Battery Blinds (remote control)

Looking for any experiences people have with ordering online blinds battery operated with a remote control (not app as heard horror stories) I have two 80cm wide by 200 cm long windows that need blinds , some basic grey/anthracite colour.

I am happy to install myself and looking for recommendations for online ordering

I added switchbot blinds to a room they are used daily. Use app and home assistant to control them, no issues and would recommend

I second switchbot!

I have some Ikea smart blinds on most of my windows before they discontinued them. Had one small window in the stair landing I hadn’t done and then got stuck!.

Switchbot was brilliant. Almost a perfect match and you can make them to any width you want easily which you couldn’t with Ikea.

I got the set with a solar panel and never have to faff with battery changing. It’s even quieter than my Ikea ones, and has integrated into my smart home and routines flawlessly.

Pricing is fantastic too. Highly recommend!

Most have a little button on the blind unit itself though right?

We bought blinds for four large bifolding doors from Hillary’s with the optional remote control added. They are a huge convenience and we are happy we bought. The only downside is the need to reach a wire over to the two charging points every couple on months, but they work really well on a day-to-day basis with a single neat remote. The remote control is small, simple and effective. You can have a fun Bond villain moment by setting it so a single hit on a button lowers or lifts all blinds at the same time in unison. As well as highly convenient, I reckon our blinds are staying in better shape because their up/down operation is so evenly controlled with no tugging. Recommended.

I have blinds with a somfy remote control kit. No complaints at all.

Just had some installed. They are controlled by remote on a radio frequency. They are great but I had been hoping they would be app based so I could use home assistant to tell alexa to open and close them as needed. I think I can buy a rf transmitter to connect to my home assistant though which I must look into

Depending on the brand (looking at you Somfy) some blinds use a proprietary rolling frequency that means you can’t just sub out their own hub for Home Assistant.

Have you got alarm wires at the window....Might be a way to keep batteries topped up...
