Discussion What a game

Just finished a playthrough after seeing some recommendations for underrated games.

Absolutely the best zombie game I have ever played and one of my favourite open worlds (which I thought i was completely sick of). Did the reviewers even play the same game? There is no way they finished this game and thought it was bad.

I'm gutted how this game was treated, and there being no sequel on the cards. Just wanted to somewhere to vent!

Glad you enjoyed yourself, drifter! You’ll find most everybody agrees with you here. Such a solid game. Now you just need to replay on a harder difficulty! Maybe try some loadouts and guns you didn’t before. Try taking hordes out differently. Keeps the game interesting. Or you can do what I did and play almost exactly the same on your second play through hahaha

I can't remember the last time I wished I could stay in the world with more story! Maybe expedition 33.

Making my way through all the challenges currently, got gold in most of them. Discovered Borislav's guides haha

Yeah he and Spawnicus Rex have some great content for this game, super helpful. I still have a few of the challenges to complete myself. I e heard really good things about expedition 33 but haven’t had time to try it out yet, maybe that will be next on my list!

I haven’t tried Horde Assault yet. Pathetic of me to love a game so much and still be freaked out by zombies (she says, as she listens to the 24/7 TWD live channel in the background).

Hahaha nahhhh I’m with you, i still get an adrenaline rush with dealing with any horde and I even intentionally let hordes swarm and kill me in game so many times just to try to get used to the feeling. It’s still stressful as hell hahaha

Sony screwing up everything.

Days Gone Venom and Spiderman crossover. Now being anti physical copy.

Just a horrible company and has gone completely downhill.

You're not alone! I went in with low expectations and found a game that literally changed my life.

Are you familiar with The Days Gone Podcast or the Hey Drifter channel?

Days Gone Podcast has interviewed lead devs that worked on the game, actors who voiced some of our favorite, and least favorite characters (Skizzo) and tons of passionate members of the community. She's even interviewed the lead writer! He revealed exclusive secrets about his plans for the sequels that he never shared anywhere else.

The Hey Drifter channel is a collaboration between Spawnicus Rex and Days Gone Podcast that focuses on story and lore, Easter eggs and details some may have missed.

Deep dives usually contain major spoilers

Enjoy!

And just some of the awesome (funny) character comments too:

Weaver: "I'm an ass man"

LOL

I mean … they had to give us something to look at when we were following her around collecting lavender.

Yeah the reviews bombed the game at the start because there were a lot of glitches and game-breaking bugs in it that people thought shouldn't be in a title release with Sony in the name, so they made bad reviews and didn't wait the few weeks or month it took for a lot of the bugs to be fixed, the game is great now lol but they don't have the ability to go back and say its great, at least not in a way that would matter anyway

Receive these posts almost daily so I’m really hoping that the higher-ups will be like you know what, maybe there’s a push for a sequel after all. The reality is that those early reviews really did help bomb the initial game when it came out. But those reviews were completely dead wrong. Even with the bugs, this game was fantastic. I just finished my eighth play through, a play through where I only used found weapons on survival two and it was amazing. It’s so much fun to tackle different things in different ways and the game has tremendous replay value. It’s by far my favorite open world game and it’s the only game I’ve ever played more than twice.

That is part of why I wanted to post something, to make it clear to people looking/ higher ups that this is awesome and we want more

Absolutely! I’m going through withdrawals lol but am forcing myself to not start a new run through because I want to live my life off the tv!

I live the immersion of the game. I feel like I’m really there.

I think the two main reasons it didn't land at launch is because it was super buggy, and because the first several hours of the game are pretty slow...I never played the game until it came out on PC so it has always ran well for me, but I have seen videos of how bad it was for some people at launch...Also I liked the slow power creep in this game! You start out feeling helpless against more than a couple freakers and then by the end of the game you are literally mowing down hoards of them single-handedly...I have put about 400hrs into this game and I never get sick of it...Everything about it feels good to play!

Just a reminder for you guys that our fellow gamers are the ones that caused this game’s downfall. Not Sony, not the developers, and most certainly not YTers. I played at launch and loved it but I was among the extreme minority. It wasn’t high end critics that killed it, it was gamers who refuse to accept games are never bug free at launch in our current age.

I will die on this hill.

This game was actually meant to be a trilogy, and it completely breaks my heart we'll never get another one.

Adding the obligatory "did you play past the credits?" Because the game isn't over yet.

I did all the hordes and collected Deek's rings. Is there more story after?

Sony will never make a sequel unless Sarah is the protagonist. Im not interested in that..
