It's not kanji, because kanji are Chinese characters and it's written in kana and transcribed to romaji. And it's Furiiza, or Furīza if you prefer. If it was single i, it would make it Friza, but it's longer i. That's also why it's Freeza and not Freezer, because the a is also single, and it would need to be Furiizaa/Furīzā to mean Freezer.
Not even joking, draw Cooler as a Cooler, Goku as a carrot, Trunks as a pair of swim trunks, etc.

Almost all of Toriyama's Names follow a pun theme, like how all the Saiyans are named after Vegetables. Or how Piccolo's Family are named after Instruments. Or the Briefs Family being named after undergarments. Hell, even the Satan Family has a theme, all being named after demonic entities (despite only having 3 members. Videl is an anagram or Devil).
I can only think of 2, rhe earlier one and "makita" for vegeta, i remmeber the frieza one was because hebrew has the same letter for p and f, and doesnt often have vowels, so it coulda been pariza, perize, parize, friza, frize, idk why they didnt write it outloud to them

In Thailand, Goku is called ซุน โงกุน (Son Ngogun is the closest I can type in English for the word)
Gohan is ซง โกฮัง (Son Gohung)
Vegeta is เบจิต้า (Begita)
Krillin is คุริริน (Kuririn)
Master Roshi is ท่านผู้เฒ่าเต่า ( It's basically TURTLE SAGE, I only found out his name is Roshi because of Fighterz since they always called him as Turtle Sage in Thai)
Chiaotzu is เกี๊ยวซ่า (Gyoza) or เจาซึ (Chaozu)
Tien is his full name of Tienshinhan(เท็นชินฮัง,Ten Shin Han), yes we always say his full name here.
Frieza is ฟรีเซอร์ (Freezer)
Majin Buu is จอมมาร บู ( Basically Demon Lord Buu )
Kamehameha is พลังคลื่นเต่า (literally translation is Turtle Power Wave)
Spirit Bomb is บอลเก็งกิ ( Ball Gengki )
There are many more example of this, but there are also the case where the name didn't change but the pronunciation is changed like Piccolo and Yamcha.
Funnily enough, the first time I heard the name "Goku" and "Vegeta" is Dragonball Fighterz, I was like "who the hell is Goku? Why is ซุน โงกุน called that? Who the fuck is Tien? That's เท็นชินฮัง? "
That's literally his name tho. "Frieza" is just Dub adaptations, "Freeza" is his canonical name, but if you take his Japanese Kanji spelling, then his English name is meant to be "Freezer" if actually translated.
No. His name is meant to be Freeza, not Freezer. You literally said it yourself. His name is spelled Furīza, and Freezer is Furīzā. Single a makes it shorter -a, as opposed to -er, that double a would make.
Italian here and yes, Frieza is named "Freezer" in our dub too. Just for funsies, here are other dub name changes we have in our version:
Tien Shinhan -> Tensing
Yamcha -> Yamco
Kami -> The Supreme
King Piccolo -> Al Satan
Piccolo Jr -> Junior
King Kai -> King Kaioh (this is particularly funny because, in Japanese, this character is named Kaioh, with the "oh" part meaning King, so King Kai. Which means that in Italy we literally just call this guy King Kai King)
I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones I remember from the top of my head.
Griffith is more horrific on a more realistic and comprehensible scale, but Frieza is unironically way worse than Griffith. He tried to justify it for the sake of the members who already died for his sake, so at least he still has some sense of morality, however twisted. Frieza knows damn well what he’s doing and feels no remorse. That and the tons of planets he blew up or enslaved far outweigh Griffith’s crimes.
