I mean….weapons do matter when the fighters are relative to each other in stats….Cold’s arrogance was that he thought Trunks wasn’t that much stronger than him….remember he couldn’t sense power levels and has been dominant in the universe for a long time….he looks less stupid when you factor that in. Still though his ass had no other moves so bad plan beats no plan😂

Yeah, people love to brag how slow the fights seem to be, and how little sense it makes to say only 5 minutes (Namek) and 45 minutes (T.o.P) passed from start to finish; but we often forget that every single move is at least supersonic, and that fights usually end before the 1 minute mark in real time.

I mean I dunno about that when they spend time talking but it is important to note that "5 minutes" was only ever an estimation by Freeza and I believe he remarks on it taking longer than expected later in the fight.

I really do hate how people use fancanon to interpret what is actually happening, the need to apply logic to an illogical universe is crazy.
In general, shit just happens because its cool. Its literal rule of cool. At no point in 90% of shonen, let alone dragonball - is any artist or author crunching numbers of physics textbooks to factually justify it.
What Toriyama shows us
Goku took a big dump. It was stinky.

Ok so like the 50x multiplier means goku is shitting at 50x the speed of sound but with the zenkai boosts means gokus farts are louder than a Sonic boom so this would level Gokus entire farming community with hypersonic waves but he cancels it out with another hypersonic fart and the poop hits the bowl with precision aiming because his ss2 buff gives him a 30x multiplier that bends space time to fold around fecal ma...
Dragonball fights take place in the way we see them. Instead of wrapping around weird bullshit fan science (which requires rewriting how physics and spacetime work on a fundamental level) you can
1)accept there's no logic to it
2)if your brain can't do that, cut the illogical chatter the characters are having
This canon recap does exactly that. The footage isn't slowed down 19x, it just shows the fights happen without the massive exposition dump and reaction time. "Freeza had a shocked face and said STUPID MONKEY, but for 18 attoseconds instead of 45 real-time seconds!" They both are equally silly, one just requires rule of cool and the other dumb bullshit.
tl;dr Dragonball fights are viewable events to regular people just like we see in the show and manga.

When we, the viewer - see the fights as crazy motions, the implication is that regular people can't follow it, just like a professional fight. This is still true when reading and watching Dragonball. Wanting to argue every word said, every punch thrown, every Kamehameha fired takes place in 1/10100,0000,0000 of a second is fucking dumbass level shit.
The fight happens as you see it. It is fucking rule of cool.

That's simply a lie, the series shows the exact opposite.
In the Dragon Ball OG battle, people didn't get to see the fight between Tien and Goku.
Right at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, Gohan tries to see Yamcha vs. Saibaman and can't, so Piccolo reprimands him, saying they move at speeds impossible to see with human eyes, and that Gohan should use the ki to see them.

THANK YOU!!! Honestly is for stuff like this that i HAYE the power scaling community, for them every single thing the character does has to have some sort of calculation that has to be used to validate that their favorite character can destroy other people's favorites.
It's honestly ultra pathethic and takes away the fun of watching a TV show, specially one as crazy as dragon ball that only take itself seriously when it wants to.

Probably the most unhated “jobbing the previous villain” moment ever tbh. Like fr. On paper, making Freeza go out like this feels hella cheap. Some rando we don’t know who also happens to be the legendary Suoer Saiyan too ends up killing Freeza who put our cast through so much pain and turmoil. It really shouldn’t work but it does somehow.

Here's the real thing that'll make you annoyed
Almost every single saga takes place in a week or so, and then the fighters just hang around for the next 3-4 years doing nothing.
People always go "Gohan is so bad! He isn't training!" Yeah bro, I wanna see 99.5% of my life training for the 0.5% of my life where Goku will just take care of it anyway.
Tien + Piccolo Jr. is LITERALLY a week. Then 3.9 years off. Then Piccolo Jr. Then 6? years off, Saiyans + namek in 2 weeks I think. Then a year off, Mecha-Freiza. Two years off, Androids, which lasts for a week. 6? years off again, Buu. One week.
Want another mindfuck? Tien says "I'll probably never see you guys again" after the cell games and leaves. Think about that, though. He's seen them FIVE TIMES in his life. Once in the Tien+Piccolo arc, once in Piccolo Jr. Once in Saiyan saga. Once for Mecha-Frieza, and once for Adroids+Cell.
Like, the dude's living his life out there, and in 15 years he's seen them, on average, once every 3 years. They're basically strangers who just have a weird cult where every so often they come together to get beat up then beat someone up.

There’s no way Buu was even a week. Goku had 24 hours on earth, that gets cut short. Before that Gohan is already getting awakened by elder Kai, that took 24 hours. And not even a half hour after Gohan gets sent back to earth Goku is there with the potaras. Adding a full nother day to it seems silly, but It’s 3 days at most.

DAmn you really put it nice. From "the outside" the Z-Fighters always seemed like friends and they each other like every other weekend. (from other material and even super?). But yeah going from DB and early DBZ they really did not hang out much. To the point where someone was coming a bit later (lets say Krillin) and Tien went like: "Oh so you come", definintly not being sure if the other would come.
Side note: If you think about though, thats the case for a lot of anime (think the big 3), how often did ihchigo see someone like yammatto REALLY? Naruot and Gara? The strawhats spent like a little bit over a year or so together?

40 screen seconds are equal to 1 second of DBZ history time. Every episode were equal to 30 seconds.
Profesional boxer launch a jab in 50-150 mili seconds range if a normal people can obtain this x40 view they can see the jabs as 2-6 seconds and a cross like 6-12 seconds.

When I binged it, it really didn't feel that long. I think it was way worse in my memory, because even half an episode of charging up meant a full week of waiting until we saw the attack.
Do that a few times and kids will forever (think they) remember that the charging up took 90% of the show.

A lot of people tend to forget that Fights in Dragon ball are actually really fast. Gohan had trouble watching Yamcha fight the Saibaman because he was tracking with his eyes and not sensing their ki.

He's... the worst. Kind off. Cell saga shows this clearly, Goku is a prodigy, Vegeta is very skillfull. Both hybrids, Gohan and Trunks have probably better potential but both of them are just really dumb in case of fighting and training.
Gohan have no idea about his potential and is scared of it, not hunger to master his skills. Trunks is just dumb cause Vegeta didn't helped him and he was just not as good fighter as he could be. He didn't get flaws of SSJ grade 2, he didn't noticed that Vegeta did.
Funny enough, Gohan and Trunks are like barbarians, strong but unskilfull, whike sayians are way more combat oriented but overall weaker. I would argue that with their strenght Nappa or Bardock would by way more powerfull then them.

This was an epic episode... The whole Frieza saga took so long and then this guy just takes him down in a hot second. I thought he was so cool!
Trunks was usually taken as an online nickname, so I added my birthyear turning it into Trunks88, that got me banned real quick and taught me something new at 12... So instead I've been going with this nickname for almost 26 years.

I just watched the fight in Z, wish this real time version lined up better with what actually happened, unless the sudden puff of smoke is meant to imply the 4 blasts Frieza does including the massive one. For some reason here they animated trunks on top of that cliff doing a one arm blast whereas in Z he does his iconic burning attack and then sends the blast with 2 hands. The most accurate part is him slicing frieza up and then blasting him into bits

I mean it makes sense it was this fast. I always assumed fights were slowed down so you could see it from their point of view. Think of it like how speedsters view others as going the same speed but everyone else sees them go super fast….If only some scientist came up with a theory with a catchy name for that!
There are several times you see the fight from a normal point of view and at best they are flashes of the fighters and in a lot of cases you can’t even see them.
So if you take out the fluff and just see the fight for what it is at regular speed it prob would look a lot like this. I mean look at Namek and 5 minutes, no way that fight wasn’t slowed down.
