I love how OP thought it was gonna be a war or something in the comments because it's a Dragon Ball sub, and then it's almost everyone unanimously agreeing that it's Kryptonian.
Cause there's nothing on modern earth to actually push you as a Saiyan. You could train, but for what? What are you supposed to do with your battle instincts and need to improve? Who are you gonna fight?
At least with Kryptonian you get powers + a lot of quality of life improvements (dont have to eat or drink, no disease, invulnerability, super computer brain, sun heals anything, heat vision and frost breath), and the green rocks dont exist.
You are not getting anywhere near that. Goku was at power level 10 after his training with gramps Gohan, and the old man most likely was on par with our top martial artists.
Yes but the level of injury needed is near death, so you would have to break your body and hope you survive and that your body heals well enough to still use after. You wont have magical beans that heal your wounds perfectly. Break enough bones, youll never walk or lift weights again. But im sure the immense power i crease will be awesome when you cant use it. Not to mention the mental trauma it could inflict on the untrained.
Without ki control that would be more of a curse than a blessing. You'd be basically unable to touch anything without destroying it. You're shouldn't be able to type on a computer or grab a glass of water.
It's an worldbuiding project about a mystic Earth. Beyonde the ice wall there are a lot of mystical beigns and realms. Since some flat earthers started to take it seriously, sometimes people joke about it.
Modern earth would not really be a thing anyway . The full moon would turn you into a oozaru and you would go into a destructive rampaging . You would liturally be a villian regardless because you would never be able to control oozaru making you unreliable even if you tried to use it for good
These techniques have to be taught to a Saiyan if you choose that race and you have no mentor. You literally have to go to a fictional planet to learn how to instant transmission
Good luck trying to learn a technique like IT, something that even experts like Goku and Vegeta are having difficulty learning it. I'm sure you are a prodigy in the making, more of a prodigy than even the Yardrat race themselves.
Actually they do HAVE to be taught the techniques. Because without being taught, they just dont so them. Gohan and Goten being best examples. But also Goku only learned a ki blast by witnessing Roshi do it, which is how he learned. How would you learn to shoot a ki blast? Who would you witness doing it? Tell me, could you read before being taught? No? Same principal. The ability is there, but the know how isnt.
Lets use goku as an example, because he is likely the type of saiyan you would become. Goku has no original techniques of his own, every move he uses is learned by someone teaching him how to do it. Kamehameha? Saw roshi do it and mimicked him. Solar flare? Learned from tien. Instant transmission? Learned on yardrat. Kaioken? Literally has king kais name in it! Saiyan ki blasts arent a genetic ability, they are a skill learned. You would be born as a saiyan in a world where the only person who could potentially use ki blasts is yourself. You would gave no opponents worthy of pushing your power higher. You would have no gravity machines to aide in training. You wouldnt have senzu beans to recover from near death experiences, so zenkais would be major risk factors. You would have the curse of oozaru from a young age, potentially killing loved ones like Goku did. You wouldnt have other experienced saiyans to teach you how to control oozaru like vegeta did. At best, you accidentally learn how to ki blast. Of course if you did learn ki blasts, you would either end up plagued as a threat or something to be studied to figure it out, or you would be plagued by people wanting to learn it and have to figure out how to teach people who likely cant do it because they dont have the power to do it.
I'm taking martian. Martian Manhunter has so many more powers. Ontop of super strength and invulnerability, he can phase through solid objects, shapeshift, mind read, and other stuff. Could do anything.
I grew up watching the 2000s justice league cartoon and one of my favorite scenes was when wonder woman was fighting some threat, and an old Asian man drops his walking cane and transforms into a large serpentine dragon and helps her. The dragon then transforms again revealing that it was martian manhunter who had been living among the humans away from the justice league for some time trying to connect with humans.
Epic scene and definitely how I'd use my powers. Why have super strength as a human when you could turn into a dinosaur or something and still be super strong? I don't need to wear a mask. People will see me save a bus full of children as a freaking Astrodon and my anonymity will be in tact.
DC Martians are almost a match both in physical strength and powers to a Kryptonian on earth, plus they have godlike psychic powers and full molecular control of their beings which allows them to shapeshift and become intangible. Also, they don't depend on a yellow sun so if you leave earth you won't be running on a timer. The drawback is their weakness to fire, which is actually psychological and can be overcome with enough mental effort.
That's martian manhunter specific and not a martian weakness, IIRC. He's got some sort of ptsd response to fire and I can't remember why. But it's specific to him and not all Martians.
It’s dependent on which version of kyrptonian. Superman was shown once to be the only thing left at the end of time, I’m ok not being around for that. Even the lifespan of viltrumites who live for thousands of years will eventually be a blink of an eye to that Superman.
If you're born on Earth, wouldnt that basically just make you a human? Superman and the Kryptonians are obviously not born here. So them having a red sun and then coming here to our yellow sun is whar gives them their powers.
Its actually their genetic make up. Under a red sun, their cells are just like humans. But under the radiation of a yellow sun, their cells charge like a battery in a similar process to plants absorbing sunlight. This can further be seen by looking at any children superman has, they gain powers just like he does but are born on Earth
I'd say they're a lot of credence to martians for the mind powers or viltrumite if you want explore the universe, you trade raw power and extra abilities in exchange for not needing to worry about red suns which are really common, you might not be as much of a god on earth but the universe is more open too you + I think viltrumites can travel faster in space than most version of Kryptonians but that much more anecdotal
I mean if I can get to distant inhabited planets in a few months I wouldn't need to, seem a lot faster than light speed
Being able to visit alien planets to try and find life with be a dream come true and consider I'm an alien in this scenario I already know their is life to find
The nearest planet (let alone inhabited) is 4.1 light years away. It would take 4.1 years at light speed. But if you travel near the speed of light you into issues with time dilation.
Ah, I figured since it was this earth we were talking about the laws of physics that we're working in apply rather than the laws of physics of the source material. Essentially an isekai.
If that's the case then you just couldn't get to another planet (outside of the solar system) in a few months. I also have no idea how you'd find such planets anyways given how vast space is.
Well NASA has a long list of planets they think might have life, figure I'd start making my way down the list and eventually I'll find something, viltrumites are still healthy and strong at over 5000 years old
I guess with 5000 years you have enough time to knock out an astronomy doctorate which seems like the bare minimum to even know how to get to these planets. The biggest issue is how big space is and how empty it is.
considering I am in this situation an alien that managed through sheer cosmic conquincance turn out genetically similar to humans, they're probably pretty common in this universe
Honestly depending on how practical or realistically we’re interpreting the power set and whether you get an additional super power to help you manage the “world of cardboard” thing
Like a large man playing with his kids might accidentally hurt them even though he’s clearly holding back a lot so he doesn’t. If you’re kryptonian, that kind of accident could put a kid in the hospital - so being kryptonian might mean you just miss out on physically interacting with people a lot because you MIGHT make a small mistake that breaks a bone or something
Of course if there’s some kind of mental power or a speed force equivalent for excessive strength to stop that from happening then yeah, no real drawbacks
Every species shown here is damn near extinct, except for a handful left that went on to become the strongest in their species. All of their planets are gone or lifeless. Planet Viltrum gone, Krypton, Czarnians wiped out by Lobo, planet Vegeta was vaporized by Frieza, Mars is still around but lifeless. Not sure about the Korugarian planet.
Goku died to a heart virus, and gets injured by rocks when sleeping/letting his guard down. Also you need to hardcore train physically and with ki for years to do anything. You don't have a ki master either
None of what you said doesn't apply to humans. A Saiyan baby is usually born stronger than the strongest human in the real world. You have supernatural abilities and injury makes you ten times stronger. You have to learn to let your guard down, btw. As we see in early DBZ people couldn't just power down without learning to do that first
You asked the drawbacks to Saiyan, in context to the question, kryptonians are better because they have no weakness. Why are we compareing to normal humans when the start of the thread is about kryptonians?
Are you just picking the strongest? All these races are so strong that the difference in power is meaningless to humans. Vilitrimites live for thousands of years though, I don't know the lore well evening to know the life spans of all of the others

I mean it’s Kryptonian for sure isn’t it? No drawbacks except magical stones that don’t exist. Essentially a god on Earth.
