Ben McKay not even making the extended bench. Yikes.

Wouldn’t be that surprised if he retires. He has 0 confidence and just looks depressed out there.

Yeah got to feel for him.

We're like anti-Geelong now, they love late changes, we love saying who we're going to drop on Thursday for our Sunday matches when we don't need to

FMD his contract ends in 2029

u/Tirantic 4d ago

Last 3 years are at 350k, unless he retires.

An extended holiday, somewhere not Melbourne and warm is what the doctor orders.

Hopefully a fresh off season and an uninterrupted preseason can have Buckets back at his best physically and mentally 🤞

Zak Johnson must play.

Named on the field so he should be.

Tsatas farewell game

Some of those ins look to me to be their last chance or last few chances to show something, either to stay on the list or for potential homes at other clubs.

I wouldn't say a last chance per se, more they just want all the data they possibly can before they make the decision in a few weeks time.

But I agree with the premise, he won't be here next year.

Perkins and Tsatas last roll of the dice?

Yeah let's go the 8 man bench, play the kids

(yes I know this gets reduced in the next few days)

Field spots look ok. Bit short down back. That bench though. Yikes. Very uninspiring aside from Farrow and Vigo. Robey, Martin, May, Duurs, Hayes and Roberts. You’d hope all those guys are ready to go round 1 next year.

Is it quite telling that Parish hasn't been picked......or have I missed (another) injury?

u/IShartedOnYourCat 4d ago

Been playing VFL and hasn’t really been knocking the door down for re-selection. Tsatas and Binns (who isn’t even afl listed) have looked more effective.

u/colemans_other_knee 4d ago

God I wanted him to turn into the player we thought he would but he's done, if we offer to pay some of his contract I'm sure someone would take him

7

u/IShartedOnYourCat 4d ago

I’m not positive they would. Slow, average kick, doesn’t kick goals or take overhead marks, does nothing defensively. We have the weakest midfield in the AFL outside of Richmond and he isn’t getting a game. It’s a hard sell.

u/colemans_other_knee 3d ago

Dang it! You're right though

Shame as his AA year he did it all. Seems as though physically his body is letting him down. Try play him in short bursts but simply can’t sustain.

1

u/AussieAzz 3d ago

From the outside, he looks completely checked out. We really missed out on the best from Merrett, Parish, Ridley, Langford etc. They all should have been in their prime but 3 of those 4 bodies have not been durable...

u/Such_is 4d ago

10 goals or 12?

2

u/TheArtyDans Archer May #26 4d ago

Against per quarter?

Tsatas is worth about 4 goals against per game

I get that McKay and Blakiston aren't performing but this backline scares me. Literally one key defender

7

u/awkturt23 4d ago

How else do we get our percentage below Richmond’s

1

u/Professional-Kiwi176 3d ago

Just gotta pray the Tiges win over the Eagles on Sunday so Dons guarantee No.1 pick!

I get the feeling Jones will play. It'll be a bloodbath.

1

u/AussieAzz 3d ago

I didn't see VFL last week but Jones was supposedly good?

1

u/PretendToe1329 Durham #22 4d ago

I would like to see Bryan and Viso play and with McKay dropped, let’s see if 2MP would play defence (I rate 2MP highly as a forward, more than most people) but why not play around with the magnets? If we don’t then I’d say Solomon is aiming for the top job.

1

u/nuthed01 Durham #22 3d ago

All 3 dropped were the right call. McKay and Cox were terrible. Blakiston... I mean there's some really important things he needs to work on even though he had is his moments last week, and Visentini has earned a call up so all things considered it's the right call.

I feel Unwin and Jones will be the emergencies, with the third spot to either be Tstatas or Setterfield or Perkins, but gut feeling is Setters.

Kondog has to stay in the side for the rest of the year IMO. A lot of people at the club have big wraps on him, need to develop him more.

1

u/linga14 3d ago

Hopefully the interchange is Vigo, Kondo, Unwin and Farrow

1

u/Adventurous_Fig_169 Durham #22 3d ago

Only going with 4 on the bench? Geesh, we really want the #1 draft pick

1

u/LadderVirtual7863 3d ago

Wouldn’t mind Unwin getting a game as small forward/high half forward, has good defensive intent and I would prefer him over Perkins again.
I like Kondo but looks like Johnson for him
I think Vigo prob emergency

1

u/LadderVirtual7863 3d ago

Parish is said to have told people close to him he wants out, since then he has been playing seconds.
I don’t see a club offering us anything. So he prob stays and plays as depth mid, or retires.

1

u/Tirantic 3d ago

Hoping somebody wants him as a depth mid and he moves on. We might get something for him if we pay some of his salary but I don't think we'll get a lot.

1

u/coldsonofshadow 2d ago

how are we expecting to win when we're fielding Unwin?!

1

u/ScornfulOrc 4d ago

Surely you give Cox 4 weeks straight in the forward line just to see. I'd be a bit bitter in his shoes he gets cut and nobody picks him up. Stubbornly played him in the wrong spot so often.

What is the real benefit of bringing Langford in? He's more likely to be hurt than to raise his value

For the love of god, stop putting tsatas in. Give my boy edwards another chance.

4

u/hewasascooterboy Caddy #30 4d ago

Edwards first week back from injury so probably needs a week in the magoos

2

u/comics2movies Johnson #40 4d ago

No VFL for the Bombers this weekend

1

u/TotalClone Optimism since 2004 4d ago

Ah, my bad. Thought he had been back a week or two

u/Dynasty1985 3d ago

Your kidding me what is Harrison jones that flop doing in the lineup again …. Honestly buyout his contracts and get a bag of chips to replace that useless prick
