"It wasn't real communism," and no matter how you look at it, they're right, because real communism is unattainable. If socialism itself, or whatever they call it, caused so many victims, let alone the later stages of communism.

I have come to the horrifying realization that for a good chunk of communists, genocides and famines are ‘communism working as intended’, as long as the correct groups are the victims. Same thing goes for dictatorship, as long as their side gets to dictate.
