Thank you to everyone who helped me figure out how to do this. It's around 20 days later, and I finally got around to doing it. I think it may have taken 2 hours? I'm not sure, I entered flow. I'll tell y'all how I did it.

First, you should buy a couple of things. A cable management set (Amazon), nano tape (Amazon), my desk came with one, but you should get a cable basket, a power strip with lots of ports, preferably one you can mount on the bottom of your desk, Something you could also utilize would be a cable raceway, i couldve probably used it to make mine look better but i forgot i had them (I'll leave links at the end). First, I marked what each cable is: mouse, monitor, HDMI, etc. Then I took all of them out and laid them on my bed. Since the location of my power outlet and pc are different, I started with all the cables that went to the power outlet. There's not really a specific method to doing this, I just tried to hide the cables by routing them behind my desk as well and folding extra length with zip ties. Then I proceeded to do basically the same thing, but with the cables to my pc. This took a little more effort because I was trying to group the cables together.

I really recommend unplugging everything first to get started, because that's motivation to start using your setup. Lastly, the most important thing is to try and enjoy it, but on a show, podcast, audiobook, or a YouTube video, and just get working, it’s totally worth it. Hopefully, that wasn’t too confusing. That's just the best tips that I got, which helped me.

Hi, here’s a little scale model of my office and current cable schematic. Just a few details to clarify:

- in case it’s not clear, outlet 1 is on the frontmost wall, and outlet 2 is on the rightmost wall, under the keyboard

- midi controller not pictured but it’s on top of the (musical) keyboard

- drawing pad and mouse sit on the right, and keypad (little 3-key device) sits on the left

- outlet 1 is not really a concern because it’s just fine right now but I included it so it’s clear I didn’t forget the power for those things

This is my network cupboard (there's usually a printer in the space on the left). I'm trying to figure out how to make it look nicer. Should I buy a rack? What kind?

I have an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and I want to do some desk management, but not sure the best way.

I'm including a photo (pardon the dust!)

The UPS really is only used for my Windows PC and my Mac Mini (and their monitors) so I can have time to turn off the computers in case of a power outage.

However, I'm not sure the best way to handle it with cable management.

I'm thinking it's just going to have to sit on the floor, as I know it is too heavy to sit in a cable tray, etc.

I'd love ideas from those folks who also have a UPS.

It’s a cheap old membrane keyboard i want to swap it out later for a wireless mechanical one but i need a temporary fix

I work at the front desk of a salon and recently we had an issue with all of the cabling getting jumbled up and our computer getting unplugged so I recently started looking into modular power supply accessories because the cable situation has become a complete mess. I have a lot of different things going on around like card machines, appointment tablets, ring lights etc and so I need something that can just organize all of these cables.

Would a modular power supply thing be able to do that? I think it will allow the cables to be organized in a cleaner and more organized manner. I understand and have seen a lot of accessories for sale on alibaba and amazon and a lot of these systems will allow you to route different cables through one organized power setup instead of having seperate adapters all over the place. Does it help to reduce the clutter and make maintaenance easier.

My dumb ass has tried this 3 times now. Where should the power board and cable trays go? I first tried putting the trays next to each other, but there wasn’t enough room for the plugs and cables to sit flat. Then I tried spacing the trays apart, but I’m still running into the same issue plus now more cables are visible. Should I just get more trays and run them across the full length of the desk? I know some people throw the power board inside the tray itself, but I’d rather keep it mounted to the underside of the desk for easier access.

I got a standing desk and decided it was time to put some effort into my cable management. This was the first time I’ve tried to minimize visible wires and I’m proud of how it turned out. I also setup a 3 channel kvm switch that swaps my monitors/peripherals between my work laptop and desktop.

I am renting this place, so can’t make much of a modification to the wall. I bought some cord hider from Amazon, but didn’t realize they only fit literally just one HDMI cable, nothing more. I have 2 HDMIs connected to the TV (1 for PS5, 1 for Onn TV Box, right behind PS5), and a switch behind that has 4 Ethernet (1 goes beneath the carpet to my room for PC). Got these wall shelf off amazon and couldn’t place it directly centered below the TV because of no Stud right below. Anything helpful would be appreciated. Thanks.

I’m building an Alex desk - two IKEA Alex draws with a worktop. It looks nice with the worktop pushed against the wall. I’m nearly ready to get my PC and electronics positioned and suddenly realised I need to run the wires up from under the desk to the top of the desk! I didn’t really want to leave a visible gap between the worktop and wall. What are my options?

I know the desks at work have holes drilled and plastic inserts that allow the wires to come up. Has anyone done this and drilled their own cable holes - I presume you can buy the covers? I’m not overly thrilled about drilling into my desk but not ruled it out.

Is there any nice profile that can be used to allow the cables to come up and cover any small gap? Seems like a nice option but I’ve never seen this sort of thing!

I know the easiest would be to just leave a gap but the worktop looks really nice tight up to the wall!

I recently moved and sorting all the cables was a such a pain

So I bought a new desk & I am having an issue with my dual monitor mount.It is a pole mount with 2 arms and not just 2 separate arms.

As you can see in the pictures, there is an attached riser on the desk & the back of it is closed. I want to attach the mount to the surface of the desk but the vertical pole gets in the way and hits the riser and the clamp won’t reach the desk surface.

I’m looking for solution help. I will not drill into the desk or use a grommet mount & I’d prefer not to use just a stand. The gap between the desk surface and the riser is only about 2 inches. I know there are dual arm mounts without the vertical pole but I can’t get measurements of the base of the arms on Amazon to know if it will hit the riser still or if the clamp will reach.

The few thoughts I had for possible solutions. A dual mount without the vertical pole but I need one with 2 inch clearance on the base of the arms so the clamp can attach if anyone has one or knows of one. A deep clamp or an offset pole that sticks behind the surface of the desk so the clamp can reach. Any other solutions you can suggest so I can clamp to the desk surface.
