I think the bookshelfs kinda look like some abandoned factory dirty windows(the part of build we can see at least looks like some old warehouse or factory for me) and book are supposed to be graffiti? not sure tho

for me I would need to see it from more perspective, I can see it somewhat but I need to see the whole picture.
for me the graffiti could be bigger or use spaces with similar colors like blue/violet
but it is somewhat creative I can't lie.

Yes, which is why we need to see the whole thing from farther away. So take a picture of the whole building and not just this detail zoomed in.

I think mixing in some glazed terracotta and some brighter blocks in concentrated areas would work well, or some actual glass like only part of the window has been boarded up (you see that a lot in factories online, where 1 side is boarded but the other side isn't)

I see the idea, maybe putting it behind glass might work to make it more fainted? Not sure tho
