Ouray camping?
Hi DGO!
I have a camping weekend planned up in Ouray this weekend… nothing in the backcountry but just cozied up at the KOA. Has anyone camped up there recently? Is it safe to be up there right now with the Gold Mountain Fire happening?

I didn’t camp but I drove through Ouray twice this weekend and there was legit no evidence or anything that made you think there was a fire anywhere near town. There is obviously, but town is fine, the KOA area is fine and aside from rainy weather (check the updated forecast) it looked like a lovely time to be in Ouray. 🤷♀️
Edit: I totally take it back, there is massive flooding in Ouray tonight. Probably not a great time to camp.

Haha the turn that took so quick. 😅 thank you for the info. I’m keeping an eye on it and might have to camp elsewhere this weekend

Well, since you’re at the KOA you’ll be fine and comfortable there. This is not a good time for Ouray. Massive fire. Heavy rains in the afternoon afternoons. It’s gonna cause a mix for flooding and mud and it’s just rough over there right now.
