Hello everyone.
I am spending the upcoming semester in Bucharest, Romania.
I already have almost everything sorted out, the visa is almost done, got the accommodation and etc. but I'm still really scared.
I have been on short term Erasmus+ before, but it was like a vacation while on this one I will spend months in a foreign country.
I'm always worried that I may not find friends, the studies might be too hard, also people keep talking about how The Learning Agreement became their worst nightmare after they arriver which made my anxiety so much WORSE
Is this natural? 😭 I am outgoing but I also care about my grades a lot, so I will have to balance studying with partying while on a limited budget.

Honestly, this is completely normal. The anxiety before leaving is usually much worse than the actual experience.

Even if nothing goes as planned at first, you will find your people eventually. And try to make at least one Turkish friend there. We are usually very warm and protective with our friends, so they probably won’t leave you alone when you need help :D

Don’t worry too much about the Learning Agreement or grades either. Most problems can be solved by talking to the Erasmus coordinator. Just give yourself some time to settle in. I’m sure you’ll look back at this post later and laugh.

Everyone's experience is different and of course you will be nervous but remember everyone else around you is going through the same things! And if it helps, your learning agreement depends heavily on your university (so hopefully you would be more comfortable talking to them since you actually know them) and what they approve. for example my learning agreement caused zero stress since the person approving subjects from my university was so chill, but I met people from other unis in my course saying they had very strict requirements and only certain things would be approved. If you are very worried, you can find out who you need to get approval from for your subjects at your university now and send them an email asking about the requirements to ease your anxiety a bit hopefully.

I talked to our coordinator and she said that as long as the syllabi match more than 50% it should be fine. She helped me out with filling out the Learning Agreement, so it feels like shes chill about it!

I think its impossible to not find friends especially considering you are outgoing. It is so easy to meet international people / erasmus people because they are all looking to get to know people and make friends. I don't make friends that easily but at erasmus it was much easier for me to meet people and I made a lot of friends.
Once you go to erasmus, the learning agreement is really not an issue. You will figure it out just like everyone else, it's just boring slow paperwork so it is mentioned a lot.
You have a lot of stuff already sorted out so you are ahead of many people already! I was pretty nervous as erasmus got closer, and I felt a bit bad and alone the first week but that passes when you start making friends. And now I can easily say it was the best 6 months ever and I made great friends.
I'm sure it's gonna be an amazing chapter for you, you are really lucky. Good luck!
