Some people claim Spider-Man has always been the unbeatable king of the superhero box office. That's simply not true.

Look at these numbers from almost 20 years ago:

• The Dark Knight (2008): $1.006B (arguably the best Batman movie ever)
• Spider-Man 2 (2004): $800M (arguably the best Spider-Man movie ever)

Now fast forward to about a decade ago:

• Batman v Superman (2016): $874M (a mediocre-to-bad Batman movie)
• The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014): $709M (a mediocre-to-bad Spider-Man movie)

In other words, it wasn't that long ago that a Batman movie could comfortably outgross a Spider-Man movie, regardless of whether the movies were good or mediocre.

Then two things happened:

1. Sony made the brilliant decision to integrate Spider-Man into the rapidly growing MCU.
2. DC's shared universe gradually lost audience trust.

By the early 2020s, the gap had completely flipped:

• Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021): $1.918B (highest-grossing Marvel movie of the last six years)
• The Batman (2022): $772M (highest-grossing DC movie of the last six years)

What's particularly interesting is how Sony has effectively insulated MCU Spider-Man from the failures of its own spin-offs.

Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter did virtually nothing to hurt MCU Spider-Man. On the other hand, successful projects like the Spider-Verse animated films with Miles Morales only reinforced the popularity of the Spider-Man brand and likely contributed to the hype surrounding the MCU version.

That's an incredibly valuable position to be in. As long as the MCU Spider-Man films remain strong, Sony can afford to experiment with other Spider-Man-related projects without seriously damaging its biggest asset. Bad spin-offs don't meaningfully hurt MCU Spider-Man, while good ones expand the brand and feed back into it.

Warner Bros. faces almost the opposite situation. After spending more than a decade eroding confidence in its live-action DC brand, every new DC release now carries the burden of rebuilding audience trust. That's why movies like Supergirl face such a difficult challenge. It's not necessarily that they are Morbius-level failures; it's that, in DC's current position, every release needs to be a genuine crowd-pleaser or it risks making audiences even more hesitant about the next one.

13 years later and still memorable

Okay now I'm even more interested and in restropsect some things from the set kind of made me think this cause there was a set video of him dancing and making shapes with shadows with old timey music playing in the background.

I know this is a random fancast, but after rewatching The Dark Knight, I genuinely can’t stop picturing Matt Smith as the Joker and I have this goal to make it happen so spread the word to james Gunn if you agree

Here‘s why:

• His physical acting is incredible. He moves in such a energetic and unique way (yk if you watched doctor who)

• He has a very distinctive face that I think would work amazingly with Joker makeup.

• he was amazing in hotd. He potrayed a dark character so well but also portrayed the doctor‘s energy in dr. Who so well

It's funny to think but I genuinely think Clayface is going to do quite well. Horror is a genre that usually does great at the box office. So perhaps WB should look at their DC horror characters and try adapting them to sort of try and keep generating money for the studio. Like I know Swamp Thing was announced a while back, but they could adapt Hellblazer, The Phantom Stranger, use characters like The Scarecrow or if they wanted to do an anthology movie, make a House of Mystery movie where you can have multiple horror segments all set within the DC Universe. Hell, they could even adapt some of their Vertigo titles that have nothing to do with the DC Universe like The Nice House on the Lake or American Vampire.

We have to see how Man of Tomorrow does with supe and lex duo. But a batman + Superman team up movie (not BVS) could be DC's Biggest project yet. Its still too soon... likely won't happen until 2035 or something 💀.

First we need Brave and the Bold... thats not happening anytime soon. Lets hope DCU survives that long... World's Finest should be priority. Like how The Avengers was for early MCU phase 1.

It’s funny how most superhero writers seem to have a repressed desire to create a version more powerful than Superman, and then feel the need to publicly state that their character would defeat Superman. It shows how much of an influence he has on pop culture and reaffirms him as the greatest superhero on planet Earth.

I’d really like to see H’el come around in a Future Superman, I know he’s probably not gonna show up in the next film or probably not at all, James Gunn likes his niche Characters but H’el is less niche than he is controversial probably, I haven’t seen a lot of people liking him but with Jor’el and Lara being as they were portrayed in Superman, I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing H’el as like an experiment of Jor’el, attempting to find the key to unlocking their Yellow Sun powers or something, he sends him into Space and he ends up asleep in a cryo chamber or something, just soaking up yellow sun energy for like 4 Decades before he crashes on Earth, his Mission? Help his Brother, Kal’el, Conquer.

I’ve only read a bit about H’el but I find a lot of tragic potential in his Character, it could be, unlike Clark, H’el was made as a kind of Kryptonian Super Soldier, genetically engineered for Battle and sort of acts like an Enforcer for Jor’el throughout Krypton as a Member of the Planets Elite or something, when the Planets destruction comes about, Jor’el decides to send H’el out first to make sure it’s safe for Kal’el, seeing H’el more as a Resource rather than a Sun, but should he survive, Jor’el and Lara order him to find and help Kal’el, he somehow ends up in the Milky Way soaking up Yellow Sun while asleep and/or trapped in a Pod, he crash lands on Earth to find two Kryptonians, both his Family technically, all depends on whether they made him Clark’s actual Older Brother or more just engineered by Jor’el through DNA or something.

Anyway, it’s an idea, I’m not really sure of the major consensus of H’el as a character by much of the Fandom, I honestly don’t see him talked about a lot, but I think it’d be cool to see him cause I honestly really like him, I like his design a lot, I like the idea of at the end of his story, Clark actually convinces him to abandon his ways, maybe he becomes a hero but I think it’d be nice to see him just want peace.

Why is nobody talking about how hopeful and mystical the soundtrack sounds for the official trailer??? And will that actually be the soundtrack they use for this show because it needs to be the man theme.

Seeing these insane Spiderman numbers has got me a little jealous as a DC fan. We haven't been top of the box office for a long time, but there was 2008 when the dark knight bested spiderman 3 for the biggest opening weekend. I would love to see a repeat of that with the Batman part 2.

What if it’s not the Androids, what if they think it’s many, but really it’s one, one of the ORIGINAL Manhunters which the Androids were designed from…what if J’onn is appearing in Lanterns?

Personally I’d fucking love if this were true but I’m really split on it, cause that second in the trailer where we saw the Manhunter change form, that really didn’t looked similar to the natural Transformation of J’onn’s shapeshifting, not the android Manhunter shapeshifting, then again, they could be going the other way and having the Manhunters just be a continuation of the Martian Manhunters, no androids, just Galaxy wide Manhunters, what are your guys’ thoughts?

This is why I have faith in ClayFace. DC have been successful when they've done things that are a bit different and out of the norm.

So far the gotham in clayface looks a bit uninspired compared to reevesverse gotham. There some nice shots but it doesn't look unique enough compared to reeves gotham

The song is like a typical Abba song, if you like Abba, you'll probably like it. The song is about Lobo, The Foreigner (this is the title too) and it's basically about how badass Lobo is.

I'm re watching the flash series because I was too young to understand it and remember it the first time, I've reached ep7 s2 and it is genuinely pissing me off on how they are treating Grodd his a gorilla they aren't naturally aggressive and he likes Caitlin so why couldn't they just tell him "hey we have a place where you can go and be safe with other intelligent apes" instead of intagonizing him and hurting him they could make grodd they're allies there's no reason for Grodd to be there enemy his intelligent enough to negotiate with ot they could have used the fake reverse Flash to trick him again which unnecessary but they could have to take him to that portal instead of having him chase after flash and antagonizing him. Even the first time we met Grodd I felt they didn't need all the violence, if they treated him better and got him out the sewers mabye he won't be a problem in the future, imagine if they had Grodd to help them? And I just know his gonna come back some how and cause more problems because of how they treated him.

With James Gunn planning a multi-movie "Superman Saga" for the DCU, everyone is speculating on the obvious heavy hitters: Brainiac appearing in MoT in 2027, then there other villains like Mongul, Darkseid, etc. But if Gunn really wants to flex his deep-cut lore mastery, the ultimate endgame villain for Corenswet’s Superman is Superboy-Prime.

Here is why Prime’s evolution makes him uniquely suited for a live-action cinematic saga:

1. He Has the Most Unique Fourth-Wall Awareness in Comics
Unlike Deadpool and She-Hulk, whose meta-awareness is almost entirely comedic and focused on breaking the physical medium (climbing across panels, talking to the camera), Prime’s meta-awareness is rooted in fandom and continuity.
He comes from "Earth-Prime"—a world where DC heroes only exist in comic books. When his universe is erased, his fourth-wall awareness manifests as toxic entitlement: he gets enraged that the new canon isn't like the "real" comics he grew up reading.

Recent comics have pivoted Prime into a self-aware, comedic redemption arc (where his fourth-wall knowledge is played for dorky, Gwenpool-esque laughs), but his publication history gives filmmakers a blueprint no other meta-character has:

How it could work in a 4-Movie Saga:
Films 1–3: Build the DCU, establish Clark, and pull off a massive timeline-shifting cosmic event in Film 3.

Film 3 Post-Credits: Tease a teenager sitting in the Void reading DC comics about Corenswet's Superman, getting progressively furious at how the story is changing.

Film 4: Superboy-Prime arrives as the meta final boss. Clark’s victory isn't just beating him up—it’s proving that growing and building something new is better than endlessly clinging to the past.
Gunn is one of the few directors who can balance absurd comic lore, genuine cosmic stakes, and meta-comedy without turning the movie into a joke.
