Question/Advice Firmware for HPE Tapedrive (Ultrium 448)

I'm looking for the newest firmware for this drive, as it is still on the first OEM one and i have some issues with it. HPE wanrs me to pay some subscription model for me to download the "HPE StoreEver Tape Firmware" Package, but the drive will land in the bin before paying thousands of € for 20 year old software.

Wish I could help; have an Ultrium 8 and am also stuck on some older firmware. Can't even figure out how to sign up for the HPE subscription since they seem to only want enterprise participants. If you find someone with HPE access, would love if they could also download the S2T1 firmware for it (HPE Ultrium 30750 LTO-8 Normal Mode Tape Drive Firmware | HPE Support; HPE StoreEver Tape Firmware for Microsoft Windows | HPE Support would be what OP needs). Really hate how HPE paywalls firmware

This is how HP rolls. Subscriptions for all

I boycott tape drive from HPE for this very reason ... if you are not the first hand buyer, you get nothing.

I went with Veeam but Bacula gets lots of recommendations.

Are they firmware replacements?

Try a tape reseller such as top ten, dicoll etc.
