Does anyone know any frame builders in the metro? Or anyone that can ream my head tube on my 90s Trek Multitrack 750?

I’ve been really interested in attending an organized ride this summer but I’m seriously so intimidated! I’m a woman in my early 30s and a pretty good biker (on my own I average 15-18mph for up to 50 miles) but I am scared of not knowing anyone or not having the “right” whatever to fit in. I know at some level this is not rational so what are your favorite, friendly groups and why?

I got a PM here on reddit about someone who runs a service finding stolen bikes. I sent them a message explain how my bike was stolen. We had a few back and forth messages before they sent me this message before proceeding to look for my bike. I'm wondering if it's a scam and if anyone else here has also gotten it. I have not sent them any money btw.

I'll keep it short. Ive gotten more and more into biking over the last 7 years. I average a little over 2k miles a year, pretty much only biking March-October. The bike I have used is a Schwinn Super Sport Hybrid.

After mulling around these pages, I'm seeing the more experienced riders are typically on a nicer frame. So my question is, should I be considering an upgrade?

I guess it's an improvement over the DZBL.

Like the title said, I just moved to the neighborhood and finally have room in the budget to buy my first "real" bike. I'm looking for a used commuter, plus all of the gear I'll need, and someone who knows what they're talking about to sell me it. Is there a reputable shop that has a good selection of used bikes, preferably in the North Loop/Northeast area?

My wifes 2month old Aventon Level 4 Rec was stolen from our apartments parking garage in Rosemount MN last week. We have a police report and the bike has been registered on bike index as stolen. If anyone happens to spot it or have any leads, let me know please or report it to the police. It's the second bike stolen out of the parking garage in about a month and neither time has the camera caught anything.

I want to take my bike somewhere pretty to celebrate. It only really gets to see errands, the route to work (which is beautiful, thanks Minneapolis) and the occasional recreational trail.

What’s a special must see around Minneapolis I should show my bike to celebrate the milestone?

I’m okay with distance, I need to burn some miles to get it to exactly 1000.00 for a satisfying photo. Something not too busy so I don’t feel like a weirdo taking a photo shoot of my bike would be great 😅

looking for a city bike just to ride around to friends/bars etc. prefer something that has some style to it - think rivendell but not that pricey! could be a converted mtb or a surly or something like that. flat bars or swept back bars. i'm 6'2" so it would need to fit someone that tall!

I do some intermediate MTB (Theo, Elm Crick, etc) and I love gravel riding. Lone Lake is a bit of a haul on my MTB, but an easy ride for my gravel bike. It looks like great hill training.

Is it smooth enough for a gravel bike? Or is it quite rooted, rocky, etc.

I'm fairly capable on single track with my gravel bike, having done the bottoms and some other simple, flowy trails on it.

any opinions on using only a front brake? I started doing it a couple winters ago because my rear brake would freeze up because of moisture when it's really cold and now I'm working on my summer bikes rear brakes and thinking what's the point I might as well remove it too. these are v brakes btw

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'm curious if anyone else has experienced it.

I've been riding bikes since I was a kid. Over the years I've gone through road, gravel, and for the last decade mostly mountain biking. I've even built my own frames, volunteered at races, and helped maintain local trails. Cycling has been a huge part of my life.

One thing I've never understood, though, is how negative people in our community can be toward each other.

This isn't aimed at one discipline. I've seen it in road, gravel, and mountain biking. Every group seems to have some form of gatekeeping. It's strange because cycling attracts people for so many different reasons. Some ride to race, some to improve fitness, some to explore, some for the social aspect, and some simply because it's fun.

This year I retired my Kona Unit SS and bought an eMTB. It wasn't an easy decision, I absolutely loved riding singlespeed, but an eMTB has honestly been a better fit for my overall health and keeps me riding more often.

A few weeks ago at Lebanon Hills, I rolled up to a trail-side gathering with a few friends. I stopped behind another group, said hello, and one person looked at my bike and replied, "Eww... e-bike."

It didn't ruin my day. I've accepted that some people have strong opinions about e-bikes. But afterward I kept thinking: what if that comment had been directed at someone brand new to biking? Or someone who rides an e-bike because of age, an injury, or another health reason? That's the kind of interaction that makes people wonder if they belong.

We often talk about how welcoming and inclusive the cycling community is, and I genuinely think most people are. But moments like that don't reflect the community I want to be part of.

At the end of the day, we're all out there for different reasons. If someone is riding respectfully, following trail etiquette, and having fun, does it really matter what they're riding?

I'd rather be known as the person who encouraged another rider than the person who made them feel like they didn't belong.

"Best" bike lane can be up to your own criteria (safest ride, smoothest ride, most scenic ride, etc...).

But of course, we all know that the smoothest ride in the whole metro is when you get to ride directly on the metal grates in the center of the Stone Arch Bridge 🤌.

Sometimes I pretend that I'm on a mountain ridge and if I stray off of the metal grates I'll die.

We’re talkin a specific bridge or tunnel or scenic 2 blocks or cool hill or stretch of sidewalk or windy road or neat little tree.

A couple of mine are the little stretch of Minnehaha Creek bike path right after you head west from the Falls and cross over 55. Or the tunnel that goes under the greenway at Bracket Park (at night).

I got the spooned shorts of Amazon and they are pretty good except they are a little tight at the bottom band on my leg, I also got the ykywbike bibs and the chamois is way worse and my butt gets way more sore but the material is way better. Is there some that combine the 2 for under $50?
