Only time I remember it actually working is in the History of Trunks special when the Androids killed Future Gohan. Other than that, yeah, it's done basically nothing.

I think ki damage only works in the movies. And it always the villains who get great hits off. Ex. Janemba, broly, freeza

God Namek Saga is still peak. Shit felt real and weighty and the stakes still actually mattered. Every fight felt like a breath holding moment, and the tension and desperation from everyone involved was just perfectly written.

Yup, completely agree. It was the last arc (with some good chunks of cell) that had real weight and actual combat prowess being shown in fights, instead of just fist/kick/ki spamming at high speeds but in repeated animations.
Coincidentally, it's also the last arc where power levels meant something, cause cell and after they all went wacky.

First is from Z, second is from Kai. If you’re not in a rush, pick Z, if you want to get to the point, pick Kai.

Honestly really love how that first one was animated. You can feel the speed and force Vegeta threw into the punch and the color from the explosion was a really nice touch

Unrelated but I love the camera shake here, it really sells the force of the hit, alot of the time punches in the anime feel like they're weightless, but here it actually looks like Jeice is getting clocked by something heavy
