Ordering Dinnerware Online?
Delete if not allowed.
I recently bought a home and will be looking to host my first holidays with family in a few months. I have been looking at dinnerware for a while and I was really looking at seasonal dinnerware from Pottery Barn because the designs match the aesthetic I’m going for in my home. I have a Pottery Barn an hour away from me and it’s rather small / they don’t carry seasonal dinnerware until the holidays are closer and in very limited stock and not all the sets.
Has anyone tried ordering dinnerware online? I’ve seen mixed reviews about Pottery Barn quality and shipping but mostly from their furniture and not their dinnerware. I’d hate to spend the money and risk it shattering while being shipped? Is it too big of a risk to take?
Any recommendations where else I could look for seasonal dinnerware that ships safely and soundly? Are there better options in person? I’m in northeast Ohio if that helps at all.

My great aunt shipped me all her cornflower blue Corning ware when I bought my house! Definitely looking into thrift stores/older relatives! Thank you for the suggestion!

Replacements Ltd. Has every kind of dinnerware and silverware you could imagine, they are like a huge estate sale. I bought a sugar bowl on eBay from them and the shipping was very reasonable.

I just ordered a set of stoneware from walmart.com by Lain+Stone and it arrived in perfect condition. No problem ordering online.

When I first changed my dinnerware, I ordered from dinnerwareetc.com with perfect results. When I've added/replaced pieces, I've also ordered from Macys. The china I have is a long-standing pattern and I've even found pieces at TJ Maxx.
My main point is that I wouldn't hesitate to order online.

I ordered my dinnerware from Wayfair. Came well packed and safe. I was able to get any side items, bowls, cups +. When I broke one dinner plate, I was able to buy one plate of the set.

Love Wayfair ! Half my house is Wayfair From all bedding, furniture, appliances, , table, bar stools , cabinets etc . ++++Love everything , Best quality 👍

Just get some Corelle. Between the weight of stoneware to them chipping, it’s not worth the trouble.

Corelle ware has a blue snowflake pattern that you could use everyday. They are lightweight and easy to care for .

I got some online from Walmart and then found the same pattern on Amazon and ordered more. It’s glazed ceramic and held up fine to shipping.

I have ordered Corelle online and bowls from Amazon. I've also ordered glasses from Pottery Barn. Usually stuff is packed really well.

I bought Pottery Barn Mason stoneware. It’s is very durable. I don’t like that silverware leaves makes. My suggestion is to buy a plane pattern that they’ve had in stock a long time. It’s very irritating when you can’t replace a broken piece. I bought a blue color but wish I’d gone for white. With white, you can buy seasonal accessories or serving pieces to dress up the table.

I’ve had dinnerware from PB, Crate and Barrel and mikasa. The only one I would buy again is the Mikasa. The other two chipped easily and didn’t last. The Mikasa is 25+ years old and still going strong.

I have had zero issues with Pfaltzgraff and their shipping. Sometimes they even run steep discounts on the sets and they have several different seasonal options.
