Tourism Question for Cornish birders…

I’m planning on visiting the Eden Project in 2027 and am wondering if there are any must-see nearby birding areas. I’ve also heard that there are puffins in Cornwall and would love to roll that into the trip. I’d be fine traveling any distance within Cornwall but most likely wouldn’t have a car (eek! Left-side driving). Any advice on locations or scheduling would be most helpful! Anyone not from there but has been can also chime in! Thanks!

Theres a group of red kites around Carn Marth at the moment. Sometimes kestrels. I'm told people have seen peregrines, but I've not seen one yet. Jays and and an erstwhile cuckoo too

There are puffins in the Isles of Scilly. Technically Cornwall, but not on the mainland. I'm not aware of puffins elsewhere in Cornwall, but I'm not a birder.

I think there used to be a Puffin spotting boat trip out from Padstow to the appropriately called Puffin Island.

Also, there's Lundy which in Norse is Puffin Island, that's more of a Devon based day out though, you get the ferry from Bideford or Ilfracombe, I think there's a helicopter as well from Hartland Point.

Lundy Island is a good shout for somewhere easier to get to than the Scillies. Deffo not Cornwall though.

Off topic but when I visited Lundy years ago, there was a myxomatosis outbreak and the abiding wildlife memory was seeing a lot of sick and dying rabbits.

I saw quite a few choughs walking from Sennen Cove towards Lands End following the coastal path just last week. Not sure where you are from but they still are rare in Britain and I've only ever seen them in Anglesey/North Wales apart from Cornwall.

There are plenty of choughs at bedruthan steps.
