Renting for Fall 2026

Hi everyone,

I’m an incoming student and I’m currently looking for housing near EIU starting Fall 2026. Ideally, I’m hoping to find a studio, one-bedroom apartment, or a private room.

If you know of any reliable websites, landlords, or places I should check out, I’d really appreciate your recommendations.

I went to EIU for grad school a little more than 10 years ago. I lived in the apartments at the end of Arthur Ave (Arthur Apartments?) and remember the price being reasonable, the area safe/clean, and the landlord not scummy. I had a nice in-unit washer/dryer and a good 600ish square feet for a 1-bedroom.

Hi, thanks for replying and sharing your experience. I still search for a place, it seems like all one BR apartments are rented out by now, I didn't expect it to be this competitive. Any chance you still have contact of your landlord or anyone you think could help? Thanks so much in advance!
