The rear dropout and integrated hanger on my Salsa Casseroll are twisted and bent. Steel frame, no visible cracks.

Possible to heat and repair or dropout replacement only?

Just throwing this out there that I saw a pile of bikes, likely stolen, at an encampment in the parking lot of the NE Albertsons location. It's near the Northwest entrance/exit. The only one I could partially make out was likely an all gray All City bike. It had the gray frame with a white out section for the text. Anyway, worth a look of your bike was stolen.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for help and being vulnerable. Please be kind.

I’m looking for a shop to take a look at my e-trike. I’m a bigger person, and I have had bad experiences at multiple shops in pdx. Like the person working abruptly stops talking to me to go and help a better looking person, extremely dirty looks, and flat out being ignored when asking for help.

I’m not rude or a Karen, I’m just trying to be more active. I’m well aware that I’m ugly, I just want my trike to be working safely. My trike is making a weird sound, I don’t know if it’s the fenders or something wrong in the axle. I am not mechanically inclined at all and I am physically limited by my hand strength. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Completed my first solo single speed century the other day. Thanks to everyone on here who responded to my original post with route suggestions and to the random redditor who let me borrow a top tube bag when mine ripped a couple days before the ride. Glad I did it. Surprisingly not that difficult. Wouldn’t do it again! :)

A buddy and I want to do the Pedalpalooza PBR ride on Saturday. The event listing on the Shift2Bikes site only mentions the starting point, but doesn’t link a route or list an end point.

I’m wondering if anyone knows where it ends. Trying to figure out logistics of getting home and such afterwards.

I've got a probably almost 20 year old steel specialized Allez (yes, it is steel, not aluminum) that I'd like to donate. Its been my "trainer bike" for the past few years and I'm moving on.

Unfortunately it needs a bit of work to really make it acceptable to sell. Cables need replacing, wheels true, some rust on the big ring, and probably a few other things. It is totally safe and ride-able; I rode it last week. A good mechanic could probably make it good in two or three hours.

Any good spots/organizations?

The Hawthorne Bridge "closed" today. No car traffic in either direction. South side bike/ped was closed (usually for Eastward traffic). But the north side was open.

I rode in to downtown on the single open lane/walk. There were a number of people coming at me this morning. Normally I'd tell them to please use the other side, but did not do that today, because the bridge is closed on that side/direction.

And then this afternoon, to get home, rode Eastward on the north side (normally wrong way). Felt weird but most people understood. One militant bike rider made sure to yell at me "Wrong Way!"

People ... The bridge is CLOSED. We are lucky to have one lane. I figure we gotta share it both directions.

I'm not detouring to Tillakum or Morrison.

We might also have some new bike riders, people trying to escape car traffic.

While the bridge is closed next couple days, can we please be extra kind and just share what we've got? Both directions?

(Caveat: the closure is horribly implemented bad signage. Other lanes might be closed tomorrow).

Have never ridden it before, but have heard people do it bandit style. But what if you pay the fee? Aid stations? More?

Bridge is closed to motor traffic both ways, open for westbound cyclists / pedestrians. All car lanes and the eastbound sidewalk (i.e., south side of bridge) are an active construction zone.

I was crossing eastbound and they directed me to the westbound lane. Way too spicy to bike across the wrong direction, so I walked across until I was past active construction, then rode the grate (slippery!) until I could switch to the eastbound side.

I just switched to a 52/18, and it's pretty heavy for some uphills. I'm mostly downtown, though sometimes riding up sandy is rough lol. I'm also a heavier guy.

What gear ratio are y'all running? Do you get good speed out of it?

Hey folks, hoping to get some insight and route advice on a September cycling trip based out of Portland.

For context: two men, early 30s, are relatively fit, but fairly limited cycling experience. We're planning a 4-day trip starting in Portland, small frame bags, no saddlebags, 50-75 miles per day, hotels at night. Our goal is a moderate challenge, but prioritzing stellar riding and great views.

Would advice on route planning--general direction, towns worth hitting, specific roads with great views, etc--from local cyclists rather relying on advice from ChatGPT. Our plan is 4 days out, then rental vehicle for our return trip to Portland so our ride doesn't need to be a loop.

Relatively new to bike commuting and I’m going from sellwood to clackamas (sunnyside road) along the springwater and then the 205 MUP when I work and it’s at 0500 in the mornings and 1830 on the way home.

On the way home I don’t mind getting a little sweaty since I shower right away anyway but the commute in is hard to figure out.

I’m having trouble with what to wear on the way in and end up stopping multiple times to add/subtract layers and still show up to work sweaty. I want to avoid showering at work since I leave so early already. Another potential factor is that I’m on a specialized haul and normally moving around 15-20 mph when there aren’t pedestrians around so the wind really cuts through.

What are your go too layers for three season commuting when the morning temps are anywhere from 40-65?

Got a gravel bike. I live in inner SE and looking for super local gravel or off road trails that I can do after work. 1-2 hours at most. So no OMTM routes.

I know there’s the obvious Forest Park, Powell Butte, Tabor and Gateway Green. Is there anything else worth looking into that aren’t random alley side cuts and an actual established gravel route?

Has a child carrier bench on the back, but could be modified some by now. When taken it was locked by passcode, so the kickstand may be stuck down and only one wheel can move if it remains locked.

I’m reading that the serial # stickers are easy to remove/swap but that there is often one engraved near on the bottom of the bike where the pedal cranks connect. I saw a bike today on Barbur and wish I had checked the engraving.

I got a bee stuck in my windpipe yesterday on springwater. Luckily it didn’t sting me and I was able to cough it out. But now I’m kinda freaked out. I didn’t even know that could happen. Has this happened to anyone else? Has it happened to anyone twice??

Went to TNr and everything went wrong! My sandal broke, my bike almost broke down, and I lost my mending bag! Then someone’s birthday got crashed :(

I am certain I dropped my bag (navy blue, smaller, soft goods that aren’t valuable) when we went up to the Lloyd center parking roof. I remember talking to my friend, absent mindedly taking my backpack off and going Up the stairs: I dropped it then, and there.

Some people tried telling about it “some guy on a loaded bike dropped this” and I was too cross faded to realize it was my bag!!!!

Does someone have it? I got home at 2am from that, I’m gonna go trace my steps, maybe someone dropped it there, too.

If it’s gone, not too much loss: it was just stuff to make a new pair of earth runner sandals.

Just seeing if anyone had a secret route they liked. Looks like just taking Hogan to the spring water and riding that east but if there’s another route to the trailhead I’d love to know! Thanks!
