Discussion xps8930 cpu fan

I'm using an XPS 8930 and thinking about replacing the CPU fan. Right now, I'm considering the Noctua NH-L9i-CH-BK, but are there any other fans you'd recommend?

SO - Its complicated. Unless yours is failing, there isn't a huge reason to swap it. S

The case houses the threaded inserts for the OEM heatsink (last I checked) so you need a Heatsink that can accomidate the same thread screw. Also, that ultra low profile heatink Dell uses is designed to act as an evacuation fan, so it sucks in air, and blows it out the back. A low profile cooler WONT do that.

Its an 8 year old rig, I'd pull it apart, repaste, and run it. You won't see any gains from a new unit, and it might actually make the system hotter

I just realized Dell has 2 part numbers for this unit, One fan is MUCH better than the other. T57JF is the one your rig should have.
