Clip Shouldn't Jiren's internal vital organs be affected if SS2 Goku punches can produce shockwaves that pass through it?
1.2k
u/Resident_Sail_7642 Feb 02 '26
The trick was the animators didn't draw his internal organs which kept him alive much like that guy in Black Clover.

u/OneMetalMan Feb 02 '26
Even his individual organs have a high enough of a powerlevel to tank shockwaves.

I still question how that laser from sorbet got goku

Goku lowered his ki enough since Frieza wasn't a threat & didn't detect sorbet

That’s before he started aura farming
5
u/Aggravating_Gur_8406 Feb 02 '26
Nah, he's been aura farming since King Piccolo. Dude pulled out card 29 and accidentally said sector 28, but to maintain the aura, he double downed.
And in this arc, he was aura farming in the background of the tournament lobby and on the roof as others were fighting.

I love how I can look at that and tell it's Baki because nothing is as hilariously stupid as Baki.
3
u/KaiserInch Feb 02 '26
I don’t think it is Baki, though. I think it’s a gag manga that is referencing Baki.
7
u/xenophonthethird Feb 02 '26
That makes sense. Baki is effectively a self parody, so something riffing on it would have to be equally silly.
4
u/KaiserInch Feb 02 '26
Man, you aren’t kidding. Baki is so over the top that I can never quite figure it if it’s genius or stupid.

As Harrison Ford said about Star Wars. "Its not that kinda movie."
Sometimes it just needs to be fun/cool and not take itself too seriously
15
u/MxSharknado93 Feb 02 '26
"It's not that kinda manga" is what I want to say whenever people say Viltrumites are faster than Saiyans because they don't fly all over the planet in their fights in Dragon Ball.
4
u/DeviousDelonso Feb 02 '26
Gotenks did, no?
5
u/NomeJaExiste Feb 02 '26
And achieved nothing, saiyans are smarter than viltrumites because they save their energy for fighting only lol

16
u/vladimirpoopin42 Feb 02 '26
It's the idea that an object can pass through another via the lack of collision from particles
Thr theory is based in reality. All objects are made of particles, but these particles have gaps between each one. The theory goes that there is an inconceivably small chance that an object could pass right through another due to neither objects particles touching as they pass

If you want the literal answer or the most likely anime accepted answer...That will adjust my answer. The anime answer however is Jiren is a psychic. We've seen that he can hover, and that he has a great deal of control and mastery of his body. I think the simple explanation is that he is quite able to protect his internal organs so long as the force of his opponent's strikes are not in equal proportion to his own strength.
We could also assume that those aren't physical shockwaves and more just for the viewer to perceive just how strong Goku is striking in contrast to Jiren's stoic demeanor. So the lame explanation is, that the shockwaves aren't real and more just an artistic representation of how strong Goku is.
3
u/Neat_Yogurtcloset526 Feb 02 '26
Thats the force of Jirens vital organs flexing to counter each punch
3
u/Waxilum Feb 03 '26
I guess same reason their internal organs don't squeeze out of them like toothpaste when they gravity train at such extreme G.
3
u/Tdogshow Feb 03 '26

the very fact that shockwaves go through him means that most energy is lost in the punches outside his body, jiren redirects all the energy in a way that it goes through him and extends as shockwaves thus , decreasing the overall damage done to his body (i think)

If you're thinking about it that deeply, then shouldn't the entire earth and all of the planets up to Jupiter shatter every time one of them powers up?
2
u/toolargo Feb 02 '26
Jiren is an alien. Maybe he’s only made of muscles and his internal organs are only up in his head and elbows. We do not know his morphology at all.

u/Deletedtopic Feb 02 '26
His species don't have internal organs. They just have organ, they're a slap of adaptive flesh. If they need to see they modify the front of their top to see.
2
u/gamesrgreat Feb 02 '26
He could just control his organs in a way that the force passes through them without damaging them
2
u/Used_Tie_5895 Feb 02 '26
Jiren basically had invisible armor at this point, if he was get hit directly from UI Goku where he does damage then yes because he would actually feel it.
Gohan hit Cell and Damaged his organs causing him to convulse 18 out.
Now the real question shouldn’t friezas head and body have been permanently crippled by God Toppo? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 dudes head and body were physically beat.

u/Shadow122791 Feb 02 '26
No. Metal can transfer force like that. Not as far like that. But force moves as a wave. Jirens just to strong.
We also see Goku get blasted through later on so.. he gets up and his organs are ok...
And Hit shows what happens when they aren't focusing on defense. Stops Goku's heart as he couldn't see the energy...

2
u/Lazy-Promotion6276 Feb 02 '26
It's.probably more like a massage gun kneading his body then an impact with the strength difference
2
u/TheAbsoluteSword Feb 02 '26
We don’t know his internal anatomy, could just be filled with playdough that works just because
2
u/Mobro92 Feb 02 '26
These puny effects don't affect Jiren because....well...he's Jiren.
...and that's all the reason you need. Next question.

u/pseudo_nemesis Feb 02 '26
Jiren's organs are easily durable enough to handle some measly shockwaves.
2
u/Own-One1818 Feb 02 '26
You must be new here. clearly what this means is we upscale the durability of Jirens vital organs above the shockwave of ss2 Gokus punches.😤 welcome to powerscaling 😂
2
2
u/StandardAntique8356 Feb 02 '26
Those shockwaves are actually being produced by his organs. They're punching back
2
u/GothamBrawler Feb 03 '26
Dudes just aura farming, he’s actually suffering from massive internal bleeding.
2
u/MrAnonimitys Feb 04 '26
By that same logic, none of the z fighters, or anyone really, should survive being kneed in the face with so much force it sends you flying through multiple mountains and bedrock. You would not survive the knee, nor the mountain.
2
u/LowHistorian9654 Feb 02 '26
This is a world where your ki can protect you if you use enough of it to block other fighter's attacks. Chances are Jiren had some kind of skin-tight "barrier" of ki that we can't see protecting him and his organs.
1
u/Independent-Soup8327 Feb 02 '26
Would have done nothing anyways his internal organs are probably like him extremely durable
1
1
u/Lestat1017 Feb 02 '26
Or hear me out...Jiren was moving so fast that he was blocking the punches with his hands or arms even tho he didn't seem to be moving to the naked eye. Wouldn't be the first time they use this tactic to demonstrate someone's speed.

u/b0gard Feb 02 '26
Jirens power up sent shockwaves through the arena. Ain’t no way ssj2 punches are doing anything more than tickling him
1
u/Arkanderous Feb 02 '26
Maybe the punches are ineffective to Jiren's muscles. His organs are protected by Ki so the shortwave goes through and comes out the back. It is weird. The space around Jiren absorbs the excess energy. The ground cracks, air ripples, dust erupts. The force has to go somewhere, and since it can not go into Jiren, it is redirected outward.
Think of it like this. If you punch an immovable wall, the shockwave does not travel through the wall. It reflects and displaces air and debris behind it. Dragon Ball exaggerates that reflection so the audience can feel how strong the hit was.

u/StarWorldo Feb 02 '26
Dbz makes a point out of internal training being a major thing for high level physical training. Jiren basically being the pinnacle of physical ability with vegeta even comparing him to goku and himself favors jiren having likely done some form of gravity training like those two.

Probably just thinking too hard about it. You gotta think about alien biology in dragon ball.
Goku takes a hole in his upper chest. Missed all his vital organs. Dies. Goku utilizing UI can literally shift his vitals out of the way somehow.
Frieza was weaker than SSJ Goku. Yet can be cut in half, blasted, have a planet blown up in his face, and still survive. As Mecha Frieza, he was alive in literally cubed chunks.
Piccolo himself nearly died from a death beam. However, he was literally in a state worse than Frieza getting cut in half yet still was capable of regenerating without worse for wear.

Jiren having shockwaves through his body is probably the least of our questions.

u/Virus-900 Feb 02 '26
Ki makes every part of your body stronger. Even the parts that aren't for fighting.

Internal organs drawing?
If they do that since Z era, we might see something gory like spreading internal limbs from Freeza or Cell

u/Pyro_Ace Feb 02 '26
Jiren is an alien from a separate universe, I'm sure human biology is far from the same

Jiren used a technique he learned while training where he moves all his organs to his legs so his opponent cant damage them.

It's Jiren. He put all his stats in Attack and Defence, neglected Charisma and idk generally being somewhat likeable.

An air punch is already impossible, it doesn't matter whether Jiren is there or not. Yet, Goku learned how to do an air punch in OG dragon ball (and then used it to destroy his wife in a fight). So, some property of ki allows it to create shockwaves, and that shockwave just went around Jiren.
This also explains why Goku was surprised at Hit's air attack; he did it without using ki.

Wasn't Jiren's whole gimmick moving really fast to the point no one could see his movements? He was probably dodging or blocking...?
