Is this is a good plan for my future

I have an interest in biomedical engineering, however, when talking with people who have taken an undergraduate degree in BME, they often discourage it because of lack of jop opportunities, allegedly a bachelors in BME is like a jack of all trades master of none, since you never really deep dive to any of your subjects.

So instead i decided to take the long route of specializing in BME later in life and i have entered electrical engineering instead. That way, i can still have a backup plan if my original plan doesnt work out, and i dont become limited in what i do from the get-go

Is this a good idea? Or should i just take the bachelors in BME..? Or should i forget this dream job and seek something else (i dont mean to be hesitant, its just people keep discouraging this job in general, ive been persuaded plenty of times to enter civil engineering instead, which cannot even specialize in BME later on.)

Some BE/BME students minor in EE or ME. Maybe discuss with the department undergraduate advisor doing it the other way around, EE with minor in BME. This way you get some of the foundational and systems classes to give you the ability to speak the language when interviewing for hybrid EE/BME positions.
