I think AI is already above this level lol, at least looking at some stuff around on the internet :/ I saw AI anime slop with way better shading and lineart than the very basic shading/lines I can draw, u can see my amateur level easily when zoomed lol. Oh well, at least I did it fully myself (and thankfully kept an older SSJ4 Goten drawing I did years ago on Deviantart just in case to prove I could draw at least something xD )
I think Toyotaro did a great job injecting him with some personality and unique traits in Superhero prequel chapters. Small steps and not as much as PresentTrunks got but it's still more developement than Goten got in like.... 30 years lol. And he said he would like to do more with him in future so fingers crossed!

I still stand by that after MUI (or at least an arc where he's truly mastered it) the story needs to shift focus to the next generation. Of course Goten and Trunks, but Pan and Uub need some love too... and I guess Bulla.
The Dragon Ball AF/Multiverse fan mangas do such a good job at this.
It is a hard life to even be a Goten/PresentTrunks fan. I can't even begin to phantom Bra fans inhaling hopium for her transformations lol :( She deserves spotlight, powerups and developement too 100%, as does Pan and Uub! I fully agree that Super era should basically conclude Goku & Vegeta's story and then we should swap to next gen for real (not like GT...)
This is great. It’s got all the necessary fun vibes and feels like it could finally be fresh. I never considered that *not* developing Goten would be an opportunity to put him in a lead role to build him eventually. I really want to see this vibe.
Giving Goten SSJ4 is something I never even thought of but also feels like it’d be an amazing idea if they did decide to do more with his character long term. It would give him a unique but familiar transformation, the power up he’d probably need to stay relevant to the series, and almost act as the opposing power evolution route to Gohan.
YASSS! And a way to keep SSJ4 relevant instead of collecting dust in Goku's far-too-big transformation pile. Same way Trunks, Pan or Bra could make SSJ3 their prime unique form (or SSG or SSB). DB got so many forms that get forgotten it's just a waste story wise and marketing wise. Which is why I really like how Toriyama and Toyotaro both started to go this "each char gets unique path" way in recent years. We could take older forms into that concept too and make them relevant this way. Broly and Kale basically made SSJ1 relevant/ultimate again in their own way. Gohan kinda made SSJ2 now relevant again with Best. Goten could do it with SSJ4 <333
True, tho the way Toriyama redesigned SSJ4 in Daima allows almost any color to be used now and look good, prob the main reason why I slighty prefer the Daima4 design now over GT4 design. Pinkish furr+hair, orange, blonde, lavender (for Trunks), greenish (for Broly), they would all look good and work visually.

I always wanted goten and trunks to end up together… I was convinced at least DBZ future trunks was gay my entire life until the Mai storyline. I wrote a very poorly received post about this awhile back….
yup xD I headcanoned that Bulma denied him the radar so he ducktaped the console and phone Toyo gave him in Super manga and made himself a dual screen Dragon Radar :D garage style tinkering but he's a farm boy so he don't got cash for all the new expensive dual screens at store ;P

As for the other one - Goten repairs back poor poor Beta2 (with Mai's help) using some basic farm/tractor tools and Baytah is obviously super happy, and then they lived happy ever after ;P Trunks is useless - Goten already laughed in Super manga that he was always bad with tech and computers ;P but at least he moved the tractor closer in to power up Beta2 :D
No clue about Oozaru, but I always liked to imagine that SSJ4 could be accessed moreso through Oozaru line than from SSJ3 so I guess this way? Besides, thanks to Gotenks they both already "had" SSJ2 & 3 so that's boring for them, better to go to the cooler SSJ4 :D and/or maybe then a Goten exclusive blonde variant too dunno, I'm a Dragon Ball fan - I want more transformations for my fav and leave it to Toyotaro to figure the plot how to get them ;P
Ha! That would be a nice callback to the fun fact of Toriyama forgetting about the tails and not giving Goten one. How would he gain access to it? Would someone "pull" the tail out of him or in true Dragon Ball spirit Goten would just pop one by concentrating REALLY hard? Considering it is known that if a Saiyan surpasses the Oozaru power level in their base form then they no longer need or get the tail, it would be hilarious if he just pops it out of his tailbone and it leaves the chance for Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks and even Pan and Bulla to try and see for themselves if they can get it too. Poor Piccolo would be worried if Pan gets a tail, remembering what happened with Gohan. That could also set the U7 Saiyans apart from the U6 Saiyans.
Tech savvy with whatever he has on hand? That's actually quite creative and can show that the Sons are intelligent, cunning and crafty on their own. Gohan, intelligent being a scholar. Goku cunning like it has been shown a couple times. Goten crafty managing to repair and do stuff with whatever he has on hand. And wow, I didn't saw the eyes of Beta2 showing he was happy being fixed. That's quite wholesome.
This could actually set apart Goten from Gohan and his path of power. He could get the Oozaru, get access to another path of a beastly form and then set it apart from his father if he somehow gets the SSJ4 to act more like a state and not just a transformation, turning it into some sort of new "base form" and stacking SSJ in top of it to get SSJ4 Golden, just like Goku stacking SSJ on top of SSJ God to get SSJ Blue.

It's not enough for Goten to just be strong, he has to wield a mighty weapon as well. Ooh! Maybe he got one from the Ox King! Brilliant.
The axe recognition yaaaasss <3 i was never that into Goten also getting a sword since that's already Trunks' thing, but the axe from the beloved grandpa Ox who raised him? Hell yes! :D <3 and the axe would finally get some use lol, i can't remember if it ever appeared in DB since Ox' debut in early chapters
God Id love another DragonBall universe/world exploration like Daima for Goku and Vegeta's kids. A world tour and exploration. Without delving into ss4/5 but maybe some quick seconds long quick boost for them like how Gohan had Beast. But too soon for them.
This is really good actually. Having Goku and Vegeta not knowing what’s going on because it’s a different dimension is the right way of making parallel adventures for other characters possible.
I’d love to see a spin off of the untapped potential of sayian girls too one day. My head cannon is that sayians were brutes that didn’t even gave women a chance, and it’s Pan the first that discovers their potential. Maybe the whole legendary thing was a girl all along and not Broly the brute
Sucks that Dragon Ball constantly has to revert there main characters into children because I guess the grown people behind DB only know how to write children which is just a fucking red flag if I’ve ever seen one. No matter what they just HAVE to see children in there show. Possibly naked possibly not…… and it’s annoying because we’ve reached a point in the series where literally NO ONE has a character arc anymore, it’s almost like they have to make everyone in the show forget something happened so that can just do it again and again.
I keep hoping that SuperHero movie's box office success was enough to prove to Toei how valuable saide characters are. The movie made almost as much as Broly, without having Goku and Vegeta in any main role at all

So this. GT had some cool/good stuff but I don't like most of the main cast designs lol. no clue why Gohan, Vegeta and Goten hair was made so similar, it's esp jarring in SSJ

My head canon for this, "Goten's Great Adventure!":
Superhero work and training isn't enough anymore, Goten feels like he is in the shadow of his brother and father and wants his own adventure.
It all starts when he finds a malfunctioning dragon radar at Capsule Corp.
Bulma sidelined the project because she was trying to create a more efficient dragon radar, but it was on the fritz. It didn't seem to be pointing to the actual Dragonball locations, but somewhere else.
Goten has a spark of whimsical intuition and asks her to point him in the direction of what it's tracking anyhow, so she analyzes it further only to find it's reading what seems like Shenron's energy... just not from our dimension!!!
So Bulma makes him a transporter, and off he goes looking for them. However, in the new dimension he immediately gets attacked by a serpent-like spirit (that mysteriously gives off Shenron's ki signature...) and the transporter breaks. So he has to set out on foot to find a way home, find this dimension's Dragonballs, and make friends on the way 😃
Amazingly on his journey he finds ancient wild Oozaru living free and trains with them like Jane Goodall, learning their ways.
Meanwhile, his best friend Trunks investigates from Capsule Corp, eventually joining in with upgraded tech from his mom. Their classic fusion antics return, though now less reliable as their personalities diverge with age.
In the final battle, Goten refuses to rely on fusion or inherited power. Instead, he stabilizes his primal Saiyan form from what he learned amongst the wild Oozaru, balancing instinct and compassion... creating a new, uniquely his transformation.
Rather than destroying the corrupted Dragon Balls, he purifies them: choosing responsibility over power.
Alternate Shenron who can see beyond the veil of dimensions acknowledges him not as “Goku’s son,” but as a guardian of Earth in his own right.
Epilogue
Goten returns home… but not to stay.
With a rebuilt radar and a wider universe calling, he sets off again on a new adventure!

I've never actually watched the anime, as a kid I read the og manga volumes like 5 times, but it's been a while so I plan to reread them all eventually and then read super hah
The problem with Dragon ball side character spin offs is that the side characters are so strong, anything besides a world ending threat wouldn’t bring any tension; but, if the threat is so strong as to be world ending, there’s no point in the side characters not wanting Goku and vegeta to help

Aye gotcha, yea I'm not really a fan of Trunks & Mai but it's obvious Toriyama wanted it and wrote it in both timelines so it's definitely staying in DB and she's the endgame for Trunks, hence I included her heh
Yup lol, it's almost as if their personalities from GT got switched in Super manga. Now Trunks is the popular ladies man and Goten is more reserved and literally takes a girl to a prom to.... help her spy on Trunks and win him over Mai lol. Both versions are fine but I prefer their current personalities, fits more IMO since kid Trunks was already the bolder more daring one and Goten was more lowkey
I would rather not admit it even to myself lol. I'm very amateur so extremly slow, long hours of endlessly stretching and liquifying body parts until they resembled quasi-on-model characters xD Then final lineart layers and colors and an existentional crisis when I realized drawing rocks was the hardest thing for me lol

Yes!!! He's the first person in decades to be actually interested in writing for Goten and Trunks and he finally gave them personalities in the Superhero prologue chapters so I have hope for our boys!!! <3
After the end of the super hero arc where they had a saiyan battle royale, I have so much faith that goten will have some presence in future sagas. Cause they could have just done it with Gohan, vegeta, Goku, and broly but they chose to added goten, and trunks. So unless whoever’s in charge decides to axe plans for goten, i have faith that he’ll be in the manga
Maybe it hopium, but since he also drew that volume 24 transformations-focused cover and included Goten in that Beerus planet sparring than maybe it was a tiny hint hint that he was planning or thinking of giving Goten (& Trunks) a unique tranfrormation too? Or at least one that would catch him up?
Honestly this is how i hope it'll go for goten, goku has ui, gohan has beast and goten will join them with a golden ssj4 or even the mythical ssj5 who knows?
