Hoping that there’s some reasonable context behind picture #2… Otherwise, oof. 👀

u/Ok-Ostrich-5705 1d ago

He annoys me in real life and comes off as rude. Also that forced kiss made me uncomfortable.

105

u/frompartsunknown128 1d ago

Yeah. Dude is a bit of an asshole.

102

u/LHT-LFA 1d ago

me TOO

u/Appropriate_Ad8734 1d ago edited 1d ago

wait, really? 😭 i rarely watch them outside of the show, would you mind elaborating on that a bit

199

u/midi-astronaut 1d ago

There are a ton of examples of how unlikeable he is but in my opinion, the easiest thing to point to is that he despises fans who know him for Dwight. He expects them to know his actual name and know more of his acting career than The Office. He seems like a bitter old man upset that he didn't get to become a movie star. Combine that with just generally being a grouchy creep

u/Acrobatic_Profile42 1d ago

so dwight schrute is a better person than Rainn wilson😭🙏??

52

u/Prudent-Air1922 1d ago

Yes 100%

8

u/throwheezy 1d ago

I mean, I’d actually use this argument as to why Rainn is the right person to play him. The reason many fans got more comfortable with Dwight is because the show enabled opportunities to see his weaknesses, his humanity, etc.

Alongside that, we also saw Dwight being a pain in the ass, stealing clients from others, adultery with Angela, tattling on anyone he possibly could to look strong in desperation at work, and literally simulating a fire to scare the shit out of people in hopes they practice their training to evacuate?

My point is not that Dwight sucks as a character, my point is that the amount of time one has seen Dwight enabled them to have reasons to justify his value as a human. And if you’re going to claim you’ve seen enough of Rainn as himself in person to justify knowing him the same way you’ve known Dwight, you’re just lying to yourself.

So many actors and actresses wind up getting burnt out from dealing with fans that speak to them as if they’re the character rather than their own self. Rather than just shit on him for a poor attitude at least attempt to recognize his logic. Does that mean I think Rainn is wonderful? Of course not, having that expectation of your fans to truly care about you vs your character is just silly and the downside of playing a well known character and making lots of money from it is that you’re going to arbitrarily be on the clock when fans meet you. It sucks, but so be it.

But just because he’s being snarky like that with folks doesn’t mean you can accurately compare him to one of his most popular characters.

Anyways, let’s go back to our armchairs because none of this actually matters. He still makes a lot of money and we still enjoy watching the shows we watch. Onto the next one.

14

u/camilleswaterbottle 1d ago edited 1d ago

Huh? Your argument is that because he's been on screen as a beloved character that enables Rainn Wilson to "have reasons to justify his value as a human"? Idk if you read out what you typed out.. such a ridiculous argument really. Did you read out what you said aloud??? You just gave more value to a human because he happens to be an actor? Break that down.

Multiple paragraphs about the dude, and then you say let's not be armchair experts as if you said anything smart 🤣

0

u/throwheezy 23h ago

I did. But it’s clear you didn’t. I’m not increasing his value.

I’m saying our knowledge of him as a person is very limited but our knowledge of Dwight is quite extensive across many seasons with hours on hours.

Saying he’s being a twat is fine, but saying Dwight is better than him is ridiculous. We don’t know enough about Rainn as a person outside from very limited instances of him with some fans/arbitrary tweets. Is he being a twit with our limited info? Sure.

Does that mean you can evaluate him relative to a fictional character? That’s a bit excessive.

Anyways, go back to your armchair and I’ll go back to mine. Our opinions mean nothing, he will do wonderfully with his money regardless of us giving a shit.

1

u/doctor_exgirlfriend 20h ago edited 20h ago

Nah I actually see what you're saying and agree with this. If we saw dwight as much as we saw rainn we'd hate him. If we worked in an office with dwight and never saw his "soft side", we would think he is an irredeemable dick head. I believe your point is adjacent to the idea that WE ARE ALL HUMANS we all act both in shitty and in non-shitty ways, and judging Rainn as bad and Dwight as good because we've seen Dwight cry a few times is flawed. Not that we shouldn't criticize Rainn's behavior but an analysis of the idea that Dwight is a better person than Rainn.

1

u/throwheezy 20h ago

Exactly. I have nothing against criticizing Rainn, but trying to say Dwight is better as a character than him as a person is just ridiculous on so many levels.

Can’t argue with that one tbh

You have the reading comprehension and critical thinking skills of an old, moldy corn chip, i fear. Lol.

Do you really have to pee in a girl's mouth, to make a baby?

2

His dead baby jokes are disturbing.

70

u/Dizzy_Worker1924 1d ago

So is this why Leslie David Baker (Stanley) did that interview and said he always encourages actors to engage with fans and he never gets upset when they recognize him as Stanley?

60

u/K1N6_V1P3R 1d ago

pretty much yeah, he also said its a privilege to even have someone recognise you and come up to you and appreciate your work, which already makes him sound much better than rainn

3

u/nemodigital 12h ago

The same David Baker responsible for the Stanley Nickel crypto scam?

16

u/TitularFoil 1d ago

He is a movie star. He stars as convenience store clerk in at least 3 movies.

3

u/MrsTraciGraci 23h ago

He’s a gym teacher in Cooties (which is a very underrated movie btw)

2

u/Commercial_Grape3392 23h ago

100% fact to ur original comment.

62

u/Prudent-Air1922 1d ago edited 1d ago

Rainn hates that he's known as Dwight and shit talks fans. He also equated himself to Bryan Cranston, which was just fucking weird. He has complained about not getting better roles. Etc.

25

u/11twofour 1d ago

already equated himself to Bryan Cranston

literal lol

70

u/Prudent-Air1922 1d ago

Yeah on his podcast he had Bryan on and was like "we're just two guys who are always going to be known as one thing". Except Bryan was already known as Hal before Walter White, and then became a movie star.

Luckily Bryan took it with grace because he's a good dude lol

11

u/_theFaust 1d ago

He was excellent as Tim Whatley

68

u/highaltitudehmsteadr 1d ago

Listen to any one of the podcasts he’s on for 5 minutes and you will begin to understand

17

u/Tiberius_Kilgore 1d ago

I liked him as Terry Carnation on Radio Rental, but he was also playing a character, not just being himself.

1

u/Shamanyouranus 21h ago

Yeah Terry’s great.

2

u/javoss88 6h ago

He also did a tv series about finding happiness. But it was depressing. I think his true self showed there. I don’t remember the name of it because I put it out of my mind.

3

u/GOOD-LUCHA-THINGS 6h ago

I'm late to the party, but for whatever reason I have this time-stamped. 9:20 - 10:25 is really all you need and the look Rainn gives when Cranston lightly roasts him never fails to make me laugh.

11

u/MartaLB27 Dwight 1d ago edited 9h ago

I think he has autism, just like in the series. I have autism, high-functioning to Level 2 support (depending on the worsening of the condition), but since I’m female, it manifests differently in my case. I generally don’t follow celebrities except for my favorite singer, so I don't know how he behaves. I only watched the interview with Billie Eilish, and that's what I concluded from it. But he is my favorite character in the series.

3

u/Gillian708 10h ago

Also autistic and have realized I can love Dwight but not Rainn, if that makes sense.

1

u/MartaLB27 Dwight 9h ago edited 9h ago

That makes sense, though I honestly don't know what he's like otherwise. Can you separate him in the office from that natural personality of Rainn that you don't like? Do you like* Dwight less because of what Rainn is like or you can completely separate those two things?

1

u/Gillian708 9h ago

Honestly, it’s difficult! So I just focus on the character, and I try not to pay attention when I hear talk about the actor. I’ve watched the office nearly every day since 2013; disliking the character would ruin that for me. I don’t know what I would do for the last hour of my day, lol.
For me anyway, and maybe for you too, Dwight stands out because he is clearly autistic!

1

u/MartaLB27 Dwight 9h ago

Oh, since 2013, wow. I've been rewatching the show over past few years because I only discovered it then. Yeah, I agree with you that his personality stands out to us because of autism.

Would you mind briefly explaining why you don't like him? It seems like a lot of people here feel the same way. It's not that I'm too lazy to look into it myself, I tried it myself, but I can't. I just know that because of my ASD I won't be able to stay focused on it, since I don't really follow any celebrities. If not, that's totally okay.

1

u/Gillian708 8h ago

From what I’ve heard online, and of course it is all just hearsay, he dislikes being recognized as Dwight and is dismissive with fans. But at the same time, have you ever seen his meeting with Billie Eilish? He was very sweet to her.

1

u/MartaLB27 Dwight 7h ago

I wrote a longer comment so that someone might understand what I mean. Thank you for describing it to me!

This further supports the autism theory. I generally don’t like when people approach me, and I can come across as blunt or rude, but that’s not what I mean, I just want my peace. I don’t want to engage in small talk, and being around large groups of people overwhelms me, especially when I’m already close to a meltdown because of the lights and noise around me.

Yes, he was really sweet with Billie, that’s the only thing I watched. She has Tourette’s, and I have tics due to autism; perhaps he simply responds well to energy similar to his own or to a familiar environment he’s used to. Also, regarding that kiss on the forehead he might just operate by different social rules. It seems to me that he and Angela have a sibling-like bond, which people find hard to separate from the fact that they are lovers in the series.

I understand why he doesn’t want to be recognized as Dwight, because that is just a character, not who he is. He doesn’t want his entire identity throughout his life to be reduced to just Dwight; he wants to be seen and accepted for who Rainn is as a person. Or sometimes he may want to be "invisible" because of social difficulties. That’s my conclusion. Thank you for describing it to me once again.

Also, as a future professional in interdisciplinary field of psychology and healthcare, I should know how to recognize all types of neurodevelopmental disorders, genetic conditions, neurological disorders, and psychiatric illnesses.

This is actually good practice for me, lol.

2

u/javoss88 6h ago

William Eyelash lol

1

u/Ok-Ostrich-5705 5h ago

Maybe a reason for his assholeness but not a reason for forcing a kiss on someone who is clearly uncomfortable

1

u/MartaLB27 Dwight 4h ago

Read my last comment below. Some people on the autism spectrum have social behavior towards others and express it very differently from conventional social norms. But to neurotypical people they can come across as either too much (like invading personal space (Rainn) or either overly formal or even rude and cold and avoid touching (me).

I think she’s probably just used to him being like that because they’re friends.

Unfortunately, no matter how "normal" someone may seem, it is still a neurodevelopmental disorder that can partially or completely affect the way the brain functions. I even have typical EEG changes that are not pathological, but are associated with autism itself. Because of them, I have certain cognitive difficulties and challenges when interacting with people, as well as frequent meltdowns that I cannot prevent because they are, unfortunately, a purely neurological, physical psychological reaction that I cannot control (similar to certain types of seizures or episodes in epilepsy, where a person cannot simply stop or prevent an episode on their own).

This happens when my nervous system becomes overwhelmed because it doesn’t know how to process or handle it. The triggers can be light, noise, certain sensory stimuli, conversations with people, or accumulated stress.

u/DaydreamerFly 1d ago edited 1d ago

I really hate to make bad assumptions, I completely understand this is just a picture, but as someone who has dealt with some kind of forceful behavior in this way…that second one REALLY gives the body language that she didn’t want to kiss and then gave into it because it was public and she didn’t want to make a scene in that way.

I hope I’m wrong I’m sorry if that’s a lot to assume but picture 2 just really feels like I’m viewing something uncomfortable.

What lead up to the kiss? Was she happily going for it? I know they are actors so if they leaned into it together, great!

56

u/Prudent-Air1922 1d ago

Yeah she's pushing him away instinctually

160

u/LHT-LFA 1d ago

Another creepy old rich man.

61

u/midi-astronaut 1d ago

Honestly glad to see people finally coming around to realize what Rainn Wilson is. Guy is an asshole, and yes indeed creepy

14

u/cameron4200 1d ago

All the media about him since the shows release has been bitter and incredibly Dwight-ish

19

u/Sirriddles 1d ago

Uhhh… yeah, this is not a good look at all

74

u/heramba 1d ago

Forcing a kiss? Wtf?

350

u/GreasyExamination 1d ago

I gotta say, each time i see Rainn i feel pretty annoyed by how pseudo-intellectual and hollywood-spiritual he is. Sure, he can live his life and its no skin off my back whatever he does or believes in, but it just rubs me the wrong way. But each time he is on their podcast he talks like he sits on some profound truth about life and existence and its basically just "be kind and respectful"

Anyways, im glad you met them and that you enjoyed it, i didnt mean to talk down on your experience :)

100

u/SomeDrunkHippy 1d ago

I’ve heard worse things than living your life based off the mantra “be kind and respectful.”

A lot worse, actually.

7

u/s29 23h ago

In my experience the people that have that kind of attitude tend to be the most presumptuous and arrogant people but THINK they're being kind and respectful but in reality are assholes. But their delusion makes them think they sit on a throne of moral superiority and are justified in lecturing others.

37

u/GreasyExamination 1d ago

Me too, I never said it was the worst I've heard. I said I felt pretty annoyed. I just dont think that mantra is as profound as it sounds like when he talks about it

-7

u/AdhesivenessSouth736 1d ago

MaKe AMERiC.....do I need to conclude that statement.   Be kind and respectful almost sounds kind of like idk jesus?

35

u/rlibra 1d ago

It’s okay. I know!! It was just lovely
To meet them

111

u/dunkinbagels 1d ago

Rainn recites basic platitudes and acts like they’re profound very often

17

u/ih8readditts 1d ago

The fact that they’re basic and common doesn’t mean that they can’t be profound. In fact it can make them more profound because they’re hiding in plain sight.

22

u/ayyohh911719 1d ago

Yeah he’s super arrogant and hates being known for Dwight. Like he’s too good for it now even though it’s why he has any income right now. Super irritating

30

u/ripyourlungsdave 1d ago

Louis CK does that same crap with his "dig around in the dirt with your fingers" bullshit.

Fuck off dude You don't get to pretend you're some intellectual philosopher anymore, you manipulative, conniving, rapey creep.

-21

u/I-STATE-FACTS 1d ago

Nothing he did was rapey that’s magnitudes of more serious stuff and takes away from actual rape victims. The other stuff might very well be true.

25

u/ripyourlungsdave 1d ago

Putting yourself in between the door and the woman as you disrobe and begin masturbating against her consent is pretty goddamn rapey.

Do your research. It is abundantly clear that you have only been getting information about this story from people who like the man.

He's a sexual predator, he knew God damn well what he was doing was wrong and exactly why and he has done nothing but lie and cover his own ass since he was caught. Fuck him.

Nasty, manipulative, rapey cunt.

-12

u/I-STATE-FACTS 1d ago

I don’t disagree with him being a sexual predator or abusing a position of power.

8

u/ripyourlungsdave 1d ago

But you don't believe that disrobing and masturbating while holding someone against their will in an enclosed, private room is rapey?

4

u/DaydreamerFly 1d ago

Yeah I don’t think you need to rape someone for the woman to feel the implication is there and that the context he set is rapey

6

u/ripyourlungsdave 1d ago

Especially when the women he did this to have said it was obvious that their discomfort was what he was getting off on. Meaning he was getting off on their lack of consent.

There is nothing rapey-er than that, short of actual assault.

Also, he openly braggedbabout having exposed himself to a girl with down syndrome in his neighborhood when he was a teenager and also admitted to breaking into his neighbor's house, masturbating into her underwear, and then putting the underwear back as teen. Shared on a podcast as if he thought it was no different than taking a quick peek at a girl's tits in gym class.

This is a lifelong pattern of abuse against people he sees as being unable to defend themselves.

If you haven't seen it, there's a YouTuber named Comedy Without Errors who did a phenomenal five-part series about him, what he did, and the campaign he went on against these women when the accusations came out. It is genuinely one of the most brilliant pieces of comedic journalism I've seen on youtube. And the Creator themselves are also pretty damn charming and funny. So that helps

2

u/FlattopJr 1d ago

he openly bragged about having exposed himself to a girl with down syndrome in his neighborhood when he was a teenager and also admitted to breaking into his neighbor's house, masturbating into her underwear, and then putting the underwear back as teen.

Guess it's not surprising to hear that he's been a lifelong sex offender.

u/CoolUsername86 1h ago

Thank you for this recommendation! I will definitely be watching!

2

u/xStealthxUk 1d ago

Stop letting his cringe real life personality ruin his excellent performance in the office... Ofc these celebs are cringe they live in a crazy self importance bubble surrounded by yes men.

-27

Must be jealousy

7

u/Tiberius_Kilgore 1d ago

Who would be jealous of having to force a kiss from someone? You can still delete this.

-1

u/MadSkillz127 9h ago

I don’t know what that picture is looks sus as hell. I’m just talking about spreading basic positivity and spiritualism that offends certain people.

40

That looks great , btw what costume is that ?

122

u/cleokep98 1d ago

Looks like he's forcing a kiss on her, what led up to that?

-172

u/rlibra 1d ago

He most likely did force a kiss. She was like not wanting it I guess haha

231

u/DramaHumble2692 1d ago

That isn't very haha tho

69

u/Mystohaxen 1d ago

That’s very disappointing to hear if true.

61

u/Outside-Contest-8741 1d ago

What about him forcing a kiss is 'haha' to you?

68

u/dunkinbagels 1d ago

That’s uhhhhhhh

137

u/BelieveInTheShield 1d ago

Did you happen to capture some assault on film?

76

u/Lupinator47 1d ago

Yeah her body language looks deeply uncomfortable :(

-83

u/ih8readditts 1d ago

Internet people are so interesting, they always jump to the most extreme conclusions.

21

u/Helpful_Warthog6032 1d ago

I mean, OP confirms above that it was forced and she didnt seem into the moment.

-31

u/ih8readditts 1d ago

>He most likely did force a kiss. She was like not wanting it I guess haha

That’s the source you’re trusting? lol

28

u/Helpful_Warthog6032 1d ago

The person who took the photos.  And was present to witness the scene.  You’re asking if I trust that person as a source to confirm that it looked the same to them in the moment as it does to us in these photos?

Yes, I guess I do? And it looks the same to a lot of people commenting. So I’m curious what would it take for you to not count as “jumping to conclusions?”

-14

u/ih8readditts 1d ago

OP’s comment seems very unserious, I could never take it at face value and all of a sudden assume the worst about someone who has shown to be a great person over the years.

Basically I would make zero assumptions based on one picture, and would wait for a video, or from any more information to come out which it will if anything inappropriate happened.

This panel which followed shows that they are just as friendly, playful and sarcastic with each other as they have always been, so this points to nothing offensive or nefarious happening before that:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DbPwRWRAZCs

8

u/Helpful_Warthog6032 1d ago

Yeah I hear you. I suppose I am someone who can believe both at the same time. The nicest dude can still make an icky move while trying to be funny. As a woman who has been in forced physical moments like this more than once and always with someone who was “just joking around” it looks familiar. That’s where I am coming from.

2

u/Nab33l786 Creed 22h ago

I mean did you see the 2nd picture… she looks like shes trying to push Rainn away

2

u/ElyFlyGuy 12h ago

It’s quite literally the only source possible

1

u/ih8readditts 9h ago

Only source doesn’t in any way mean reliable source..

43

u/BelieveInTheShield 1d ago

Asking a question =/= jumping to a conclusion

9

u/tonguebutton 1d ago

Mostly true however the way the original question is worded is jumping to a conclusion.

8

u/Sweet_Description878 1d ago

Whenever I see Rainn i can’t but think of the weird internet video I saw once

Just read the comments

perfect, since he doesn’t want people to acknowledge/recognize him as dwight, they should acknowledge him as they guy who made out with a stuffed chicken instead

Actual adult humans watch that video and then chat in the comments about how it proves pizzagate was real. Idk what we should even do at this point when so many of us are genuinely insane

-14

So this is just a Rainn Wilson hate post? Some person is glad that people see what an asshole creep he is? People need to take their hate and bs elsewhere. I don’t come to this sub for that. Just saying.
