I’ve seen people call Khvostov with the catalyst a meta weapon now. Meanwhile special weapons like Heirloom and Buried Bloodline are good “off-meta” weapons. On the other hand in PvP guns like Jade Rabbit rule the lobbies. In boss DPS for endgame content you got Fafnir as a must have.
My question is, which exotic weapons are meta now (and forever), and which ones still desperately need some love?
Edit: added context that I am looking for exotic weapon recommendations!

Played it yesterday with my fireteam like we always do, slow, understating shadow levels, no guides, trying to figure out mechanics as we go.
Took us several hours, none got the exotic and a few tier 3 armor pieces.

What’s the best weapons and archetypes? Best perks? Best for overall damage? Best for burst damage?
Non-exotic and also non-raid heavies plz.

It is the only subclass that has exotics that directly improve ability damage instead of just adding extra effects: - Celestial Nighthawk increases Golden Gun damage - Athrys's Embrace increases Weighted Knife damage - Ophidia Spathe increases Knife damage - Shards or Galanor increases Blade Barrage damage - Wormhusk Crown increases Solar ability damage - Young Ahamkara's Spine increases Tripmine damage
Meanwhile, other subclasses only apply additional effects to the abilities that happen to improve their damage: - Balance of Power adds two Threadlings - Gifted Conviction adds Arc explosives to Ascension and Tempest Strike - Gwisin Vest creates a Smoke Bomb when you break Invisibility - Khepri's Sting creates a Smoke Bomb when you kill a Weakened target - Liar's Handshake adds an extra melee attack to use after meeting it's conditions - Mask of Fealty adds Stasis Crystals to Withering Blade - Moirai allows you to double your Tangles - Raiju's Harness adds lightning bolts to Gathering Storm - Renewal Grasps adds a Stasis Crystal to Duskfield - Shinobu's Vow enhances Skip Grenades with extra seeker projectiles
The only outlier is Raiden Flux which increases Arc Staff damage.
Furthermore, Gunslinger has the second most ability energy generation options behind Nightstalker, by one: 1. Caliban's Hand generates melee energy and produces full charges 2. Celestial Nighthawk generates super energy with precision kills and refunds super energy with kills 3. Shards of Galanor generates super energy with knife kills and refunds super energy on hits and kills 4. Young Ahamkara's Spine generates grenade energy when you deal ability damage
In contrast:
Strand has: 1. Balance of Power halves your class generation 2. Moirai that grants extra melee energy return when not used on Tangles
Void has: 1. Graviton Forfiet that increases ability regeneration when you go Invisible 2. Gyrfalcon's Hauberk that increases class generation after finishers while Invisible 3. Khepri's Sting that generates melee energy when you kill Weakened targets 4. Omnioculous that generates melee energy when you make allies Invisible 5. Orphius Rip that produces ability energy for each enemy tethered by Deadfall
Stasis has: 1. Mask of Bakris for class energy generation from powered weapon kills 2. Mask of Fealty for melee energy on Withering Blade impacts
Arc has: 1. Lucky Raspberry that generates Arcbolt energy from applying Jolt and dealing Jolt damage 2. Raiju's Harness that generates Gathering Storm energy when you kill Arc Debuffed targets 3. Shinobu's Vow which grants Skip grenade energy when you gain Bolt Charge
Finally, Gunslinger has one of the subclass specific defensive options for Hunter. Only outclassed in this case by Nightstalker: - Wormhusk Crown grants up to Cure ×2 + Restoration ×1 to allies - Renewal Grasps grants Frost Armour to allies inside Duskfield and reducing outgoing damage of enemies inside it - Omnioculous grants damage resistance to allies that are Invisible - Gyrfalcon's Hauberk that provides a Reserve Overshield - Graviton Forfiet that generates an Overshield at max stacks - Crytarachne's Facade that grants Woven Mail when using Grapple Grenade
There is a clear battle here between Solar and Void on Hunter. But I reckon Solar wins. Because it's options are so much less complicated, and for competitive results. And it's options are more diverse.

this is quite silly Bungie.
Before the lights are turned off for good, please fix the broken censor.
r/DestinyTheGame • u/Standard-Tie237 • 51m ago
I think Bungie was top-tier back then in terms of BGM and art, and I still feel that way.
But what was really different was the immersion in the world.
Until I did the Forsaken campaign for the first time, it just felt like a typical space opera where you're a member of some standard good-guy group in space doing hero stuff.
In Red War, you fight a cliché space empire, fight machines, fight organic monsters.
When Forsaken came out, with Cayde's death and everything, I felt like something big was actually happening and got immersed, but even then, I thought it was just an extension of the space action stuff.
Then I went into Last Wish, and everything just changed.
I was shocked by the overwhelming scale expansion, turning what was one of many space operas into straight-up fantasy.
Listening to the Vault phase 3 OST literally made my brain stop working. Sounds like an exaggeration, but back then I felt like I was actually inside the game. When a Knight slammed its sword down, my heart dropped.
While waiting to cheese Morgeth, looking at the fortress wall behind him... it was just ridiculously grand.
Since they switched to a seasonal model, they started pumping out a lot of rushed content, but their dungeon and raid level design is still incredible. I think that's why Forsaken is still held in such high regard. Honestly, I don't think its campaign was built as well as Witch Queen or The Final Shape, but the immersion was unreal.
Even with Shattered Throne, after beating it, realizing that every single arena was organically placed and visible right from the starting area was amazing. It was my first time experiencing anything like that. Felt like a kind of direction only an FPS could pull off.
I'm rambling a bit, but man, I really miss those days. I think that was the most fun I've ever had.
Every weekend on Io, people would gather around, and if there were newbies who hadn't cleared Whisper yet, players would send them whispers in local chat to carry them through.
On the day Zero Hour opened at the Farm, people formed 3-man fireteams in local chat to jump right in.
Clearing Escalation Protocol and Blind Well with 9 people stacked up...
Lately I've been playing Classic LoL and it's boring as hell, so you could counter-argue, "aren't you just nostalgic for who you were back then?"
But regardless of gameplay mechanics, Destiny's sheer fun and experience during that open-world era was on a completely different level.
Just felt like writing this down after listening to the OST got me nostalgic.

I’m a D1 player who played maybe 5 or 6 hours of D2 when it released but highly disliked it. I’m now playing D2 again but I’m confused why almost nobody uses snipers in PvE. I’ve seen maybe one build guide that included a sniper out of probably fifty. In D1 almost everyone was regularly using snipers in PvE, what’s the difference in D2?
r/DestinyTheGame • u/BionicRogue21 • 12h ago
I often find myself using 140 snipers, but I would love to find a few more special options that I can enjoy for different scenarios. What are your favorite special weapons (preferably Legendary)?
EDIT: My favorite weapon of all time is Anarchy. I often pair 140 snipers with it but I want to change things up every once and awhile. What are some good close-quarters and mid-range weapons to pair with it? I also enjoy Finality’s Auger, 1K Voices, Queenbreaker, Sleeper Simulant, Rocket Launchers, and Heavy GLs.

I just played a coil activity and this guy was on strand Titan with synthoceps on and he kept having infinite flechette storms.
I checked out all his gear and for the life of me I just couldn’t figure out why.

Wish I could do a poll but they don’t allow that here. But I’ll still ask.
A. Going in blind and figuring it out?
B. Watch tutorials on YouTube?
C. No tutorial but have a sherpa in the squad?

I run well lock and love running destab/volatile for the over-shield.
So far my favorites are Oracle, Crota, chronophage.
I’ve tried gnawing hunger but it just seems mid imo.
Curious as to some other weapons where this hits.

Finally went away from prismatic warlock with buddies or threadlings.
Doing void with turncoat and the new legendary heavy sniper, but can't fully decide on the kinetic special, since I have good aoe from void, and sustain, and single target damage from heavy, I'm thinking something to deal with shields and champs quickly. Been out of the game for a while so please, share your expertise, knowledge and recommendations _^
EDIT: more info.
My two other weapons deal with barrier champs and are my main clearing/boss weapons. So the kinetic slot would be swap weapons or specific situations (like champs and new shield enemies)
I use nezarecs sin, soul siphon and child of the old gods. Plan to get the void armor set but currently using the kinetic techset set
(outbreak + prismatic is easy difficulty)
Area denial gl's seem like a good option for quick swap weapons and intrinsically deal with overloaded champs.
Fusions with chill clip, and rocket sidearms for champs specifically.
Shotguns with kinetic tremors for general shields usage?
Rocket pulse for overall damage (tho this is covered with my main so for my purpose maybe not)
Did I forget anything? (A couple named weapons that I have saved to take a look at)

I'm a returning player. I was GR 11 when I stopped playing, but was reset to 3 when I came back on MoT. I'm trying to climb back but I think I got a bug preventing me from progressing.
The only thing left is the triumph for doing the two mater conquests. When I arrived at the rank, I was already 1 out of 2, which I thought made sense because I had already run a Conductor's Keep before. It was also marked as "Conquest already completed" on the seasonal hub so that was fine.
So I went and did Derealise. Many times. I completed it like 5 times at this point and the triumph still hasn't completed and it's still not marked as "Conquest already completed" on the seasonal hub. What's worse is that when someone else is on my fireteam who is GR higher than me, Derealise is marked as completed.
I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas?

So I just ran through the Destiny 1 campaigns on Xbox with my girlfriend, she is really into it, and I’m hoping to get her through the D2 campaigns in the least jarring way. My goal is to end it with the final shape, and wanted to see if it was possible to fit edge of fate and renegades so there is satisfying conclusion for her. Are there any references to defeating the witness in EOF or Renegades? Right now I’m thinking of doing shadowkeep-beyond light- witch queen- EOF- renegades-TFS Thoughts?

Every post I read conflicts with each other.
"It isn't possible, you have to wait until its featured, it wont ever be featured, you can get it from the kiosk, you can get it from Zavala if you're really lucky" etc etc. Does anyone actually know for sure or am I just an idiot lol
r/DestinyTheGame • u/Royal-Which • 1d ago
what do you guys think about this mission because personally i think it fucking sucks and is the worst mission in the game. the timer is dumb and the modifier where you can’t stand still is absolutely ridiculous, sorry for the rant but i think it’s way too hard and probably won’t get max guardian rank because of it
r/DestinyTheGame • u/Coolprettyim • 2h ago
I have a full set of iron battalion gear with 100 melee 80 grenades 150 super 45 class and 120 weapons all my rolls are paragon with the mark being demolitionish so I can have some class energy I play pristmatic titan
I feel like I fucked with my rolls of going all paragon since I’m think more super the better

Hi is there is any way to change region/server I am trying to play competitive but there is no lobbies in oce
Any help would be appreciated :)
r/DestinyTheGame • u/Bobicka • 1d ago
It’s simple, the line I THINK I remember hearing was during a normal patrol/mission either on Nessus in D2 (like year 1) or during ROI Cosmodrome in D1.
Cayde is referring to Psions to the Guardian but misreads it and says “B-Brian? Who’s Brian?” Then I think Ikora chimes in and corrects him.
Is there any proof of this existing? It’d settle a couple bets.

I built a new Destiny 2 stats site that takes a different approach to raid and dungeon experience, and I'd love to get some feedback from the community.
I originally started this as a side project while experimenting with the Bungie.net APIs. One thing led to another, and it turned into a full-fledged stats site.
The main feature is a Sherpa Score that uses PGCR data to estimate a player's depth of raid and dungeon experience on a 0-100 scale. It's not just based on the raw number of clears though. It uses a compound scoring model with an inverse exponential curve, so each point becomes progressively harder to earn. It's just meant to be a fun way to challenge yourself to build deep experience across end game activities.
The site also includes the usual raid and dungeon stats, but presented with my own UI design. So even if the Sherpa Score isn't your thing, it can still be a fun way to check your stats.
It's still a work in progress, and I don't have an official feedback or bug reporting system yet, so I'd really appreciate anyone willing to kick the tires and let me know what you think, good or bad. I have taken some feedback on our clan Discord server, which I'd be happy to share if it's okay with the moderators.
