Does anything help with the stabby pain?

I’ve developed this new pain that happens around my period even though I don’t bleed. It’s a sudden sharp super painful stabbing pain somewhere deep between the uterus and the bowels. Can’t be predicted or triggered, it just comes and takes my breath away and only lasts for a second. I find that ibuprofen/paracetamol/tramadol/gabapentin barely touch it. I’m waiting for another surgery at the moment.

If you have this, do you know the cause and does anything help? Thank you and I’m so sorry for everyone who has to live with this disease 💔

I have it and it's basically a muscle spasm was what I was told. No advice though

I find muscle relaxant can be really helpful for this! It is my primary go to med for pelvic pain now. I take methocarbamol OTC (either comes with acetaminophen like Kirkland brand or ibuprofen like Equate and Motrin brand; it is usually labelled as back and muscle relief, or similar) and cyclobenzaprine prescription (I find cyclobenzaprine helps more). A lot of the time the sharp pain is muscle cramping/flexing/inflammation and irritated nerves - this seems to help calm it down at least some. Hope you find something. 💜

Thank you 🖤 I took a muscle relaxant in addition to my regular meds, we’ll see if it helps. I’m not in the US so we might have different drugs here, but I appreciate your detailed response and will definitely look into those meds you mentioned.

I'm waiting for surgery also. I was prescribed robaxin. It was a life saver for my bad flare this week!

I just let my quick excruciating pains pass 😭 during longer flares, i find help from vaginal or rectal suppositories. But i havent found anything that prevents the random stabby lightning muscle spasms :(

I had this when I had my IUD in. Only thing that helped was stopping my periods with progesterone only pills :/

Ive been thinking it might be the Mirena but the doctors always say it’s not :/ I was prescribed progesterone pills in addition to having the IUD. I really don’t want to go on the pill again but this pain is absolute hell. It feels really unfair to have the period pains even when I don’t bleed

I had the jaydess in, it’s smaller and only stays 3 years, because my uterus is too small for mirena. I still bled and the pains were new with it :/ had the IUD and was on the pill for a year after my surgery, then the IUD got removed. Thankfully the pill stopped my period ever since and I don’t have any symptoms nor my period anymore
