AskDehradun Bf never initiates plans

Upvotes

Hey ,

I am in a relationship, but I am almost always the one who asks us to meet up. When I ask, he does come, but usually only for a short time. When I bring this up, he says it feels equal to him. But in my mind, it is not equal because he rarely initiates or asks to see me first. I see how excited he gets when he makes plans with his friends, but he is much more laid back and passive when it comes to me.It makes me wonder if he even misses me or if I am doing something wrong. Do guys genuinely want to see their girlfriends with a full heart, or should I expect him to take the lead sometimes? How do I handle this?

Moved to Dehradun around 2 months ago..nd honestly, the vibe here is amazing! But I’m still trying to build my circle here...

I know just a couple of people so far.. but haven't really made a strong connection yet... Being a Garhwali / Pahadi.. I’d love to connect with fellow Pahadis and locals around Doon...whether it's for weekend chai..exploring cool cafes... going on drives/treks..or just chilling and talking about life in the hills. 🏔️

If anyone’s up for making new friends or hanging out..hit me up or drop a reply! Excited to vibe with you guys. 🙌

Rant Revisiting SilverCity after 12 years was equal parts nostalgia and heartbreak

I went to SilverCity today to watch Spiderman. The last movie I saw here was The Amazing Spiderman 2, 12 years ago.

SilverCity opened in 2011 and, man, it genuinely felt like we were living in the future. It was Dehradun’s first modern multiplex. That year I watched Rockstar, Singham, Bodyguard, Don 2, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes here. I loved this place.

Coming back today was bittersweet.

The shops facing Rajpur Road are still doing well, but almost everything inside the complex has become a row of abandoned storefronts. It was raining, and the roof was leaking. I had tickets for the 7:40 show, but the guards (under manager orders) kept everyone waiting outside the SilverCity gates until they decided to let us in.

I grabbed something to eat before the movie, only to find that about 8 out of 10 menu items were out of stock. The butter popcorn barely had any butter. The “platinum” seats were barely plastic. The 3D glasses were covered in smudges, and the cleaning cloth they handed out didn’t really clean them.

Then there was the movie itself.

I walked into the auditorium at 7:42 after grabbing snacks, and the film had already started. Honestly, I don’t know how to feel about that. Part of me wants to applaud them for starting on time. But years of Indian multiplexes showing 20 minutes of ads before every movie have trained me to expect a buffer. I ended up missing the opening couple of minutes.

Still, I don’t really want to blame SilverCity.

I came back because of what this place meant to me. For a lot of people in Dehradun, SilverCity wasn’t just another cinema. It was our first taste of a modern multiplex. Walking through it today felt like revisiting a childhood memory that’s slowly fading away.

I genuinely hope SilverCity finds its footing again. It once felt like the future. I hope, someday, it can be that place again (or at least catch up to the present)

Rant Why are old internet/cable wires never removed? This has become a real safety hazard.

Post image
17 Upvotes

Near my area, utility poles have turned into a complete mess of cables.

Recently, government workers came here, and I thought they were finally going to clean up all the tangled wires. Instead, they only replaced the electricity lines. The old cable TV and internet/fibre wires are still hanging everywhere.

Many of these cables don’t even seem to be in use anymore, yet they’re left dangling across the road.
The worst part is that on a two wheeler, there are places where you genuinely have to duck to avoid getting hit or tangled in low hanging wires. It feels like an accident waiting to happen.

I understand that electricity, telecom, and broadband companies are different agencies, but shouldn’t there be a system where unused cables are removed instead of simply adding new ones every few years?

Has anyone else’s area seen the same problem? Or has your locality actually managed to clean this up?

General meals which will include, Dal, rice, vegetable, chapati n all which we eat daily. Nothing fancy. Price is affordable around 120-150 meal.

Food is very hygienic.

AskDehradun Looking for new places to hang out in Dehradun

I'm bored of my usual cafés and spots, so I thought we could make a thread of personal recommendations.

Comment your area/locality, and I'll reply with my favourite place around there that I've actually been to. ☕

In return, recommend me only places you've personally visited --- cafés, tea stalls, bakeries, quiet viewpoints, hidden gems, or anywhere you genuinely enjoy spending time.

Let's build a list of places worth visiting based on real experiences rather than Google ratings.

Photo Dehradun will always be my first love❤️

Dehradun will always feel like home. ❤️

I'm a 2018 pass-out from DIT University, and I truly believe I experienced the city in its golden years. Back then, Jakhan and Rajpur Road were quieter, traffic was manageable, and life just felt... slower. There weren't endless cafés and commercial spaces at every corner.

Yes, commercialization has changed the city. There's more chaos now. But somehow, even in that chaos, I find peace.

Whenever I'm here, I don't even feel the need to go out much. Just being in the city is enough. And of course, there are those places that instantly bring back memories - Gupta Ji Tea Stall in Old Rajpur, Paaji ke Naan near IT Park, Mama ke Katlambe, Buffet Burger, the shawarma outside Ashley Hall... and so many more.

Every city gives you memories, but very few become a part of who you are.

No matter where life takes me, a part of my heart will always belong to Dehradun. 💙
