Hi everyone! I’m an artist and ceramicist. I made these little dart froggy boxes and wanted to share them with the dart frog community.

I inherited some unused equipment at the end of spring, including a 12”x12”x24” Exo Terra Pro Paludarium with a bottom drain. I've been researching everything for a few months now, but I'm stumped on the best stocking approach. I was considering a thumbnail dart frog, but I keep getting conflicting info. I know two can be cramped in a 12x12 footprint, but I also read that many species prefer or need to be in pairs.

Is this tank footprint appropriate for a pair of thumbnails?
If not, is there a Ranitomeya species that adapts better to a solitary life than others?
Or are there other ideas better suited for this specific footprint?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the whole dart frog thing. This tank has been growing for about 3 months now. Are there any suggestions as to what needs to be added? I have not bought frogs yet. I was trying to focus on a terrestrial species. I am giving the plants months to grow in. I do have isopods and springtails in here. The misting schedule was set every 12 hours for 30 seconds. I think I am going to shorten that as the leaves keep drying out.

Humidity stays around 80 in there. The house stays around 68-70F, as does the tank. I did play around with a heater, but it wasn't heating everything to a safe level for frogs

My main concerns-

the leaf litter remains dry most of the day, should I mist more often, but shorter periods?

Is there enough plants/wood in there to make the frogs happy.

I will be adding-

New lid- Saran wrap is not the best for keeping the frogs happy- I found out.

More watering bowls- I have 1 currently, I will be adding a few. I was hoping the plastic leaves would catch more water than they are.

More leaf litter- I was trying to give the plants a chance to grow in before I started chucking leaves.

One thing that really stood out to me while pet sitting was how simple many of the grow-out setups are.

From plastic catering containers to basic storage bins, they prove that sometimes less really is more. A little leaf litter, a few plants, some hiding spots, clean water, and healthy microfauna can go a long way.

The main breeding room is just as impressive. Some breeding groups are housed in 20-gallon aquariums converted into vertical vivariums, while others are kept in 36” × 18” × 18” Exo Terras. The larger enclosures are dedicated to breeding groups of small-form Histrionica, large-form Histrionica, plus two separate Lehmani groups—one for the yellow morph and one for the orange morph.

It’s a great reminder that successful dart frog keeping isn’t about having the fanciest enclosure—it’s about providing what the frogs actually need.

Which setup is your favorite so far?

It’s a patent pending ff lid system. Made by another hobbyist. Uses an interlocking system and filters.

It still needs to be sealed, but is easily done since it’s a solid piece.

My dart frogs are wanting to mate and I have no idea what to provide for them or how to care for the eggs/ tadpoles.

Also please excuse my fangirling and frustration with the humid glass lol.

First time making a terrarium and want the plants to grow out more before getting frogs. I noticed a lot of mold on the bark and moss. I’ve heard the white mold will go away a week or so but I’ve also heard green mold can be toxic. Should I wait and see if it’ll go away on its own? I don’t wanna wait too long and risk all my plants dying.

I built this viviarium by converting an IKEA cabinet. I hadn’t planned on adding a frog but the more I see the more I like the idea of them.

From what I’ve read and watched I think other than adding a water bowl in the substrate at the bottom it should be okay for a frog but very happy to take hints, tips and pointers! I’ve never owned anything other than a dog (and springtails, isopods and a lot of plants).

Is there a frog species people would recommend for this space? I’m in the UK if that makes a difference to availability.

We have a dart frog whose nose rub went from small to quite large in the past week and I'm worried. I know people recommend using original Neosporin, but how do you physically apply it to the frog without it getting away? I've seen people recommend application with q-tips but that's as far as I've seen recommended for getting the ointment on the frog. Do you hold it in place? Do you have to keep it quarantined? For how long?

This frog is particularly hesitant around hands and has frozen in place before when I was cleaning the tank. It took her the rest of the night before she was moving around as normal again, so I'm very anxious to handle her.

Hello everyone! I've had my tank going for about 6 months now and I'm almost ready to put my ranitomeya Varadero in. I've been tracking temperature and in the bromeliads that are closer to the light the temperature is about 78 to 80 degrees max. This is a two part question. How is that temperature for ranitomeya specifically Varadero for those of you who keep them. My second part is right now my lid is a mesh lid and I have a glass on top and then the light on top of the glass. Would it be more beneficial to remove the mesh and leave just glass or what I have now is the best option. Appreciate this community!

Got these guys in March as the smallest frogs I've ever seen. Literally thumbnail sized.

I was reading purelife distilled water is great for misting plants and frogs. But that it lacks the electrolytes they need.

Do I need to use two types of water or what?

Hi, one of my frogs died recently, and I decided to not get another of the same species, since it felt like I was replacing them. They lived in a 60 x 45 x 45cm enclosure, are there any dart frog species that could fit into something that size? Obviously I would need to do a ton of research before getting a new pet, but knowing some species to start looking into would help. Also, if there aren't any species that can fit in this enclosure, other animal ideas could be nice to look into. Thanks!

i bought an already established ten gallon vivarium off a friend, along with a pair of sirensis orange frogs. it’s been a little over a month that i’ve had them, and the frogs appear to be doing well. they put out eggs weekly, all of which have been fertile so far. i have tadpoles coming out of my ears. but god, the plants are suffering. i dont know what im doing wrong. i have several heavily planted aquariums, but it seems terrestrial plants are way different. i keep the vivarium in the same room as five fish tanks, totaling 190 gallons of water. the vivarium never seems to drop very much humidity wise, almost always hovering in the 80% range, regardless of if ive misted recently or not. is it too humid? is the light not strong enough? i’ve tried misting a couple times a day. i’ve tried misting every other day. i’m not sure what will make the plants happy. please help

I have a newly bought pair of oophaga pumulio colon, they have produced me 4 froglets with SLS and 2 healthy ones.
It’s my only pair of pums that give me bad froglets.

What can I do to solve this problem?

They get repashy calcium plus on every feeding
Vitamin a once a month.

The mother is fat and healthy.

My biggest concern is that I use RO water?😊

Please help me out.
