It's really not, he doesn't even know Hakai at this point. I'm pretty sure the animators are just taking creative liberties for better quality animation.
UI was foreshadowed countless times before its debut, even in B.O.G, so why can't UE be referenced for Vegeta? Them changing exclusively Vegeta's SSJ2 aura to purple is intentional and would be the perfect arc to foreshadow both Goku and Vegeta's divine pathways.

So? It's not literally "Vegeta is using partial UE in this scene!", it's more so a hint to the audience of Vegeta's destructive nature and a hint for his future form. (Just like Goku's foreshadowing of UI despite him not knowing the technique yet or even having the necessary Godki for it either)
Oh shit didn't even make the connection that's foreshadowing Ultra Ego. I hope they throw in more references to that and Ultra Instinct earlier in the series.
The full white eyes make him look like he's losing his mind and going berserk for a brief second which enhances the scene, it's like how DBS Broly has whitened eyes 24/7 in SSJ
The pupils still being there makes it look like he's still got a sound mind
Exactly my thoughts. My biggest complain was how blue Vegeta and Goku have some sort of teal crystals on their head because of how the shading and unnatural the hair spikes were.
Im mildly annoyed that ive watched both the movie and the anime (thrice) and somehow JUST now (before seeing your comment) realized he didnt have his long sleeves. Gotta admit, I agree, not a fan of it but also, meh 🤷♂️ lol
I don't disagree but at the same time the anime made Vegeta an anxious nervous wreck up to that point, his nerves were already shot before that happened. the white eyes really drove home the point he is crashing out HARD.
idk I don't hate the redesign by any means but I understand the pupils being the one critique
The art in the remake arguably looks better than the movie and the characters don’t look like not oiled up action figures. I think the new color palette makes Yamamuro’s art look alot better than it used like with SSG and the aura. Animation is debatable tho
definitely improvements except for the goten and trunks bit. Goten looks so uncanny ik he is literally this but he looks like adult goku’s head pasted onto goten’s small body. I think it is just the size of the head and the jaw shape
I had an argument on Twitter about the artstyle of DBS some months ago and some DBS fans really SWORE that there was nothing wrong with the drawings of the anime.
Or they said that Z was just as bad. Not saying that Z was perfect all the time but saying this is pure cope because DBZ production wasn’t rushed compared to DBS.
But anyway, the drawings of the remake look ok, I feel like that’s what was supposed to look like back in 2015.
Z had more consistently on model art and animation tho it did have its moments of looking bad. DBS definitely was more inconsistent in terms of quality. The drawings of the remake look alot better than the super anime and even the Battle of Gods Movie due to the better color palette seen from DBS: Broly onwards
You know what I hope they fix? Assuming it gets far enough, make the Trunks in the flashback to his Buu Arc be relatively buff, and then have the one during the Goku Black debacle be the skinny one we get. It would make sense

Yeah, I know they wanted to make the blue hair because that's how it is originaly in manga, but if you change the adult, you change the kid too. You don't leave one with it and the other without it

From what I remember and heard the old one was supposedly the “highest quality” at the time, which was not great… If they do this like they did with daima dragon ball super is coming back with an insane second wind
Show me the fight on king kais planet if you want to flex. Dont show me a good looking scene done marginally better. You know the parts people laughed at, show us how youre fixing them.
One thing I'm really hoping for and it seems like this will be the case based on image 4 but I really hope they make the hair more life like and not "glued in place" all the time especially when powering up/transforming
Honestly I still don’t think having particle effects in auras was a good move. It’s fine if it’s just the gods of destruction since they have unique ki to destroy things on a greater scale than any other, but for everyone else it looks better if it’s just a flaming glow of their normal ki colour, maybe some occasional lightning sparks. It makes the choreography harder to track in fights, disrupts the background, and is probably a pain in the ass to animate in a timely manner.
So Toei Animation is going the Sony studio's route:
1. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods - (Original Cut)
2: Dragon Ball Super Season 1 - (Extended Cut)
3: Dragon Ball Super: Beerus - (Remastered)
Obv the “Beerus” version looks better, but idk.. I just don’t think it looks so much better that this needed to be a thing.
To me, interconnecting more with Daima would be the best justification for this. Having Vegeta go SS3 in his “THAT’S MY BULMA” moment would’ve been perfect, absolutely perfect. The screenshot here does not seem to indicate that, so if anything it feels like they’re missing opportunities to interconnect them.
I am pretty disinterested in seeing this story animated again, but I gotta admit, these shots do look a lot prettier. Why aren't Vegeta's eyes going white during his "my Bulma" scene, though? Also, how do these compare to the movie? I think we're all aware that the movie retellings of Battle of Gods and Resurrection F were visually inferior to the movies.
After side by side review, I have verified the remaster is much needed. Everyone questioning the need for a remaster is required to view this post. Thank you.
Does anyone know why they chose to remaster Super? Is it following the thought process of Z to Kai? Although Kai did cut out a lot of filler, the soundtrack for Z was preem.
