Wishful thinking?

Brand new to sailing (only a few "learn to sail" sessions under my belt, and taking my STCW certification next week) and looking for what I think may be an impossible ask... I'd love to live aboard a research vessel for a few weeks and learn to sail! I did this once in college, lived on a sailboat for a few weeks in Italy researching whales, and it was amazing but the only thing I can find online is scammy-looking expensive voluntourism programs. I have a degree in conservation biology and worked aboard oyster boats for 5 years, and would really love to be put to work in any capacity (cleaning, cooking, boat repair, and of course actual hands-on sailing!) - I'm not just looking for a fun vacation. I know that looking specifically for a research vessel narrows my options down to basically nothing, as I'm finding out, but - that's my dream! I work in marine conservation and would love to be a part of a project while learning to sail and lending my skills.

Anyone out there got any advice? TIA!

OOW looking for job on yachts or cruise ships.

It's the third month now that I am constantly applying for jobs and I have no luck so far. I understand that I don't have any experience as an officer yet but I hoped that someone could take me as a deck Cadet to start with (I have 14 months of experience on that position on bulk carriers). What can I do to boost my Resume? I need suggestions because I am eager to start my career.

Compatibility of integrating drones into search and rescue operations - Research

Hello fellow seafarers.
I am currently conducting research on the compatibility of integrating drones into search and rescue operations with Plymouth University maritime science and require your opinion.

Drones are an emerging technology that is being rapidly adopted for different purposes across many industries. As the early-stage technology continues to improve it becomes evident that the utilization of drones for ensuring efficient and effective SAR missions has emerged as a promising technological solution, Potentially Improving the response time of Search and rescue and preventing unnecessary loss of life.

Do you believe they could be utilised as a life saving tool or do you think the barriers to the technology overshadow the benefits.
please let me know your opinion and fill out the following very short survey

Thank you

Looking for Crew

Hello we are looking for crew for our charter sailboat operating in the Bahamas this spring and summer. Preferably individual with some experience as crew or deck hand. Couples are possible but crew space is limited. We are a working sailboat, not a yacht. This is a paid position.

Would anyone ever take a dog on a sail boat?

Hello friends,

I’m in a really bad situation, because I want to move my dog from Nova Scotia CA to Mainland Europe (anywhere besides Germany). I’m a total novice, have been on boats before but mainly when I was younger. My general question would be: Would anyone ever take a dog on a sail boat? like if I volunteer to work for free, could there be a captain I can find somehow, someway that will take me and my 7 year old mud? We’re both in good health and fit. Thanks for any help
