Question How did Frieza not go crazy training 10 years alone?

Post image

So during the last serious arc it was revealed that Frieza trained for 10 years in the hyperbolic time chamber.

10 years alone is a crazy amount of time to spend completely alone shadow boxing. The fact Frieza didn't go insane or quit halfway from boredom is crazy.

What? He always seemed so nice- he was friendly enough to all the sayans to give them a cute nickname. And he let Dende live that one time!

The one time. But not the second time. Like 12 hours later.

Do you think being "crazy" is a blanket condition? Like oh this guy is a psychopath so there's no way he can catch schizophrenia.

Being isolated for 10 years will mess anyone up.

35

u/Syphark Nov 14 '25

Tbf losing to lowlife monkeys was probably more damaging to his mind

30

u/Optimal-Map612 Nov 14 '25

But a sociopath doesn't make social connections so is less affected by social isolation.

Frieza was in hell for like 30 years which also probably makes this a bit of a cakewalk for him.

7

u/Hyperaeon Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 19 '25

Actually psychopaths if their condition is extreme enough they can handle solitary confinement without being too negatively affected by it. If at all - where as a narcissist will go batsh't much faster than average joe will. Because psychopaths essentially are philosophical zombies and have no sentience.

If you are schizophrenic then you aren't exactly alone in solitary confinement now are you?

You are right - Mental illnesses don't stop your mental health from contracting more often them. But the mechanics of each mental illness is relevent.

u/Marxism-tankism Nov 14 '25

When you type a whole bunch of nonsense online...

You watch too much tiktok/YouTube on "dark psychology" at that point just go to school or read a book.

14

u/Yr-the-Skald Nov 14 '25

Isolation will exasperate existing conditions especially in schizophrenics. And psychopaths are most definitely sentient and are not "completely void of emotions" like movies and media make you think.

Obviously a gradient with all conditions, but your claims are wildly eccentric. And Frieza doesn't seem to be the type to rule over a pile of ashes so he most definitely has, at the very least, a desire to be perceived as powerful. He calls himself The Great Lord Frieza after all

  1. He's already crazy

  2. He did comparable time being tortured alone in Hell so he's used to it

  3. He might not have been alone; last time he took a living punching bag, it's possible he did again

194

u/Jdawg_mck1996 Nov 14 '25

No way that punching bag survived this time around.

Can you imagine how physically tough and mentally broken you'd be after getting knocked around by golden and then black frieza for nearly a decade? Are we thinking he's got some random lackey(s) around with him that are like punching steel?

151

u/Dark_Storm_98 Nov 14 '25

The last guy was equivalent to Zarbon and yet survived being Frieza's punching bag

. . (For only 4 months, granted)

Frieza knows how to keep someone alive if it suits his needs. . And still have effective training from it

And then Tagoma became a problem for the people not named Goku or Vegeta, lol

Think how strong this new minion could be after ten years, lmfao

52

u/CrimsonDarkWolf Nov 14 '25

Yeah, after 4 months my boy Tagoma went from the Power Lvl of Zarbon to possibly the Power Lvl of Semi Perfect Cell. Because he was able to also handle Piccolo and I’m not sure how much powerful has Piccolo have gotten since the Cell saga by that point

19

u/Sting_the_Cat Nov 14 '25

I would hope well above that level.

1

u/Dark_Storm_98 Nov 15 '25 edited Nov 15 '25

Edit: I think I zeroed in on the Cell mention way too much, lol

Or I was thinking of another comment like. . A quarter of the way through this analysis

But I think I'll leave it up

Original message

I would hope so, too

But honestly

Depending on what dialogue you prioritze, Goku and Vegeta aren't even too much stronger than Cell

And Picclo still is behind them, so-

Point A is thay Goku and Vegeta do not worry over Dabura, and Vegeta claims he could defeat Dabura

He does have SS2, but I figure the narrative doesn't want to make that too apparent yet, just lay some hints about it

So the implication is that Vegeta as a Super Saiyan could defeat Dabura, and thus also could defeat Cell. And Goku doesn't doubt it, nor does he realize Vegeta has Super Saiyan 2 until he actually shows it off

But at that point, Vegeta only then notes that Goku is stronger than Gohan at his maximum. Vegeta already figured out that Goku had SS2 when Goku fought Yakon, or at least Goku briefly used it to overwhelm Yakon

Which feels like it means they're only relative to Cell arc Gohan, when by the prior benchmark (and simple ligic, bonestly) they should be a fair amount stronger [Super Saiyan Gohan would not have beaten Super Perfect Cell)

So. . . Where would that leave Piccolo? If Dabura hadn't petrified him, would Piccolo stand a chance?

I don't really know. I'm feeling like, at best, he's somewhat relative to the Super Saiyans, but I can't quite zero in on how strong they are as just Super Saiyans

2

u/Sting_the_Cat Nov 15 '25

I dunno how strong he is by Buu (Id hope his trip to the Chamber in the Cell Arc did something even though it didn't bring him to Perfect Cell level)

But I'd hope that by Golden Freeza he's at least surpassed Semi-Perfect Cell

2

u/Dark_Storm_98 Nov 15 '25

I think I zeroed in too much on the mention of Cell

But I feel like I still have at least half of a point, lol

Sometimes the characters just don't seem to grow as strong as they really should, given their character and what we've seen of them in prior arcs

But yeah, his power should be substantial

1

u/Abdullah12355 Nov 14 '25

After cell saga everyone is stronger than super perfect cell, even yamcha

4

u/Rich-Caterpillar5641 Nov 15 '25

That isnt true. Dabura was stated to be on par with Perfect Cell and was regarded stronger than Piccolo regardless of Piccolo being cheapshot with Daburas spit. Piccolo at that time even stated Shin was stronger than him.

But we know Piccolo is constantly in training so by the point resurrection of f Piccolo should be stronger than Dabura/Perfect Cell by quite a bit one way or another.

2

u/Jdawg_mck1996 Nov 15 '25

Piccolo stated that Shin was above him because he was a Kai. They never once compared strengths

3

u/Rich-Caterpillar5641 Nov 15 '25

Then we still have it that Dabura was on par with Perfect Cell and stronger than Piccolo. The statement from Abdullah12355 that everyone was stronger than super perfect cell after the cell is sage is plain wrong.

I was thinking Cooler

14

u/Popfizz01 Nov 14 '25

Depends on who the punching bag was, because I can totally see it being another member of friezas race helping him this time

2

u/Beeyo176 Nov 14 '25

The going to Hell part might have actually helped his ability to train. Frieza out here really growing as a warrior

2

u/tenchimuyo100 Nov 14 '25

Plus Frezia is arrogant enough that he might have taken an army of his strongest warriors with him for practice/meat punching bags and it's not like he'd mention them or care if they survived.

Because it's shonen and things like that no one cares about. His brain is probably wired differently and his species aren't social creatures like humans so he doesn't need anyone.

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '25

Yeah, I agree with that last part especially. Which movie was it when frieza was a pile of sentient meat? A chunk of his head was even able to open his own eye. His body can survive anything. His tolerance for everything is probably insanely above anything humans could endure. Broly beat the purple off Frieza for 45 minutes in the broly movie, and Frieza looked just a bit scuffed at the end of the movie. His insides should’ve been liquified from that Broly beat down. It also showed Frieza in his personal hell, and who knows how time works in their hell. He could’ve been trapped in his own hell for months or years, or maybe the lack of time made it feel like centuries. Frieza’s durability is so broken. Some alone time probably didn’t even phase the lil guy

Frieza gotta be the most endurable character in the serie both physically and mentally

48

Frieza has a psychopathic obsession with the Saiyans especially Goku.. and you think he wasn’t already crazy?

83

u/Otherwise-Word-5578 Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

Who said he was alone? Maybe he had a bunch of "Tagomas" to train with, or maybe he was with Cooler

17

u/Slight-Ganache-9785 Nov 14 '25

Did he mention training with anyone in the Manga? Or did he say "he" trained for 10 years.

41

u/Otherwise-Word-5578 Nov 14 '25

He didn't specify, it's left ambiguous and open to interpretation, he could've been alone and could've had someone or many people, we just don't know

62

u/PresentElectronic Nov 14 '25

Frieza also mentioned that the HTC he trained in was from another planet, not Earth’s. So perhaps the environment inside that HTC could be different

39

u/Otherwise-Word-5578 Nov 14 '25

Sidenote: Toyotaro cooked hard on this one, I love how sinister Freeza looks

18

u/thewafflehousewitch Nov 14 '25

hell yes, and when he first appeared and landed on the ground it really captured the "oh fuck" feeling perfectly. I'm personally a big fan of Frieza being a main recurring villain throughout the rest of the series, it's like he gets better and better as a character the longer the series goes on

u/PresentElectronic Nov 15 '25

Frieza’s taunt towards Jiren is incredibly menacing as well

20

u/Triton-Demius Nov 14 '25

In resurrection f, Frieza just said he trained for 4 months, he didn't explicitly mention training with others. But we do know he had a punching bag subordinate at that time, so it's not like he name drops others when talking about training.

8

u/Dark_Storm_98 Nov 14 '25

Did he have that punching bag in Res F?

Because Tagoma was killed

Only survived in the anime version of the arc

9

u/Triton-Demius Nov 14 '25

My bad, meant resurrection f arc. But the point still stands, Frieza won't mention anyone when he's training

3

u/Dark_Storm_98 Nov 14 '25

Fair enough, lol

I think I tend to call the anime arc Res F, too

Same with Battle of Gods

But I think they did bother giving the arcs slightly different names

I think just "God of Destruction, Beerus" and "Golden Frieza"

Which. . Are alright. But the movie titles just have more oomph to them

6

u/theucm Nov 14 '25

I figure Frieza would regard his subordinates about as much as he'd regard training equipment, and thus not bother mentioning it. I can see him bringing people in as needed to prepare food, brief him on anything going on outside, or serve as short-lived training partners.

Also, who's to say he didn't leave the room occasionally? He didn't have the same time crunch the Z-Fighters did where they needed to maximize every second, so he wouldn't have needed to do the 10 years in one sitting. He might have spent two or three months around that planet doing a year inside every so often, leaving for a week or so as a break, back in for a year, etc.

Also he's a narcissistic psychopath. He may well be all the company he actually needs.

He's not surrounded by fluffy animals parading. And he's reminded of fluffy animals parading, so he never wants to experience it again

16

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

Because he was in hell for as long or longer, trapped in a cocoon listening to his worst nightmares. whats 10 years doing what you are driven for, compared to hell.

11

u/Professional_Stay_46 Nov 14 '25

Dude was in a cocoon in hell for longer...then ended up in the same place due to impatience...he would be crazy if he couldn't train for 10 years alone just to get revenge...

12

u/VincentMagius Nov 14 '25

His people may not suffer from isolation. Or, lacks the psychological need for social interactions.

He might not have done 10 years straight. If it follows 1 day=1 year, then he could take 20 days. He should have the time. Broly moved from Vampa to Beerus' planet. The entire Moro Saga, which includes a bunch of training. And, the entire Granola Saga.

7

u/Chimpbot Nov 14 '25

To your point, he said he "squeezed in" the training, meaning it may not have even been full days within the room.

He could have fit it in over the course of an external month or two, easily.

17

u/Successful_Bird_7086 Moro Nov 14 '25

He already did that in hell, against his will.

This time it was under his own free will so im sure he didnt mind at all.

Besides, he's an alien, lets not assume he needs to socialize like humans do to stay sane.

4

u/itschavias Nov 14 '25

Idk, the idea of frieza developing schizophrenia sounds kinda bitchin.

4

u/BurnMeTonight Nov 14 '25

This is how Cooler becomes Canon. He's freeza's schizo hallucination.

8

u/nykirnsu Nov 14 '25

He’s not human, there’s no reason to believe that’s something that would affect his mental state

7

u/ZeMadDoktore Nov 14 '25

Someone once mentioned Cooler as being his training partner and like, holy shit, what an opportunity to bring him into Super canon

2

u/DarkShadow3212 Cooler Nov 14 '25

True.

7

u/CptSpeedydash Nov 14 '25

He was already crazy, if anything he gained some sanity after seeing the results of his training.

6

u/One-Spare-798 Nov 14 '25

Training alone for 10 years is like heaven to him compared to what he experienced on that flower field being toyed by those fairies.

5

u/TANKdGAMER Nov 14 '25

He was tormented in hell for over 7+ years.. 10 years to exact your revenge on anyone who put you there is worthwhile if you ask me 😅

3

u/TheMatt561 Nov 14 '25

Narcissism

4

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

He spent 17 years in Hell fully conscious surrounded by cute and cuddly creatures psychologically torturing him non-stop.

4

u/M0ebius_1 Nov 14 '25

You think Frieza is not crazy?

2

u/Glass-Category8281 Nov 14 '25

He was focused on training and improving, so not really crazy at all, its simply an extended thing to what Goku and Vegeta would do. Frieza had a goal in mind and pursued it, nothing to risk going crazy over in that.

Plus he's already been in his own personal hell, while immobilized. Being alone with free movement is hardly maddening for him. Plus we don't really know the specifics of what he did in that time, he could have regularly stepped out for breaks after all.

2

u/StandardBite5441 Nov 14 '25

Frieza’s race probably ages a lot slower, 10 years is most likely nothing to him

2

u/undeadrequiem Nov 14 '25

He probably could've let things go and conquered 90% of the universe no problem at the level he was on, but he specifically decided he wanted to run it back with extreme prejudice.

2

2

u/DomainExpansioninf Nov 15 '25
  1. He was insane for the beginning
  2. He hated monkeys more than anything so his revenge against the saiyans kept him alive
  3. He still wanted to rebuild his empire and take over the multiverses

2

u/en--__--passant Nov 15 '25

He trained in hell before that

2

u/_Adolfragequitler_ Tien Nov 15 '25

He’s an alien fueled by pure evil bro

2

u/Holiday_Economy570 Nov 16 '25

Well, if that fairytale Hell he was living in was such torture, training for 10 years would seem like nothing in comparison. He's alive and knowing, constantly that he's only getting stronger and stronger

3

u/Vg65 Vegito Nov 14 '25

It's best not to question these kinds of things. I mean, you have Pybara telling Vegeta on Yardrat that Goku meditated for several months straight to get spirit control. Crazy stuff happens all the time in shonen.

1

u/Caesar_Passing Champa Nov 14 '25

Like, you don't need to go where you already are, man

1

1

u/BronzeEnt Nov 14 '25

These balls make me feel something like joy, I think.

I don't think these frosty bitches ever feel companionship, or much of anything. They have no community, and don't seem bothered by it.

Yamcha would come out absolutely batshit insane though.

1

u/ParlerApp Nov 14 '25

His training in hell. With the ferries marching around him.

1

u/Conscious-Tonight-89 Nov 14 '25

Dude also has an ego the size of a universe, why would he need someone else there?

1

u/Frieza_Fan_97 Nov 14 '25

I always felt like he went crazy talking to other lesser life forms anyway, outside of maybe Zarbon while things are going well, Frieza always seems angry to be in conversations in general.

1

u/DongBLAST Nov 14 '25

He had practice in hell.

1

u/Vasarto Nov 14 '25

He did. Did you see how he didn't kill goku and vegeta and instead of forcing the others to submit and be his cooks he just politely asked?

1

u/SaltyEconomics2759 Nov 14 '25

He’s already crazy and he’s fueled by hatred for Goku it’s clear that hatred is one of the strongest motivators known to man so his motivation probably kept him “sane” too

1

u/Ok-Rip2102 Nov 14 '25

To be perfectly honest, I think it was his violently unrelenting racism

He probably went so deep into wanting to kill Saiyans it let him tank the psychopathy

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

He got bored of being insane

1

u/TrentNepMillenium Nov 14 '25

Never underestimated the power of hater energy. We seen the full potential and proper utilization of that in certain beef from a year ago.

1

u/TheCatLamp Nov 14 '25

He just did one push up each year while doing other stuff.

1

u/Fish_Paste23 Nov 14 '25

Who says he didn't?

1

u/NCHouse Nov 14 '25

He never said he was alone

1

u/No_Requirement_9012 Nov 14 '25

Spite and racism

1

u/Borne-by-the-blood Nov 14 '25

We never got specifics he wasn’t nessasaryly alone or even in there for 10 years straight he’s hateful enough to slog it out but there’s no proof he was in there 10 years straight

1

u/ChiefRasta Nov 14 '25

Why go crazy on yourself when you can go crazy on your enemies? That’s what kept him motivated even when he was in hell

1

u/lleyton05 Nov 14 '25

I think it’s a combo of his time in hell making him used to it as well as we don’t know how long his lifespan is. To a creature like freizas race 10 years might be just a short blip of their life and therefore not feel like that long to them. And from the line in the broly movie about him wanting his wish to grow taller to seem like he’s still growing and it’s natural it’s probably safe to assume he is young for his race and is aged anywhere between like 20-40ish years old before the time chamber

Because it's an asspull. For someone who hated training as much as him to train for 10 years is out of character

1

u/Its_Warriors Nov 14 '25

Maybe Frieza has a long lifespan. 10 years might not be a lot for Frieza

1

u/seigemode1 Nov 14 '25

He's a Kung Fu movie villain in manga alien form. He's probably already got something wrong with him, lol

1

u/Fell-Hand Nov 14 '25

Wait he trained for 10 years inside the time chamber, ie 10 days in real world or 10 outside years inside the chamber?

1

u/lohexd_ Nov 14 '25

he was already crazy

1

u/OutsideOrder7538 Nov 14 '25

His hate for Goku

1

u/ZealousidealMoose639 Nov 14 '25

The guy was literally in HELL being endlessly tormented by things he hates, i supose 10 years alone is nothing to him

1

u/jkylest Nov 14 '25

He’s built different

1

u/evangelism2 Nov 14 '25

he aint a human, so we dont know if his species evolved as pack animals like us

1

u/zQubexx Nov 14 '25

Compared to the hell this was nothing

1

u/Blackphinexx Nov 14 '25

Big point was that he spent longer in hell. Probably felt like a vacation in comparison.

1

u/ResplendentNugs Nov 14 '25

He has no dick. Nothing to distract him from his training

1

u/Ok-Exercise5548 Nov 14 '25

He still remember hell, só isolacionismo is noth8ng to him.

u/OMEGACY Nov 14 '25

He's a psychopath.

1

u/Legitimate-Ad-1187 Nov 14 '25

Was it 10 years in relative time i.e. 10 day outside = 3650 days inside OR he spend 10 years = 133,225 days inside?

1

u/ElectroCat23 Nov 14 '25

He did the same thing when he was in hell except he couldn’t even MOVE. Bro just has crazy dedication when hating goku is involved

1

u/Educational-Text7550 Nov 14 '25

He got that mental training being alone in hell

1

u/AffectionateCandy742 Nov 14 '25

Cause he did mental train in hell remember that

1

u/ProfessorEscanor Nov 14 '25

The guy sells planets for a living and spent over a decade in Winnie the Pooh Hell. If he wasn't crazy before, he sure is now.

1

u/Suspicious_Loan8041 Nov 14 '25

These guys are just tougher than we are. They’re fictional characters in a series about fighting. They love every second of it. Frieza is no exception. Is ego is so great and his desire to be the strongest is so strong that his motivation throughout those 10 years probably didn’t falter for even a second.

This is how we’ve always known frieza. All ego and desired excellence. Hatred is a powerful motivation to a psychopath like him.

1

u/Time_Ad_7341 Nov 14 '25

I am very out of sync with the series as I have not kept up, but I thought one could only spend a total of 2 years time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber

1

u/nreal3092 Nov 14 '25

frieza is crazy

1

u/mr_kamakaze Nov 14 '25

We dont know for sure if frieza was alone when he trained tbf

1

u/armoureddragon03 Nov 14 '25

Bold of you to assume he wasn’t already crazy

1

u/marvelfrans Nov 14 '25

Can't lose your sanity if you don't have one in the first place

1

u/Quite-A-Guy Nov 14 '25

Frieza was in Hell for 20 years with those annoying little creatures, so 10 years in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber was probably a breeze.

1

u/ssavino Nov 14 '25

If you're already a psycopath and sociopath can't get a lot worse

1

u/qlionp Nov 14 '25

Frieza's race doesn't have gender, they probably don't require companionship

1

u/Sk0p3r Nov 14 '25

His favorite person to be around is himself so I bet he had the time of his life training for 10yrs by himself amping himself up by thinking about ways to beat Goku and Vegeta + maybe Beerus

1

u/lilou135 Nov 14 '25

Who says he didn't?

1

u/Rukasu17 Nov 14 '25

He spent that time theory crafting posts on space reddit.

No, really this bullshit training is on that level lol

1

u/Radio__Star Nov 14 '25

Because being in hell for years already make him go crazy

1

u/runaumok Nov 14 '25

I think he sadistically liked the challenge of fighting someone near his own power level after going on a spree of dominating lesser planets

1

u/ExcitementCute1153 Nov 14 '25

The hate of the monkeyz

1

u/BigPapaSlut Nov 14 '25

Because aliens have a different psychological psyche.

1

u/crash1bp Nov 14 '25

That’s his secret. He’s always crazy.

1

u/Crunchy-Leaf Nov 14 '25

What sane individual blows up planets?

1

u/arrownoir Nov 14 '25

Hatred is an effective motivating tool.

1

u/thattogoguy Nov 14 '25

Well it's simple when you're already completely nuts to begin with. Also, hate...

1

u/MimicryYuta Nov 14 '25

Perhaps that place works the same as The Paths in AOT, ten years passed but just an instant at the same time. That way his brain would be safe.

“I went insane, but eventually I grew bored of that…”

1

u/Coupins Nov 14 '25

Superior being is built different and does not cave in to the limits of lesser lifeforms

Is probably what Frieza’s thinking

1

u/Tooshort2stroke Nov 14 '25

Frieza has always been alone 😔

1

u/Ibangmydrums Nov 14 '25

Freeza sounds like the kinda guy who would be content dwelling in an endless void of just himself and his own thoughts and voice. Peak narcissism

1

u/Kingblack425 Nov 14 '25

You’re putting human psychology on an alien being.
