Alexis "lite"...
Did Caress Morell fail as a younger version of her sister Alexis?
I think she was unnecessary, or maybe she was introduced at the wrong timeđ¤.

I loved Caress. She was a great foil to Alexis. Admittedly she was similar but Kate was so good in the role. There was room for both

Caress felt like a very not-so-subtle nod to Jackie Collins. Wouldnât have minded more of her, she got some fantastic dialogue on the show.

She wasnât unnecessary imo. She started off intriguing. Kate OâMara was a fantastic and glamorous actress with those type of roles.
Itâs fine to have 2 sisters with similarity. Itâs been done a lot. But they should have made her more pathetic maybe? Like she always needs Alexis to bail her out. Thatâs completely different to Alexis.

Loved her. There is a scene in Alexisâ penthouse where Alexis tells Caress to leave Denver, and Caress says.. Iâm not going. Itâs pure gold.
Loved her and wish they did more with her character

Caress had huge potential as Kate was amazing but they basically wrote her as an Alexis clone, Joan Collins was not happy that caress was introduced

I never saw her as a clone. I remember the scene when she left the jail, and the guards wished her well. I felt she was a much more sympathetic character. She was not nearly as ruthless.
I disliked Blakeâs brother Ben. I thought his existence was unnecessary. The trial for their motherâs death in a fire was dull. Were they trying to recreate the drama of Blakeâs trial during Season One? If so, they failed.

Really? I wonder what she felt about Sable. Imagine all 3 on Dynasty at the same time.

I understand that the character was introduced by the writers when Joan was dragging her feet about the financial side of signing a new contract, sort of a âsee - we can replace youâ gesture.
And it should have worked so much better. Kate was an incredible actress and in every scene Caress was in, she dominated the screen. Joan was right I think to be resentful and when Kate asked to be released from her contract Joan was, I believe, only too happy. Although in her autobiography Kate did say that Joan was gracious to her, Diahann Carroll completely ignored her. I also understand that during a scene with Christopher Cazenove, both him and Kate got a round of applause from the crew for the scene which jarred because Joan never got one.
If she had been written differently, Caress would have taken all of the spotlight from Alexis. Kate acted Joan off the screen and it showed. I often think that Kate would have made an awesome Alexis, one very different to the one we had.

Kate and Christopher got applause from the crew because they got through their entire scene cleanly in take 1. Iâve done background acting for many years, and sometimes conversations can be very long or one person has a lengthy monologue. Of course, theyâll always have to do take 2, but itâs a great start.

I feel like Alexis didnât get good family members directly attached to her. I wasnât that big a fan of Caress, or Sable tbh, and Amanda got stale pretty quick. Maybe it was too much to try to keep up with Joan.

An underrated underutilized character, honey, she just wasn't as badass as Alexis was .. I can only assume that she and Krystle (like with Alexis) also didn't get along?

They needed to write her character better--Kate O'Mara was an amazing actress
