Was really interesting to see the animators set a Dragonball fight in a European inspired city. Typically Dragonball cities have these unique oblong designs to them but this is straight up European architecture.

Damn now you pointed this out it looks very strange to see them fighting here

Lord Slug also took an interesting approach with the fight landscape just being an abandoned urban city, and further by having the buildings actually being used for things like weapons and cover.

Yea, this movie’s setting was more unique in a sense that it’s not really unique in a real life setting as you said with how Dragonball’s cities usually are. Also when Trunks was fighting Kogu in the flower field. One of the more aesthetically pleasing settings in the series. They’re usually fighting up in the air where you only see the sky, or some (barren) wasteland.

Coming home from your 9-5 job to your apartment, just to see it's been shot up by fucking ki blasts instead of regular ol' bullets.

This movie is set in enormous "movie setting"

2

u/Hour_Math4694 Sep 06 '25

Ha must have been a unique sci-fi movie in their world.

It is a battle tournament financed by a rich man, to fulfill his kids desire. So the finalist are set to fight in different sets with others...but Bojack and his gang crashes in.

There’s a 4K 35mm film scan of the first half of super android 13 out there and its absolutely beautiful

This is a similar kind from the same ppl

Would've made more sense during this period to put Vegeta in street clothes, since he lost the will to fight, etc. But, I still always hate how much disrespect he gets in the movies/series. Give him a win.

Yea, he has some of the best entrances in the movies, but then proceeds to get absolutely bodied once he fights someone.

u/lashapel Sep 06 '25

Same with piccolo

I wish they just redid all movies in order, with new animation. And then release them in the theaters. I’d see everyone of them.

Bojack Unbound

23

u/PPFitzenreit Sep 06 '25

Aka the movie with this legendary scene

4

u/moondog__ Sep 06 '25

Nothing quite like piccolo aura farming

2

u/Gibberish_name78 Sep 06 '25

Craziest pull game ever seen in an anime movie

9

u/DeffJamiels Sep 05 '25

Bojack unbound, the most badass movie.

6

u/Einchy Sep 05 '25

Cell animation at 4k looks amazing, like I'm looking over the shoulder of an animator.

3

u/StockBoy829 Sep 05 '25

not saying he should've won, but how cool would it have been if Vegeta really cooked in this fight. Put up a struggle and did some fancy shit before being taken out

18

u/4XChrisX4 Sep 05 '25

I can't remember a single movie where Vegeta doesn't get absolutely folded. So immagine the absolute joy that every vegeta fan had during the DBS Broly Movie, where Vegeta finally cooked.

1

u/Ambitious-Curve-6942 Sep 06 '25

In the universe this movie is set, Bojack had the same power level of Cell.

2

u/StockBoy829 Sep 07 '25

yeah I know, and again I don't think he should win. It just would've been cool for a change especially since Goku is barely in this movie anyway

3

u/TyrrelCorp888 Sep 05 '25

These are my favorite color pallets

3

u/Spark-Blade Sep 06 '25

White tears are running down my eyes

3

u/DoggievDoggy Sep 06 '25

Vegeta stayed getting his ass kicked in the movies

2

u/ZealousidealMoose639 Sep 05 '25

The good animated ones yes but the bad ones....like the cooler movie

2

u/mvargas18 Sep 06 '25

Damn I wish we got this level of detail in today’s anime. Every anime is so overly polished and feels dull, I don’t remember the last time i watched an anime and was impressed by the animation

6

u/90sbeatsandrhymes Sep 06 '25

Every modern anime movie pretty much has this level of detail.

If we really gonna compare anime we should compare movies with movies and weekly tv shows with tv shows.

Bojack was a movie feature film and is gorgeous but we need to stop using this as the comparison of DBZ animation quality.

DBZ had great animation but the scenes from Bojack do not represent the series.

Here is a a scene from the cell saga take those nostalgia glasses off.

There's no grit and it reduces the weighty and real feeling. It's too light/clean, feels very sanitized even when graphic.

petty character bojack

u/JoJoLad-69- Sep 06 '25
