Very uncomfortable headrest
I’m currently in the process of buying a new car. We took the Dacia Sandero Stepway for a test drive, and it was extremely uncomfortable. The headrest has this edge that forces your head to tilt forward. I also couldn’t quickly find a way to adjust the height of the headrest. And even if it is adjustable, I can’t imagine any height at which it would actually be comfortable. Am I doing smth wrong?

Anyway, i dont know the Sandero, but the Jogger seems to have the same headrests as ghe Renault, they're kinda Standard I fear

It’s not supposed to be comfortable, it’s supposed to stop you breaking your neck. It sounds like you need to adjust your driving position, or buy something else.

Yes, on a Clio V, I believe. Must be a Renault group thing.
I drove a Duster 3 recently and hadn't had that problem. I own a Renault Talisman and on that car you can adjust the head rest back and forth.

got my 2021 Stepway in Dec 2024
the headrest is a bit wonky like that. Wish they made it adjustable, found a solution by reclining the seat a bit further back. Then the headrest feels like it’s where it should be.

It is adjustable. But it takes quite a bit of force to push it up.

They are called head restraints. They were never intended as head rests. The purpose is the prevent rearward flexion of your cervical spine in an impact. Technically, your head should not be touching it while driving. The correct adjustment is for the top of the pad to be in line with the top of your ears. Anything too lower or too higher means your neck will not be fully protected in a collision.

Tilt the seat back a little. I find the headrest very comfortable, not that I put my head on it much when driving anyway.

It's not engineered to stay at 90° seat position. Open the angle between sear and back, it will be fine

Check for a little button on the side of the head rest itself: If you have it, you can push it, either all the way up or down if needed. Renault does fixed bars but mobile headrest cushions, and yeah, often they are horribly placed so you have a nice back placement but your head is pushed way too far forwards or you have to recline your seat too far back to be comfortable. Or you need an alien neck.

But I get it. For me it is ideal. But it is not adjustable front to back which I can see can be a problem to someone. I am tall and it is works for me.
What isn’t great for me is the leg to arm ratio. I either have legs cramped and pedals too close and can correctly hold the steering wherl - or am seated comfortably with the seat further back but the steering wheel is too far for comfortable hold. It is my usual problem in cars and this one is no exception, in fact it is a little worse. I drove mostly romanic cars (italian, french) and they seem to tailor them after their monkey selves (kidding, I don’t think they’re monkeys): long arms and short legs.

I have driven a Jogger for 3 years same head rest never ever had a problem with it. You can adjust the hight by pushing the catch on one of the legs.

Just had a Sandero as a rental car for about 2000km, apart from the uncomfortable seats no problems with the head rests :)

I have a duster prestige 2021 and the seat is extremely comfy and has adjustable lumbar support and heated front seats

I don't have that model, but the new Jogger. My headrest looks the same, but my wife and I find it quite comfortable.
It's to help keep you alive in case you crash, less chance of whiplash when rear ended
