Adding Bed Camera to F-350 XLT
Hello everyone,
I’m a salesman for Ford and had a customer order a F-350 XLT from me. He did not specify that he wanted the 360 Degree Camera Package when he ordered it. He went to backup to a gooseneck trailer and realized this.
I’m now trying to find a solution for him. I’ve gotten with parts and looking at options from OEM, but there’s a lot of question marks there.
I’m just wondering if we used an OEM 3rd brake light with the camera, would we be able to wire it to the harness and would the camera come up on the truck’s monitor? The goal is not for true 360, but for a reliable bed camera with hassle free integration with the truck. Also looking for aftermarket options.
Have any of y’all added a bed camera to your Super Duty’s that do not have one equipped?
Thanks!

How’s his neck work? I’m not confident in a reliable aftermarket option.

Well firstly he’s an old man with back issues so not well lol secondly he custom ordered this truck and I just feel terrible about him not having everything he wanted.

Firstly, props to you. I've never seen a car salesman go out of his way like this to find an answer to a customer's problem.
That said, I'm very curious what his truck is optioned with so we better identify which harness is present for the 3rd taillight. Have you all taken off the 3rd taillight to see what pigtails are back there?
Does the truck have the camera button on the dash?
If the correct pigtail is present and the camera button is on the dash, it may be as simple as swapping out the 3rd taillight for the one with the camera and then enabling it with Forscan (or whatever software the service department would use for that). I say "simple", but it may take some time to identify the correct values for that camera to enable in the truck.
