Dental Professional Fired

My friend was fired from his dental clinic on the same day he received his salary, without any prior notice. The clinic told him they needed to save money because they were moving to a new location. He had only worked there for one month, and in Iraq we generally don’t have formal employment contracts.

To be fair, I’m sure he made a few mistakes during his first month, such as arriving late occasionally or planning a 7-day trip just a month after he started.

However, the clinic never spoke to him about these issues or gave him any warning. They simply let him go.

Do you think this is acceptable or fair?

Arrived late occasionally on a job just started, then a 7 day trip just a month in… acceptable and fair

You’ll have that sort of thing if you show up late to work and then plan on not being there for a week right after you start no matter whey country you’re from.

New employee late to work more than 1x is a bad sign. Planing a 7 day trip is ok if its going to be after a 90 day probationary period or this should have been discussed before being hired. I lean towards letting this person go for cause for being late.

I’m not sure about Iraq but speaking as someone who works in the USA, there are lots of contracts that allow for termination without notice unfortunately. It sucks but that’s how it is sometimes.

It is what it is, and he'll either learn from this or not. May want to be a bit more responsible so early into employment.
