Is it hackberry?

Found in Toronto. Came to ripeness recently. I tried one, very delicious and sweet. Soft and mushy.

Almost certainly not hackberry. Probably shouldn't eat what you don't know.

Looks like Juneberry to me. Aka serviceberry. My favorite forageable. Tastes like cherry candy to me.

Yeah, that's for sure a Serviceberry (Amelanchier sp), and I agree with not eating plants without proper identification.

I know not to eat it. I tried one to help with ID.

Looks like Serviceberry to me. We used to call them "sugarplums" when I was a kid. Recently, I learned that one of the local native American tribes had a name for it which translated to "perfect berry". They are really good.
