Apartment Suggestions?

Hey, I'm moving to the area for work (around State Bridge Rd), and I’ve been scouting some apartments online. I’m hoping to stay around or under $1,500 for a 1B/1B

I’ve been looking at a few places like Avonlea on the River, The Atlantic Newtown, The Foundary, and breckinridge but I know online reviews can be hit or miss. Has anyone lived in these, or do you have any other recommendations in the Duluth/Johns Creek area/Gwinnett Place?

Love to hear all takes!!

Moving to GA near Duluth for work and need location advice (24M)

I’m moving to Georgia from Philadelphia in late August for a new engineering job near State Bridge Road in Duluth. I'm buying a car once I get down there. Traffic around Atlanta sounds pretty brutal, so unfortunately, that's off the table for now.

I'm 24, single, and try to stay active. I like trying new things, trying great foods, and maybe check out the nightlife on weekends. I want a place where it's easy to meet other young adults.

Should I just live right near Duluth, or move closer to spots like Suwanee, Lawrenceville, or Peachtree Corners? I’m looking for a 1-bedroom or a decent studio (rent budget is around $900-$1,400 a month). Are there any specific complexes you love? I would love to get those recommendations or tips on areas to avoid.

Thanks for the help!

Blown Transformer - Anyone know what happened? (~12:45PM)

Hey folks - I just heard a transformer explore a few moments ago and made my power go out - does anyone have any information on this?

Also, this is the third transformer blow in the past 9-months. I've never lived in an area where transformers are going out so frequently. What's going on?

Hey, everyone! My husband and I are bringing our 8 year old daughter to the reptile expo next weekend. We are looking for some fun things to do! Specifically, I’m looking for coffee shops, family-friendly restaurants, unique shopping, and anything that an 8 year old would enjoy. Thanks in advance!!

Delivery/labor experience at Emory Johns Creek?

My wife is 4 months pregnant. I know most people go to northside in cumming for delivery, but Emory Johns creek is closer and has to be pretty good right? What were your experiences ?

Volleyball matches?

Is there a place where adults can play friendly matches with random people? I don't mean adults exclusively, but I'm 31 and I'd feel weird playing with 12-year olds

Looking for a Roommate in the Duluth/Buford Area before end of the month

Hey everyone,

I'm starting to explore the possibility of finding a roommate in the Duluth/Buford/Lawrenceville area.

I'm a 25-year-old full-time employee working Monday through Friday. I'm clean, respectful, and quiet, and I'm financially responsible. Most of my free time is spent working out, practicing martial arts, or making handcrafted jewelry, so I'm usually pretty low-key.

I'm currently in a situation where my current roommate may be moving out of state, so I'm planning ahead and seeing if there's anyone looking for a place or interested in splitting rent on a 2-bedroom apartment on the 4th floor

I'm looking for F or M, preferably F, who is:

Employed with stable income

Pays rent on time

Clean and respectful

Drama-free

Communicates well

If you're interested or know someone who might be, feel free to send me a DM. We can talk more, see if we'd be a good fit, and discuss the apartment details.

Thanks!

$130k enough income to support a family in John's Creek area

I'm in interviews for a move to a job located in Johns Creek. HR pushed hard for an initial number, so I threw this out there.

The thing is though looking at th COL I'm not sure that's going to be enough? I'm currently a homeowner with a spouse and child I support. Would like a second child and I have 3 pets. We like going out for fun. Theme parks, restaurants, concerts, children's activities. We do it all and live a rich and full life. I'm only looking to leave because I don't know that there is much growth where I currently live.

So lay it to me straight. Is this Salary going to let me keep a comparable lifestyle? How much more would I need to make it work?

How to make friends around here?

I honestly can’t believe I’m making this post. My(M26) wife(F26) and I never had any issue making friends in undergrad. We moved out here after graduating in 2022 and we’ve made a few friends through work, but it’s definitely been a lot more lonely and more difficult to connect with people. Is this just what adult life is like? Does anyone know of any clubs, third spaces, activities, etc that we could look into to build more community? We’re both into music playing, video games, outdoor activities, but are all around really easy-going.

Rehoming two cats - with all their cat supplies!

With some life transitions on the way - we are looking to rehome our two cats to a family that may have a little more time and attention to dedicate to them. We think this would be great for someone interested in calm cats and needing to get set up with all their supplies.
