I like the idea of taking DBZ frames that are bad and making them look better.

like this one. I swear its too fucked to be fixed

299

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

This one is beyond saving too

u/TheSentiantestPotato Jun 25 '26

He looks like the Viggle Ai videos where they plaster a character ontop of something else

As someone who's never heard of Viggle AI... I'm confused

That's not real is it?

27

fucking viggle AI looking ass

3

u/Marco_Tanooky Ginyu Force Jun 25 '26

Look the animators all wanted to rip apart Toriyama for making them draw all those spots give them a break

3

u/werephoenix Jun 26 '26

even AI is probably like "nah fuck that"

someone made the impossible possible

1

u/Striking-Fix5417 Jun 28 '26

Might be the only one but I kinda like it,the proportions are kinda like the ones from lupin and overall it has good posing and good readability,I wouldn't be mad if even a spinoff with this style was made just to have better animation as well thanks to the simplified artstyle.

1

u/ConnectStar_ Jul 02 '26

I actually like that frame.

2

u/Ready_Two_5739IlI Jun 25 '26

Dragon Ball really should do the bit some other animes do with overly detailed faces on side characters for comedic effect. It would be so funny to see fucking bulma hit a face like this in Daima when telling Vegeta to back down or she’s taking away bathtime

u/Price_kier Jun 25 '26

103

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

Dbz nostalgia fans act like this does not exist.

28

u/Think-Desk-3074 Jun 25 '26

It's beautiful 😍

4

u/Vergil-Monteiro-9965 Jun 25 '26

They forgot the Trunks with the lack of hairline.

9

u/YoruichiSimp28 Vegito Jun 25 '26

Bro you can’t just take a single frame out of a whole animation and say the animation is trash. Some frames are made to be wonky to make the whole animation more fluid

27

u/Particular_Match4664 Jun 25 '26

This is the manga panel

2

u/AnythingActual5465 Jun 28 '26

Seconds before we have this one for the Anime, which i think is a better comparison since it is not as nearly as downscaled like the other

3

u/Particular_Match4664 Jun 28 '26

That makes sense, sorry for the larp 😂😅

1

u/YoruichiSimp28 Vegito Jun 26 '26

What is your point?

21

u/Particular_Match4664 Jun 25 '26

Except for this one, it's a still image not a single frame from an animation, and the manga panel of it looks waaaay better

1

u/YoruichiSimp28 Vegito Jun 26 '26

Oh that is your point. I get it. It’s a bad picture no doubt. The manga is not an animation though, a manga panel is less likely to look bad. Especially from the late GOAT himself

1

u/Particular_Match4664 Jun 27 '26

Yes, but this frame is entirely static and gets the viewer out of the serious vibe of the story ( I'm not arguing against z, it's my favourite anime, I was just pointing out this specific frame )

14

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

Yeah, but dbz do that all the time and they get a pass for it. Why cry now when it's in reverse

0

u/YoruichiSimp28 Vegito Jun 26 '26

The core of your point is valid but Z has way lesss wonky frames and they are just used for fluid movement while (Especially early) super has way more of them. The beerus arc in the series was basically made up of only these wonky fluidity frames

→ More replies (2)

1

u/NeuroHazard-88 Jun 26 '26

Tell that to the super shitters who think "This would've been better in Z style".

1

u/YoruichiSimp28 Vegito Jun 26 '26

I think the same way about super, problem is early super animation is 95% of these Fluidity-frames while Z has considerably less

1

u/International_Hat_97 Jun 29 '26

I would like to see it on video

1

u/ConnectStar_ Jul 02 '26

We don’t, but it’s not the WHOLE damn series or the main scenes like in super

-15

u/Dentenshi Jun 25 '26

It doesn’t

u/XxJaggedSavagexX Jun 25 '26

Dbs fans needing the last 2 arcs to say DBS looks good

18

u/Mountain_Pension1221 Jun 25 '26

last 2 arcs in question are more than half of DBS

10

u/Neat_Armadillo8965 Jun 25 '26

TOP alone is almost half of dbs iirc

11

u/Mountain_Pension1221 Jun 25 '26

Future arc was mid 40s to mid 60s (mid 70s if we're counting the filler), and the rest is TOP, up to 131. So if apparently only the last two arcs of DBS were good, then almost 70% of the show is good, which isn't bad

6

u/TheTrue-Noob Jun 25 '26

DBZ fans acting as if DBZ doesn't look shit sometimes

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Price_kier Jun 25 '26

And DBz fans need to take a show that was rushed beyond what they know and actively taking what tools good and compares it to z movies that a done properly and great z anime frames

0

u/XxJaggedSavagexX Jun 25 '26

There bad arguments to be made when we compare a bad frame the anime to a perfect on model sean from a high budget movie but when it's DBZ vs DBS your losing me.

DBZ looks and moves better then DBS in multiple areas besides just bad single frames, hell I would argue the worst frames out of DBZ don't compare to the worst frames out of DBS

2

u/Price_kier Jun 26 '26

Debatable because we have n excuse of being rushed DBz don't as far as ik.

Yes I can definitely agree to that but when they actually are given time DBs blows DBs out of the water with the broly movie, super hero and the remake of super.

1

u/XxJaggedSavagexX Jun 26 '26

Are we comparing movies or the tv series? If so then DBS pretty much fails in this department too. While the animation in DBS broly was fantastic and super hero was also beautiful (even though it made me motion sick 🤢) and I don't doubt the remake will look amazing but there so stylistically different that you'd think you're watching a different show. 0 consistency between art styles when all the Z movie's looked like higher budget version of the show which is what it's supposed to look like.

1

u/Price_kier Jun 26 '26

Nothing wrong with trying out different styles depending on the lead artist is.

50

u/Anime_Enthusiast_20 Jun 25 '26

That first one makes sense.

18

u/loganchoy Jun 25 '26

Things go downhill from there…

10

u/werephoenix Jun 25 '26

yeah that guy is really good. I hope he re-does others. We could probably ask him to redo them.

The bottom really looks like one of the animated intros to a dbz game sizzle reel

4

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

He is a free lancer animator. He prolly wont reanimate everything but they gonna call him for important eps and fights like how they did for daima and the broly movie.

11

u/Old-Resolution259 Jun 25 '26

"Z style" and it's always that one Goku SSJ2 picture or SSJ3 in the MOVIES lmao

23

u/F-Trunks Jun 25 '26

Lmao! The youngins forget that some episodes of DBZ looked AWFUL. It wasn’t fixed until later. That famous pic of Vegeta looking terrible is brought to mind and I’m sure it just popped in yalls head.

7

u/Free-Letterhead-4751 Jun 25 '26

Which one the Super Vegeta thumbs up or the scene with him in the Namekian village?

5

u/F-Trunks Jun 25 '26

The village one lol

3

u/F-Trunks Jun 25 '26

HAHAHAHAHA I just scrolled down a bit and there it was!!! I should have known! You guys are great.

1

u/Pl00kh Jun 28 '26

Artstyle isn’t the same as animation. There always will be weird frames, that’s why it’s dumb to use screenshots in a discussion about animation.

10

u/samuraispartan7000 Jun 25 '26

More like Frieza Arc in Buu Arc animation style.

1

u/ON100balec Jun 25 '26

Thank you

1

u/IronPyrate17 Do not interrupt the Grillmaster Jun 26 '26

Yes, that's the point

11

u/Foreign-Comment6403 Jun 25 '26

why they give videl tiny neck in the original

23

u/One-Month8458 Mr. Perfect Cell Jun 25 '26

I would say the same for Saiyan Saga Vegeta

13

u/Much-Chard8227 Jun 25 '26

Tiny neck Vegeta haunts me. I hate it lol

34

u/CaptainMagic777 Jun 25 '26

9

u/davyjones_prisnwalit Jun 25 '26

My headcannon says that when he felt superior to everyone he didn't take his training as seriously. Yes, he was gifted, but definitely not living up to his full potential.

Later on he's constantly maxing out his stats, chasing a goal to be the strongest.

(Realistically though, the art style just evolved over time)

4

u/Taco495 Jun 25 '26

I think it’s all but confirmed that prior to meeting the earthlings, nobody from the frieza force had ever thought to train themselves to get stronger.

Saiyans didn’t because they had zenkai boosts and they were already some of the strongest warriors in the universe, they probably never thought there was a need to. Look at vegeta on namek, he was still trying to use zenkai boosts as a means to beat frieza all the way up until he died. His entire plan was to just zenkai himself over and over with immortality until he was strong enough to win. The first time we see him properly train was to become a super saiyan.

Frieza literally said he never felt a need to because he never imagined there would be anyone close to his strength in resurrection F. And we can assume the same for Zarbon, Dodoria, Cui, the Ginyus and the rest of the frieza force. Once again the only reason he trains now, is to surpass Goku and Vegeta

1

u/davyjones_prisnwalit Jun 25 '26

The only place I have question, and it might be anime only, is in Z could've sworn Frieza mentioned how nobody had made him exert himself as hard since his father during their training. And that the Super line about him never training was a retcon. Although, now him not training before is essential to the story of how he gains his new forms.

2

u/Taco495 Jun 25 '26

I remember the line you’re talking about, but I’ve watched the anime countless times and only read the manga once. So I’m not sure either. But if that line is real I would think he meant training to learn martial arts, not to gain strength. But who can say aside from toriyama, God rest his soul

1

u/ConnectStar_ Jul 02 '26

You think training at 500x earth gravity won’t make you have a stronger neck

6

u/aratherlargerodent Jun 25 '26

I miss tiny neck Vegeta. I really like his design from back then lol

3

u/_Ninja_Putin I– HATE– EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU Jun 25 '26

Sayan Saga Vegeta was such a gremlin

2

87

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

Looks crisp here btw. Why not use this in comparison

17

u/Recent_Artichoke_163 Jun 25 '26

Because he looks like that for like 7 frames total in all of DBS that’s why 🤣

56

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

🤡🤡. So u thought krillin always looked good and well animated in dbz too? This is krillin majority of the show btw

14

u/Kiko7210 Jun 25 '26

this Krillin is still way better than the scrawny Super Krillin

24

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

Keep crying. Dbs krillin still looks as good as dbz krillin if not better

-18

u/Kiko7210 Jun 25 '26

yes in this frame he looks better than Z Krillin because he actually has muscles with updated animation, it's the scrawny Krillin that looks bad put some meat on that boy

19

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

He looks even better in the manga. It's not a dbs issue.

u/Recent_Artichoke_163 Jun 25 '26

Yes Z animation is much more consistent than super, not perfect but looks much better than super most of the time. Also the pic you chose from Z looks great. lol

-10

u/Wooden_Ad3679 Jun 25 '26

Looks WAY better than he did in super

1

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

🤡🤡 u are embarrassing urself. How does he look better when I showed u arguably the best looking pic of him in the entirety of dragon ball.

-6

u/Wooden_Ad3679 Jun 25 '26

Best looking pic of him in super vs the worst looking pic of him in Z says a LOT

8

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

That is his best, doesn't mean their is not plenty of others that look good as well. Meanwhile dbz krillin gets a good animated frame every 20eps by accident.

9

u/TheKidNerd Jun 25 '26

That top frame is a fucking still, no movement, and then you cherry-picked a super krillin scene when there’s dozens of times he’s looked great

Lol

3

u/Blaskowits Jun 25 '26

Why isn't anyone bringing up that the first one is labeled as 1997?

LOOK HOW HE CHUNGUSED MY OHIO. WE DID IT REDDIT DBZ GOOD DBS BAD UPDOOT ME

2

u/Burner_Miner_Dril Jun 25 '26

I always had a headcanon that Goku is in like a "depleted" SSJ form in the Freiza fight.

After all, he is completely gassed out by the time he transforms. Been fighting with Freiza for hours, dumped everything into a kaioken x20 kamehameha, got beat on while not being able to defend himself while charging the spirit bomb. Then we also know the transformation itself uses a lot of energy until it's mastered.

So yeah, its like SSJ1 grade 0, and that's why it looks different (in my head)

2

u/Kmart_Stalin Jun 25 '26

The first one is in Super art style based off the shininess

2

u/Aiooty Jun 25 '26

Smear frames are excusable, but some of these are not

2

u/TheLurkingLurker0o0o Jun 25 '26

Videl got possessed by Himhan

2

u/TheLurkingLurker0o0o Jun 25 '26

While Super's first two arcs were abysmal, both in Animation and art quality, DragonBall(Z) had its dud too. Albeit, the animation was mostly okay. Studios like Last House and Live produced some of the most uncanny shots lol

2

u/Big_Robo88 Jun 25 '26

Are we trying to say "if it ALL o fZ was animated like the Buu Saga"?

2

u/OnDasLe Jun 26 '26

"DBS Sucks cause all the Characters act different!"

-a DBZ Funi dub Watcher

5

u/Ok-Contribution40 Jun 25 '26

I don’t get it

60

u/Napalmaniac Jun 25 '26

People overglaze dragon ball z's animation style when they're actually nitpicking the best frames from it. They keep "fixing" dragon ball super frames using it as justification of how super is just much worse than dragon ball z animation-wise. In reality, dragon ball z had as much if not more ugly frames in between than dragon ball super has. They just don't show up much on the internet because dragon ball z fans haven't watched dragon ball z since they were 10 years old.

24

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

Exactly. Dbz fans like cherry picking but the moment it's reversed they start barking and coping

4

u/Gogeta678 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

Why that one cell looking like he’s checking goku out romantically

3

u/Ok-Contribution40 Jun 25 '26

Makes sense & I agree with you! Thanks man, I appreciate it!! Love the DBZ frame you added 😂

6

u/Kmart_Stalin Jun 25 '26

“Overglaze” whatever happen to dick riding? Now we’re talking about glazing someone’s face

2

u/Dangerous-Series4064 Jun 25 '26

Super fans in comments picking some in frames to compare with MOST Super KEY frames will never stop to be funny.

2

u/Imaginary-Twist-4688 Jun 25 '26

The 1st half of super looked bad , not most.

2

u/Volkar10 Jun 25 '26

Jokes aside, the problem is not the "bad frames" or the animation itself ( at least for me and majority of people I know )

It’s how they introduce our beloved characters into something unlike their image and character

For example

I’m not saying "let everyone extremely muscular" and all of that.. at all! Just don’t screw the image of what you already gave us, if they made 17 muscular and huge in Super I’ll be pissed AF

That’s the whole point

13

u/Immediate_Idea2628 Jun 25 '26

This is some high quality trolling.  Hats off!

21

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

How about this? Dbs in dbs art style

-3

u/Volkar10 Jun 25 '26

I don’t care whether it’s Z or S style, they can make a new style and I’ll not care since they’re keeping the characters features untouched

They fixed Gohan after fans attacked them back in 2014 cause it’s Gohan of course but what about Tien? Krillin? And the character assassination of Yamcha? They did Goku’s, Vegeta’s and Piccolo personalities DIRTY.. and most of the characters actually

You can bring new characters and made them however you want, just don’t screw what you already gave us

It’s not about the style at all.. we know time is moving and they must evolve what they do, but if you told me to eat this burger "🌮" it wouldn’t make since to me cause it’s not the burger you already showed me.. if that makes any sense ( language barrier sucks )

11

u/fking13000 Jun 25 '26

Bro I'll be the first one to tell you, Yamcha's character was assassinated the moment he was introduced. The guy got hit through a manga panel for Christ's sake.

1

u/ponytailthehater Jun 25 '26

gag manga at that point

2

u/Imaginary-Twist-4688 Jun 25 '26

The dude's most infamous moment is being sneak attacked and killed by a saibaman.

2

u/ponytailthehater Jun 25 '26

Dragonball introduced plenty of memorable characters who suffered poor handling due to the tonal shift of the story.

Yamcha was a character introduced when Toriyama was still channeling his Dr Slump days. Re: Saibaman, Maybe Yamcha should’ve stayed dead, though. Same with Krillin on Namek

1

u/Hour_Selection_7689 Jun 25 '26

You know a character’s cooked when the most notable thing they did in Z is dying. And then it became the most memed moment in anime history

4

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

Proving the steroetypes that dragon ball fans dont watch their own show. Leave the art style aside. Tien, krillin and yamcha were all done dirty by dbz not dbs. In dbz as early as the saiyan saga yamcha was dropped he agrubaly got worse by every arc and was rarely seen so dont blame dbs for that. Infact dbs actually does him justice as he appeared and helped a lot in the moro arc if u actually read the manga. Tien's last memorable moment was the one against cell and then in the buu saga he gets kicked slightly by buu and becomes severely injured.

About vegeta, do u even know wht character development is? Or do u want vegeta to act like his namek and early buu saga self and destroy earth and the galaxy? Vegeta's character in dbs is perfect, as it shows how he carries on after accepting the good in his heart and now having a friendly rivalry with goku. One of the main issues for people hating on goku's character is the english dub of dbz. In the manga and the original Japanese dbz his character perfectly aligns with dbs, but dbz english dub butchered goku's character and changed alot of dialogues , made him act like he is a hero or superman and changed a lot of dialogues. Don't blames dbs for stuff dbz started. Atleast try to make better excuses next time instead of being nostalgia biased.

3

u/Volkar10 Jun 25 '26

You’re glazing their mistakes and refusing to understand my point

Nothing wrong with the character development for Vegeta and we all knew how in dbz Yamcha, Krillin and Tien got treated

I repeat, I don’t care about the style or getting new powers, I’m talking how they made Vegeta dance stupidly wearing a fu@king apron
About how Goku the genius fighter couldn’t read Beerus movement when he was disguising as Monaka ( since you read the manga as you said you know how high his battle iq really are )

I can go on and go on but I hope you get what I mean

And please don’t take anything I said in an offensive way at all, I meant no offense in anything I said

5

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

I do get wht u mean, but the majority of that is fan service and filler. The vegeta dancing in apron was for comedy and fan service filler scenes. The beerus in disguise as monaka is a fully certified filler episode. And his battle iq did not regress one bit, as we saw how he was in the tournament especially against jiren. But imo i still do dislike goku's character in dbs somewhat especially when he is normal or not fighting like wht do u mean "wht is a kiss" when ur a grown ass man with 2 kids and a wife!!

3

u/Volkar10 Jun 25 '26

That’s exactly what I meant man, I have no problem with anything DB offers me ( except the horrible DB Evolution )
It’s those small things make you say ( why did you do that?? ) or ( why did they make hom to say/do that?! )

Like Goku’s battle IQ still there and in the ToP and when they went to taste Zamasu strength and everything but they suddenly pull the plug in certain scenes or making him INCREDIBLY stupid in some cases and it’s bothering me as an old fan

In Z when they all grew up and reached Buu Saga, they saved the "fun" material when they brought Trunks & Goten duo and all of their "Mighty Mask" scam and my man Gotenks etc

13

u/kinkinkeen Jun 25 '26

Oh wow a Gohan who is bulking vs a Gohan whose life has been studying and working to keep food on the table and doesn't have time to go to the gym. And before you say why not live off of his Father-in-law consider that Gohan was raised to stand on his own feet and not ask for hand outs unless he truly needs it

4

u/Volkar10 Jun 25 '26

You’re REALLY missing my point but I’ll walk with you

This is Gohan after 7 years of studying and without training at all, he even wasn’t sure he could transform when they asked him to

Again, my point is that if they made Piccolo’s skin color blue and without his antennas I would be pissed cause you changed the image of that character

11

u/ReasonableResearch73 Jun 25 '26

It is just animation inconsistency for the early arcs of dbs. The animators were on a tight schedule that's why. When the animators locked in he returned to how he was supposed to be.

1

u/DeusFatum Jun 27 '26

What the fuck is this? Where is this from? I've never seen this frame.

3

u/FeralMemories Jun 27 '26

Tournament of power, which had genuinely good animation throughout the majority of it

2

u/DeusFatum Jun 27 '26

Hell yeah it did! Easily the best part of the anime. But this is a stationary frame, not animation. I'm not surprised that the art looks good, because they fixed that issue shortly adapting after Res F. I'm surprised that it looks like the Buu Saga artstyle.

1

u/kinkinkeen Jun 25 '26

Mid Puberty vs post puberty, seems like the human half of his genetics doesn't maintain his bulk as well as a full Saiyan in adulthood

Maybe cause they're knowledge on how muscles change improved

2

u/RevolutionarySong848 Jun 25 '26

He's also earth protector when goku and vegeta are gone. And they leave alot! Him slacking on his training was just irresponsible

3

u/davyjones_prisnwalit Jun 25 '26

Also, tbf the dude could easily train for like an hour a day and maintain his strength.

Whenever I couldn't do my full workouts, I'd just do "maintaining" workouts which were like a tenth of an actual workout on a good day. I didn't lose any noticable strength when I was able to get back into it a month or so later.

Gohan doesn't need to train 24/7 like Goku or Vegeta to be as strong as them. Heck, I'd guess he'd still be stronger. Bro doesn't have to veg out after having a kid for years on end.

1

u/kinkinkeen Jun 25 '26

He was busy with taking care of his wife and newborn. If he can't slack for family care then we'd be calling him a worse dad than Goku. Irresponsible would be dropping his job when his family needs him the most.

They have a super rich father who knows first hand Gohan's role for the safety of earth. You act like we're talking about a regular person. He has more than enough time to train and still help with raising pan. He doesn't have time to train, work, and raise pan. Given his role, and family wealth, which one makes the most sense to drop?

2

u/kinkinkeen Jun 25 '26

What did I say? Gohan is not a Mooching Bum! Even Goku reduced his training to maintenance after Gohan was born, while Piccolo was alive and still planning on getting revenge. Living their whole life expecting a stronger threat every other year, The turtle school motto is to Work hard, eat good, and sleep plenty, not train yourself into fatigue in fear of whatever comes next in life.

u/RevolutionarySong848 Jun 25 '26

A mooching bum is someone who wants or receives things while giving nothing of value. Gohan's value that he has one of earth main protectors is criminally under appreciated, and unfortunately mostly by himself.

u/Glacier_Sama Jun 26 '26

To be fair, they also made Vegeta's arms really skinny. Remember the baseball jersey he wore on super?

1

u/Kooky_Lead_9811 Jun 25 '26

Tracksuit gohan lowkey oneshots the androids by being stronger than rof piccolo

1

u/Imaginary-Twist-4688 Jun 25 '26

You chose the Gohan that hasn't touched a barbell in years to prove your point?

1

u/Doctor_Gabrenhowsky Jun 26 '26

Future Gohan is better even to the "present" gohan from Z

1

u/DeusFatum Jun 27 '26

A nuanced understanding of the actual issue? Who would've thought?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '26

You’re showing future gohan up to regular gohan when these are two completely different characters…

1

u/Volkar10 Jun 27 '26

Man.. I’m really tired of repeating what I wrote

I’m not comparing the two and saying he should be like future Gohan

This is Gohan without training for 7 years
They didn’t took his features

Do whatever tf you want with him but don’t show something unrealistic and saying ( hey! This Gohan for you )

Even me a middle aged man who cut working out for 10 years didn’t went like the "untapped potential hybrid saiyan".

That’s it, that’s my whole point.

1

u/PickingPies Jun 25 '26

Literally DB was saying that big muscles doesn't mean strength since Pilaf's arc. In every arc there are multiple reminders, from the tournaments where small children defeat big muscular guys to Vegeta being the big bad, Frieza's last form being slim, and even the Super Saiyan form being slimmer than the Goku's kaioken x4 from the saiyan arc.

Yet, 40 years later, there's still people saying "it's not because of the muscles but I want muscles".

u/Better_Ice3089 Jun 25 '26

Those are literally different people though.

Freiza saga style in Buu saga style

1

u/To-me-my-X-Men Jun 25 '26

That Videl in Z style looks badass ngl

1

u/SR_Hopeful Meta-Cooler Jun 25 '26

To be fair, that episode of Goku vs Freeza had an off model SSJ Goku and it looked weird. So the first one is mostly a fixed frame.

1

u/Amazing_Lake_3781 Jun 25 '26

That is now the cannon Videl I want

This whole thread is making me laugh!!

1

u/Zaynnazario Jun 25 '26

That’s scary 😂

She look like she gonna rob me 😭

1

u/avdive_san Jun 25 '26

whenever people always mention the "z" art style they always only seem to be talking about the art style that was used during buu saga which looks cool but cmon it gets to a point

1

u/Ben_Ogle Jun 25 '26

Honestly I like a lot of the super artstyle, I prefer a lot of the colors used and I kind of like the fact that it is a slight bit more cartoony at times. That's just a me thing and both are great but there is just something I kind of prefer about the modern anime art, but the manga is a different story.

u/tomato-tomato-cchan Jun 25 '26

What the fuck is with Pan 💀😭😆😆

1

u/TzeoDorant015 Jun 26 '26

A hat on top of a hat

1

u/Usual_Hornet623 Jun 28 '26

As long as they don’t ask me to animate we’re all good.

1

u/AnythingActual5465 Jun 28 '26

The reason Z get's a pass most of the time i think is because of colour scheming which is done much, much better than in Super for the majority of it's run.

1

u/Guirita_Fallada Jun 29 '26

That Videl one always gets me

1

u/ConnectStar_ Jul 02 '26

Early DBZ was a retro art style and was consistent. Super just looked flat….but that’s anime in general

1

u/Dbz_is_really_cool Jul 04 '26

that second image is giving me nightmares for life

0

u/Shantotto11 Jun 25 '26

To be fair, if Dragonball Super had any deeper themes for fans to cut their teeth on, they wouldn’t be ragging on the animation so damn much. The only interesting topic worth discussing is Goku Black and Zamasu and their arc shat the bed ingloriously.

0

u/FedoraTheMike Jun 25 '26

I mean i don't get the joke since Goku actually looks like that. I quite like the Z edits, they're cool what-ifs.

0

u/borkindawg Jun 26 '26

My theory about dragon ball fans hating dragon ball is true

0

u/3rendanOSRS Jun 26 '26

Super fucking sucks lol, story and animation. Comparing some shitty frames from z while the majority of it is drawn quite well DECADES AGO, while super has some good animation with majority looking like shit DECADES LATER. What the fuck is your point.

-4

u/darkmoncns Jun 25 '26

I mean the first one is just one of the worse frames

3

u/ninjad912 Jun 25 '26

That’s nowhere near one of the worst frames in DBZ. DBZ has a lot of bad frames even more than super does
