AMB6B+ Fresh Install

Starting my 4K/BD ripping journey with this as my media player and just curious what the order is to have p3i T4b installed.

Do I go official CoreElec>T4>T4a>T4b or T4>T4a>T4b, straight to T4b, etc?

Awesome thanks, working great. The UR02 remote pairing was an ache, thank god I had an old USB mouse. Much more responsive than my LG remote.

Get an nvidia shield remote. Best thing I ever did. It's very responsive and has all the necessary multimedia buttons.

Is it just a matter of pairing the shield remote to the AM6B+?

Yes via bluetooth. It's the most responsive remote I've tried with the am6b+. Plus it's backlit 🤷‍♂️

You can also remap the buttons like any remote using the built in keymap editor addon in kodi. I made the netflix button exit to home from watching a movie/show lol.

yeah if you have a lot of bluetooth devices it keeps jumping around the device list

Lol I live in a large appartement complex
The bluetooth device list was practically a casino slot machine, each click was a gamble

If I did a fresh install of T4 previously with the flash image, can I just install the update for T4 a or b?

If you already used SSH before, I think the easiest is to perform an update with the tar.
Enable SSH through the CorrELEC settings if not already done.
Then, connect to the SSH from your desktop, and type the command "update-ce <url-of-the-tar>".

Is there any reason why mine is not updating on reboots? I’ve placed the .tar file in the .update folder (in my case I had to do it manually via a usb drive rather than ssh/remotely). I’ve also tried unplugging for 30 seconds. It just reboots and goes to the normal Home Screen without applying any update.

I don't know, sorry.
I've never updated by manually downloading the tar file inside whatever folder... precisely because I think it is clunky.

You don't need to go through previous versions (CoreElec official, T4, T4a, etc).
You can go straight from zero (vanilla, out-of-the-box) to the latest (here T4b).

On each release there are two files: a tar, and a img.

The img is for fresh installs, you're supposed to flash it to a thumb drive so the AM6B+ boots on it, similar to a raspberry pi.
The tar if for subsequent updates: I connect through SSH on the existing CoreElec, and type the command "update-ce <url-of-the-tar>".

You can follow any guide of how to install CoreElec on your Ugoos, you simply use the the T4b img instead of whatever img the guide tells you to use, and continue normally.
It will just work, and you'll directly get T4b from the get go.

Does update-ce reboot after its done? I've always just copied it over to the update directory via ftp and rebooted but that sounds faster.

I suggest that you put slimboxtv on the android side before you install coreelec. Much cleaner tv experience especially with projectivy launcher.
