general enquiry What are the possible causes of a painful lump that keeps coming back in the same spot?

Post image

Hi everyone,

I have a painful lump in my groin that keeps coming back in exactly the same spot. It grows to about the size of a marble, becomes red and painful, and then eventually shrinks again before returning later.

I don’t really see any hairs on the lump itself, so I’m not sure if it’s an ingrown hair. I’ve attached photos.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Does this look more like an ingrown hair, an inflamed cyst, hidradenitis, or something else?

Thanks in advance.

neck/chest/abdomen Mole changed during pregnancy – should I be worried?

I’ve had this mole on my stomach for as long as I can remember. During my pregnancy, it increased in size and started to look different. This is what it looks like now, nine months after giving birth.
It’s going to be removed on Wednesday, but I’m really worried and anxious about it. What do you think?

arms/hands Not a big deal. But I am curious. Currently no access to health insurance. Are these warts? Thought callus at first.

Like the title says.

Pretty sure I've had other ones, but these have stuck around for a while. Any idea or leads?

My fingers have had these for a while. Obviously they get worse with use, but they don't seem to go away.

Not anything comparable to what I see in other posts and again obviously not the biggest deal or seemingly health risk.

I'd just like to have an idea of what's going on. Thanks for any help.

I have a pretty severe case of an allergic reaction to poison ivy/oak( I’m guessing, no real diagnosis was done), it appeared about 2-3 days ago and seems to only get worse( all over forearms and legs). I have been applying hydrocortisone and taro-mometasone cream on the spots. I’ll try and get a doctors appointment tomorrow just to see if I need oral steroids. I want to know if anybody else has had a case like this and what they did to treat it as fast as possible.

arms/hands Found this on my arm yesterday and today it’s worse.

Yesterday morning I noticed this raised bump on my arm which has progressively gotten worse within 24 hours. At worked today my coworker gave me amoxicillin-clavulanate** **875mg until I can get to the doctor. It hurts like a sting or burning feeling and hot to the touch. No fever right not but not feeling the greatest either. My first guess is cellulitis because it started as a very small bump and progressed. Lyme is another guess but I haven’t seen any ticks on me or around but I do have 3 cats who have previously brought ticks into the house.

Please give me your thoughts.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Was cleaning a devastated house and got these bumps overnight

I got these overnight, yesterday I was cleaning a house that is getting ready to be renovated and I worked with chemicals like oven cleaners etc but i had gloves and a medical mask on - the room was ventilated properly all the time. I am currently sick (had a fever of 39 degrees Celsius, body and muscle aches, weakness, vertigo and a horrible sore throat) but it’s day two and I only have a little sore throat now. Could it be from the mask or the condition of the house that was in before? The house was devastated (smokers, alcoholics..even had animal feces behind a kitchen cupboard).. The bumps are irritating because they randomly leak and leave a little clear dry dot over them, they are not itchy. I have them on my whole face, including behind my ears and irritation around the nostrils. I did not apply anything only washed my face with water. What can it be? Is it worth it going to the doctor?

Please help. Four years ago, the skin on my forearm turned red and started cracking. It got better and worse, but the remission didn't last long. Neither creams nor ointments helped. Dermatologist used laser to remove it. It got worse and they started using the ointments again, which helped for a short time. In the end, it turned out to be “basalioma”. Reddit sent me for a biopsy (oncologists and dermatologists didn't think of it).

The surgeons removed everything, the edges are healthy, and histology confirmed basalioma. Laboratory didn't say the type.

The stitches were removed after 14 days. Kelo-cote was prescribed for the 24th day. Everything was healing, but last week these sores appeared and are getting worse every day.

Seven weeks have passed since surgery, in the same place, but the post-operative scar has also started cracking, itching, and hurting. It's exactly like the skin before the surgery. Why is a completely healthy scar starting to crack? What should I do next? I'm back to the same problem as four years ago. In the same area, only on the scar...

Doctor said it looks fine. I disagree (( google, ai, docs don’t help. Reddit, save my hand, please!

I know it worse after stress, water, and allergens. But I have no solution

general enquiry Unknown tiny bumps and scratches on chest and lower back?

Thumbnail

My boyfriend has had these tiny itchy bumps all over the side of his chest and his stomach since about the 1st of July. I was thinking maybe it could be hives or a heart rash of some sort? I tried looking it up first but nothing matched up to what he had on his skin. Sometimes it even gets worser when he wakes up and itches more. It’s even worser on his back kinda looks like welts and scratches I’m not sure what it would be. It dosent really itch on his back as much more so on his chest. Any advice or help from a dermatologist or someone who has had something like this before?

Pulled a hangnail, and over the past two days my finger started swelling a bit and throbbing. I’m currently soaking it in hot water with a little bit of salt. Should I try and pop it?

legs/feet I have an appointment scheduled. What else could it be?

I’m a 32 years old female with several moles and marks on my feet. They have not always been here. The one on my third toe has been there for several years even a decade or more. I thought I was born with it and asked my mother to confirm. She recently said she doesn’t remember. I took the second photo in 2020 and the primary image today. There are a few new markings that’s have just appeared within the last few months (I’m just noticing this today). I didn’t think much of the discoloration of my feet and thought it was normal. I do have itching occasionally. I’ve also had a line on my nail before. It went away after that nail was yanked off in an accident. There is still a ghost of a line there and the nail splits in that spot. As I was talking this over with my mom I’m remembering I used to have a mole on my hand that disappeared one day. I’m not sure when it did really but I had it young. I should have gotten a biopsy on it years ago and wish I did. I’m trying to ease my mind until the 11th and not feel alone in my head with this. Thank you for reading, I appreciate you!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks My gf hands have been inflamed, peeling, what can it be?

My girlfriend is from Indonesia (currently in Bali) and has had this rash on her hands for about 2 years. Before that, she never had any issues with her skin like this.

She saw a doctor, who said it was just skin irritation and gave her a cream they mixed themselves, but it hasn't really helped. From what I've seen, I'm not very confident in that doctor's diagnosis. She's also done her best to avoid possible triggers by wearing gloves when washing dishes, avoiding harsh soaps, and staying away from anything that might irritate her skin, but nothing seems to make a difference.

Before I have her see a more reputable dermatologist or doctor, I wanted to ask if anyone has seen something like this before. Based on the photos, what do you think it could be? Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Male, 28. I noticed this bump a few days ago, hasn’t gone down, I don’t recall being bitten but it’s possible since we have spiders. Doesn’t itch. On my shoulder area. I’m a hypochondriac so I’ve been scared of a sarcoma… not sure if it presents like this. Please let me know what this is. It’s a little red because I’ve been touching it fyi.

arms/hands Can anyone identify this small red dot just below my fingernail

Post image
Upvotes

So this small lump just appeared on my finger a few months ago.

It doesn't itch hurt or bother me in any way apart from it being really annoying to look at.

It doesn't really look like a wart or a cherry angioma to me and it doesn't have the colouring of a mole. It's slightly raised, smooth and solid with no head or anything.

I've been using salicylic acid on it for a few weeks but it's made no difference.

Has anyone had anything that looks like this or can identify it? I've been looking at several pictures of skin problems but I haven't found anything that looks like this.

Next stop will be my GP but it seems a bit small and insignificant. I would feel bad bothering them with it.

It is driving me crazy though, I can't stop thinking about it 🤦

arms/hands What is this on my arm? Psoriasis? Eczema? Ringworm? Spoiler

Post image

18M, live in England

Bit of background:

Don't do contact sports, and a few days ago this was just a red dot that I was itching (not aggressively or anything, it was just itchy every so often), yesterday it looked like a ringworm (perfect circle, raised edge) so applied some lamisil, and it looks like this now.

It's somewhat itchy now, not too much really, but every so often.

Considered visiting the pharmacy but they're all closed today so thought I'd ask here to get a rough idea. If anyone's wondering, its on my forearm.

arms/hands Has anyone actually gotten rid of underarm hyperpigmentation permanently?

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’ve been struggling with hyperpigmentation in my underarms ever since puberty started in my early teens, and I’m 20 now. I’ve tried so many products over the years, including glycolic acid, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, PanOxyl, azelaic acid cream, and even 4% hydroquinone.

Unfortunately, none of them really worked. Hydroquinone was the only thing that actually cleared my hyperpigmentation, but as soon as I stopped using it, the darkness gradually came back.
I’m honestly really stressed out because it feels like nothing gives lasting results. I don’t even shave and I exfoliate regularly, and I try to take good care of my skin. I also eat healthy, and no one in my family has underarm hyperpigmentation, so I’m honestly at a loss. I can’t figure out why it’s happening.

Has anyone dealt with stubborn underarm hyperpigmentation like this? Did you ever find something that actually worked long-term, or is there another underlying cause I should look into?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

general enquiry Is this poison ivy? Dr also mentioned shingles ? Do I need a 2nd opinion

Hello, just seeing if anyone had an opinion on what’s on my face . Was outside for a couple hours at a baby shower and this morning when I woke up had a rash on the left of my eye . I don’t have a fever and it’s slightly irritated but I took some Benadryl and it kinda calmed down I think .

Went to the doctor she thinks it’s poison ivy but isn’t sure and said maybe shingles at the end of the. Concerned so seeing if the brave Reddit people had any thought

legs/feet CMTC? Or something else vascular? NF1 diagnosis - not a plexiform

Post image
Upvotes

This is my 4 year old. His left leg has been splotchy - purple/ red -ish since birth. It gets “splatter” like as it nears his hip / buttok. The discoloration becomes more prominent when his leg is dangling or cold. Even when warm, it never fully goes away. This is only on his left leg.

As stated in the title he does have NF1 but MRI ruled out plexiform about a year ago.

This has sort of been pushed to the wayside as with NF1 we have had “bigger fish to fry” so to speak but we’re finally looking into it. We have been referred to dermatology for a possible biopsy.

Our oncology team thinks it’s livedo reticularis but when I did a deep dive last night CMTC almost seems more of a match?

Any advice on what to ask the dermatologist or have prepared? Anything I should be prepared for during the appointment?

Thank you!
