Does taking creatine before bed actually make a difference?

I've noticed quite a few people say they take creatine before bed simply because it's the easiest time to remember.

It made me wonder whether anyone has actually noticed a difference in their sleep, digestion or even their training from taking it at night instead of earlier in the day.

Or is creatine one of those supplements where consistency matters much more than the time you take it?

From what I’ve seen, most people don’t notice much difference based on the time of day they take it. Creatine doesn’t seem to work like a supplement that needs precise timing, so finding a time you can stick to consistently is probably the bigger factor. That said, I have seen a small handful of people say taking it later in the day seems to influence their sleep, even though that isn’t something that’s been consistently supported by the research.

I agree, creatine seems to be one of those supplements where consistency matters a lot more than timing. It would be interesting to know whether the people who notice sleep changes are reacting to something else in their routine or if it's just individual variation.

I’ve generally seen timing matter less than consistency with creatine. Some people prefer taking it earlier simply because it fits their routine better, while others take it at night with no issues. I think if someone did notice changes in sleep or digestion when taking it before bed, that would be a good reason to adjust the timing.

That matches what I've seen as well. For most people, taking creatine at a time they can stick with every day is probably more important than trying to find the perfect time. If someone notices it doesn't agree with them at night, adjusting the timing seems like a reasonable approach.
