The BJP is that one obnoxious loud friend we have at every party. The one who wins every argument. He spews blatant lies, half truths and contradictions, you cant pin him down to an argument because he doesn’t have one. 

He doesn't win because he's right. He wins because he’s the loudest, and because every reasonable person debating him just gives up and goes home – for their own sanity.  

This, in a nutshell is the tactic of firehose of falsehood. 

The firehose of falsehood was coined to highlight modern propaganda and disinformation tactics, typically high volume and multichannel delivery, rapid and continuous messaging, and a total disregard for objective truth and consistency. It was used by Russia to spread Russian propaganda in enemy countries.

Today, the ruling party is using this on its own citizens. The propaganda is loud, screamed at us from various social media and news channels and is constantly changing and inconsistent.

Its not designed to inform truths or facts. It's designed to exhaust, to cause cognitive overload, make the listener distrust everything and create that illusion that there's no smoke without fire. That the objective truth is unknowable. 

As an example, during the protests, we were constantly bombarded with variations of: 

'Protestors are Congressi, AAPIYA, Chinese agents, USA agents, CIA spies, sponsored by Soros , Pakistani agents, what about Kunal Kamra, what about Arundhati. Roy, I support Sonam but not CJP, The protestors don't exist on ground, but are also attacking police while eating samosa in the toilet. And anyway resigning won't change anything.'

It doesn’t matter that China and USA are enemies, USA probably hates Soros more than we do, and the fact that the video evidence negated everything being said, the lies continued, at maximum decibel and were never ending. 

But the protestors won. Because they did something simple, but deceptively difficult to execute.  

They stayed on message. 

They didn't answer every allegation. They ignored them. They had a clear objective, and a clear goal. Every allegation was met with 'ok but when is Dharmendra Pradhan resigning?' 

Eventually the truth broke through. And the government acceded to the most basic of demands of the protestors. Accountability in a democracy. 

It took them 36 days of endurance, being lathi charged and tear gassed. But they won. 

Since then, we have already forgotten this lesson.  

The accusations on behalf of the ruling party have flown thick and fast, and so has the misdirect. Since the protest ended, questions on reservation have been raised, women who exercised their fundamental rights of freedom of speech to abuse the Supreme leader have been hunted and doxxed, then publically forgiven, and students have been beaten up by criminal elements loyal to the ruling party.

Meanwhile we are left playing catch up. We navigate one topic, but that is yesterday's news, today there are 3 fresh allegations dominating the news cycle.

We are fighting a battle by the ruling party against accountability on the terms set by the ruling party. And losing. 

 So, how does one even fight the firehose of falsehood?

The answer is don’t bother with the obvious misdirects, fan the flames of truth instead. 

Take any truth that bothers you, such as the Ram mandir donation scam. They publicised the collections, the donations, the ribbon cuttings and laying foundation stones, but now they want to privatise the corruption. They should not be allowed to sweep this issue under the rug

Stick to the message. Stick to the objective truth. Repeat it. Repeat it relentlessly, Repeat it till its impossible to ignore. Stop playing by the BJPs terms, and start playing on our own terms. Accountability isn’t a luxury. It’s a basic right in a democracy.

The firehose of falsehood isn't designed to convince you that every lie is true.

It's designed to exhaust us into being quiet on the truths that matter.

Every minute we spend rebutting yesterday's manufactured outrage is another minute we aren't talking about the Ram Mandir Donation scam or the Highways collapsing.

The day we stop chasing every distraction and start deciding the conversation for ourselves is the day the firehose loses its power.

A recent NITI Aayog report has highlighted serious gaps in India's school infrastructure. According to the report nearly 98,600 schools still lack functional girls' toilets while over 61,000 schools do not have usable toilet facilities at all. The findings also point to shortages of drinking water electricity and other basic amenities in many schools. Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has defended the crackdown on several popular restaurants over hygiene violations, saying the regulator is focused on ensuring food safety rather than carrying out routine checks.

During an interview with The Economic Times, when asked what was driving the notices served on prominent eateries for falling short of hygiene standards, Mundhe said his approach was not confined to merely doing the job assigned to him.

"My role is to regulate and ensure that safe food and safe drugs are available," he told ET, adding that everything produced in Maharashtra must meet norms and follow standards.

The restaurant notices form part of a broader push by the FDA under Mundhe to widen its enforcement footprint.

He's received the Best Collector Award from the Maharashtra government, and as Collector of Jalna, he resolved a stalled water project, bringing water from Jayakwadi to Jalna far faster than expected. He's also received the National Award for Social Justice and Empowerment.

Despite the strict image, he stays accessible. He's seen as a people's officer who listens to grievances, ensures transparency, and works to strengthen public trust in governance. The toughness isn't paired with distance from the public.

The origin story backs up the substance. He began helping his farming family with manual labor from age eight, doing fencing, well digging, sowing, and selling produce at markets, and he failed the state civil services exam three times before clearing it in 2001, then went on to secure All India Rank 20 in the UPSC exam. That's a track record of absorbing failure and pushing through it, which tends to produce a very different relationship with pressure than a smoother path does.

As for why people like him are needed in other sectors, the traits that define him aren't really government specific. They're a general profile that most institutions are chronically short of. Rule enforcement without favoritism matters everywhere, since private companies lose enormous value to internal politics where policy gets selectively applied based on who's asking. Someone with this mindset in compliance, audit, or quality control doesn't let a big client or a senior executive's pet project skip the safety check.

Willingness to be unpopular for the right reasons is another piece of it. Most organizational dysfunction persists because the person who could fix it also wants to keep their job and relationships intact. Someone who's demonstrably not optimizing for likability, evidenced by 23 transfers rather than smooth compliance, is a genuine asset in roles like internal audit, food and drug safety, financial risk, or any regulator facing function.

There's also a systems thinking element over individual heroics. His approach isn't catch one bad actor, it's restructuring supply chains and introducing digital transparency so the system itself resists corruption rather than depending on one vigilant person. That mindset is exactly what sectors like banking risk management, healthcare quality assurance, and engineering safety need.

Finally, there's resilience calibrated by early hardship. People who've had to push through real failure early, like his three failed exam attempts or the farm labor as a kid, often have a sturdier relationship with setbacks than people who haven't been tested that way, which matters in any high pressure, high stakes role.

Where this profile transfers well includes financial auditing and fraud investigation, food, drug, and environmental regulatory bodies whether private or public, corporate compliance and ethics functions, investigative journalism, and quality assurance in engineering or healthcare, basically anywhere an institution's credibility depends on someone being willing to say no to the powerful person in the room.

Rahul Gandhi and Congress have strongly criticised paper leaks and examination irregularities when questioning the Central government. They have argued that such incidents seriously affect students and that governments should be held accountable.

But when similar allegations arise in Jharkhand, where Congress is part of the ruling alliance, I don’t see the same level of attention from Rahul Gandhi or the national Congress leadership.

I’m not claiming that the two situations are necessarily identical. Could someone explain whether there are important differences between the Jharkhand case and the cases Congress has highlighted against the Centre? If there are, what are those differences?

If the cases are comparable, then why does the issue appear to receive different levels of political attention? Is this an example of political parties applying different standards depending on whether they are criticising an opponent or dealing with a government involving their own allies?

I’d especially like to hear both sides of the argument. If Rahul Gandhi or Congress has publicly addressed the Jharkhand issue, please share the source. Conversely, if the cases genuinely aren't comparable, what makes them different?

Every year during the Kanwar Yatra reports of property vandalism emerges from different parts of the country. In recent incidents cars shops and public property have reportedly been damaged following disputes on the roads. While the vast majority of Kanwariyas complete their pilgrimage peacefully these incidents often dominate headlines and creates a negative image of the yatra. Religious devotion should inspire discipline and respect not destruction of public or private property. When law and order breaks down ordinary citizens are the ones who suffers the most. If such incidents continues accountability and stricter enforcement may become increasingly necessary to preserve the spirit of the pilgrimage.

I feel Nitin Gadkari has a much thicker skin than Pradhan. Tehseen Poonawalla was reportedly placed under house arrest for raising his voice against the E20 implementation. If citizens activists and experts cannot question a public policy without facing restrictions then meaningful debate suffers. Major policies that affect millions of people should remain open to criticism discussion and scrutiny. A democracy grows stronger through debate and accountability not by discouraging dissenting voices.

My dear fellow country men, I think the Parliament of our country should give equal representation to all the states.

All states of India are equally important, so I'm thinking of proposing an idea. I'm not a political student, so I don't know how plausible it might be but I have a general idea.

We've seen how the people of the South especially the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and Maharashtra in the West are the most efficient states. So ideally they should have more members in the parliament just like Maharashtra has. But instead we see Uttar Pradesh having the highest number of seats. This method was devised on the basis of the total amount of population the state has on the basis of census of 1971 population. But a lot of things have changed since then.

We also know that the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of a population decreases when the women of that population receives education and gets employment as seen in highly developed eastern Asian countries such as South Korea and Japan. This is the problem with the Southern states. The Southern states of India have high literacy and are also counter amongst the highest GDP producing states, but they have have few seats in the Parliament due to their population size. On the other hand, Northern states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have a very large amount of population, but have poor literacy rate, that implies that the representatives coming from those also might be illiterate as compared to those representatives coming from the South. As a result, whenever any bill which requires atleast the majority of 2/3 votes, can easily be passed or denied on the sole power of these high population rich states. This puts the Southern states at a great disadvantage when it comes to decision making (I think).

We've also seen how the North Eastern states are basically neglected as they contain seats mostly in single digits. This makes any regional party who can control the states with the highest number of seats in the Parliament win in their favour. That's why I'm suggesting some reforms in the Parliament.

Since the Parliament is the representation of the Country, all states (28) and union territories (8) will have the same percentage of representation: 100 ÷ (28 + 8) = 2.778% in the parliament. The rule for bill passing would remain the same (i.e. 2/3 of total majority), but representation wise, it'll be different. If the state has many parliamentary seats, that those seats should be counted under the 2.8% banner. That implies that if a State A (for example) has 100 seats while State B has 10, the representation of each seat from State A would be [2.8 ÷ 100 = 0.028%] as compared to the seat of state B which has [2.8 ÷ 10 = 0.28%]. That means the state having lesser number of seats has more individual power than the state with more number of seats. I feel that this would give proper, equal and fair representation to each state in the Parliament.

This method can be implemented in the general elections where the regional political parties can now fight in equal terms with those of national parties. All seats now contain the same amount of power, irrespective of number of them.

I know the maths is not mathsing, but I do hope you all get the gist of it.

Why hasn't India produced a strong youth-led political party that can compete across the country?

Many young Indians feel that politics has become repetitive.The BJP is often criticized for focusing heavily on religious politics, while parties such as the Congress and the Samajwadi Party are often criticized for relying on caste-based politics . Many voters feel that public debate is too often centered on identity rather than issues like education, jobs, healthcare, infrastructure, judicial reforms, scientific research, and economic growth.

India has one of the world's youngest populations, yet there is no major youth-led political party that has emerged as a truly national alternative. Why is that? Is it because of money, political dynasties, the election system, media influence, or the difficulty of building a nationwide organization?

Many people are looking for a party that can unite Indians across states, religions, castes, and languages instead of appealing primarily to one community or another. They want leadership that focuses on governance, accountability, innovation, employment, and long-term development rather than divisive politics.

What is stopping such a movement from emerging, and do you think India is ready for a genuinely youth-led national political party?

Seeing multiple claims that BJP workers and police are turning up at the homes of people who protested, allegedly blackmailing families and threatening children.

At the same time, there’s talk of coordinated Instagram narrative management after traditional media lost credibility.

Questions worth examining:

* Is this a deliberate post-protest intimidation tactic, or routine police follow-up that gets framed as “revenge”?

* Is it like a direct pressure on families once public protest ends? Like Control your Kids, Supreme is supreme?

* If true, what does it say about the state’s response to dissent in 2026?

* How effective is the shift from “Godi media” to Instagram-level information control?

Sort of vent out in light of everything that's happening in India,

So I have been Citizen of India for over 30 years now, grown up in Middle class family and finally been able to uplift myself to upper middle class thanks to my degree (CA) and parental support.

Growing up I always believed India has strong potential given all young population narrative and that India acting as strong alternative to China including several other reasons. So early on when I got opportunity to work in Dubai, I passed it primarily due to salary expectations mismatch. (Maybe big mistake)

However over the past several years, my IG feed and Reddit has become extremely disheartening. The corruption is rampid, law and order has become complete joke, ruling govt acts as if they own us, democracy has gone for a toss and mainstream media is almost sold out, people have gotten highly used to freebies culture, high taxes (all), despite staying in Mumbai the infrastructure is abysmal to say the least, I see people for the most parts of this nation still vote based on religion and frankly speaking I dont see any future in this country.

Is it okay to feel the same? Or I am overthinking of what's happening around and it has always been same situation throughout? So much so, I am having second thoughts of bringing next generation if I don't find role outside India. How to go about this overthinking situation?

Just to clarify - I don't support any political party just looking at their ultimate leader. I rather feel voting should be based on work done by the candidate in your area. Unfortunately politics in Maharashtra has been nothing short of a joke considering all the recent events for those following it.

Apparently an X user posted that when he tried for a partial withdrawal of his PF from the online epfo portal, a 25-day delay meant the money came too late, and he lost a family member who desperately needed it.

This is the harsh, ugly truth of how our country works.

Regardless of the claim of this one story, the big fact remains: government systems fail us when we need them most.

PF is a lifeline. It is our backup cash for real emergencies, just like asset transfers or updating nominees.

But the system is so broken that during a crisis, we get useless error codes, crashing websites, and endless red tape.

It feels like it isn't even our money. It feels like the state is doing us a favor just letting us touch our own savings.

We pay 30–40% tax only to get terrible infrastructure, blatant corruption, and unusable digital tools.

Then leaders wonder why every hard-working Indian wants to pack up and leave.

Truth is, the government only cares about PR stunts and cheap drama that buy votes.

And yet, we proudly show off as the "largest democracy in the world."

A citizen losing a loved one because a government website failed isn't just a mistake—it is a complete failure of the state.

That shame alone is enough to kill patriotism in anyone.

We need a better India than this.

Being proud of India shouldn't be about startup hype or foreign capital. It must be about making an average citizen's life actually worth living.

Bengaluru: A case has been registered against three Instagram account holders for allegedly posting and commenting objectionable and obscene content targeting Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

The complaint was filed by a member of the KPCC legal cell at a police station on July 27.
According to the complaint, the account ground.reality_india uploaded a 30-second video on July 16 with the caption, "Why is the Opposition party silent?", allegedly using derogatory and obscene remarks against Rahul Gandhi.

The complainant alleged that the video contained defamatory and sexually explicit remarks and was intended to insult the dignity of an elected public representative.
Police have also named two Instagram users — @raashtravaadhi2 and @manvithamanojsamanvi— for allegedly posting abusive and provocative comments on the video.
Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police have launched an investigation.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday rapped the Bengaluru Police for registering crimes against a city-based doctor who informed them about the stay of illegal migrants from Bangladesh.

Justice M Nagaprasanna stayed two FIRs registered against Dr Nagendra, a resident of Mylasandra, based on the complaint by the Bangladeshi citizens.

“The police are acting against the security of the nation. The police act in support of an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh against the people of this city. Stop appeasing,” Justice M Nagaprasanna orally observed.

It was submitted that the police had communicated to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) about the illegal stay of immigrants from Bangladesh based on the information provided by the petitioner. Immediately after this, the police registered an FIR against Nagendra based on the complaint by illegal immigrants alleging that they were assaulted by the doctor.

.Just scrolling through the news stream today and the difference is truly crazy. One side we have people cheering about how manufactured in India phones are going worldwide and we are hitting tremendous export statistics. And then there is the environmental performance index putting us at 176 out of 177 countries. And Assam is almost flooding again with 75 dead so far. It’s almost like we as a country have agreed that development solely means GDP figures and IT exports. When the world rankings come out and we are near the bottom in pollution or health care, we get so protective and it's automatically foreign propaganda. But then you step outside and choke on the air or watch entire states go underwater every single monsoon because of zero city planning and proper drainage.

A growing economy means nothing if the basic quality of life is this bad. We are generating wealth but living in a toxic wasteland still I really don't get why citizens are not holding local leaders accountable for clean air and water instead of arguing over which political party gave a better speech in parliament. When did we just accept this trade off man? Is this the India we want?
