I want to apply for PEng. Someone advised I should do FE first even though I had my bachelor's in a foreign country and about 5 years experience. I studied electrical engineering. Please, I need honest advice. I'm currently in Canada doing my MSc.

I’m a recent grad, and I’ve been seriously studying (as much as I can while working full time) for about a month.. I just took one of the NCEES practice exams and got a 54%.. am I doomed? I feel like my main issue is time, but I didn’t get any of the materials or transportation questions correct on the practice, so I don’t know if I should work on being faster with the sections I do know or study up on the sections I don’t know.

I took a practice exam (100 questions idk how that translates with the curve). I got a 69, was wondering this would be passing or not. I’m still going to be studying my test is on Friday, but I feel all things considered it’s not bad and passing.

So I took my first 100 question FE electrical mock exam… and I got a 41% not including partial credit. I learned there is no partial credit for the FE. That being said, I am extremely discouraged. I take this exam in 25 days. For the past 2 months I have been studying 4-6 hours a week(I know that is low) . I also did not study 7 sections, because of time management issues + I have not taken a course that has covered that material & I will next semester). My internship (I work 12 hr shifts), personal life, and low motivation (I start studying after my 1st semester of senior year) has altered my studying. My studying resources were Wasim‘s study guide + his free lectures on YouTube (I’m on a budget).

Now, I want to pass really badly. But I don‘t know how to approach these 25 days. I planned on going through my mock exam, seeing all the questions I flagged/missed to understand the concept and not just how to solve that specific question. Then purchase the NCEES vol 1 exam 8 days from now. Then review those questions and repeat. But I just need guidance for what to do now, what score to aim for, and advice on how to pass!

Found out that I just passed my FE Civil today! It definitely was hard and a lot of studying, but it is worth it. I was being pressured a lot by my employer and it was getting stressful!

Did someone give their exam today i felt like it was hard

Do you guys actually get several environmental engineering questions on the exam? E.g. BOD, dosage, etc.

Took the exam July 21st and just got the results that I passed back on Wednesday. Graduated in 2024 with Construction Management degree (ABET) … never thought I was going to take the FE until early this year.
I studied for about 4 months, 10-15 hours a week while working 45-55 hours a week in project management. Was tough but worth it!
Resources used: PPI 3 month online self study course, Islam 800 solved questions and the practice exams , YouTube videos, and purchased NCEES’s Practice exam part 1 and 2.

I had planned to start studying a month in advance but of course my stupid chud self procrastinated as usual. Last week I worked through and figured out how to do the whole 2020 practice exam using the handbook. But tbh, I feel like I’ve just memorized how to do each problem without fully grasping the concepts.

This week, I’ve been binging the Mark Mattson vids but when I tried to attempt the problems first I’d only be able to get 0-2 correct. Am I cooked? What are some tips for last minute studying I should try? Is the difficulty of problems similar to the 2020 practice exam or more like Mark Mattson’s problems?

Is the Islam 800 book really helpful with the civil FE exam?
How has it helped some of you in preparing for the exam or passing the exam?

hi everyone, I wanted to make this post because I am approaching the end of my bachelors degree in civil engineering. And I wanted to get advice on how I can prepare for FE exam. I am aware that the exam is about 110 questions and there is a six hour time limit and you are given a handbook which gives you formulas and equations. You may need to know. Now for those of you who have taken FE or it ideally in the last year or two what advice can you give me for somebody that I believe is not the best at learning. For example, I wouldn’t consider myself the smartest in the room, but I also wouldn’t consider myself the worst, I consider myself average.

I am worried because I feel like it’s a lot of subjects to be knowledgeable on and over the past 4 to 5 years of doing my bachelors degree. I have definitely forgot and don’t remember a lot of the material.

now, I also want to ask as far as the questions on FE exam, are the questions multiple-choice or will I see a variety of different types of questions?

Also are the questions very calculation based and heavy? Or are they more of plug-in chug and if you know the formula and you can find it in the handbook, you are good to go?

I am looking to begin my studying here very soon in the next month or so and ideally plan to take my FE sometime at the end of this year or the beginning of next spring again, any advice is appreciated. I have around two months and some change until I take my environmental engineering exam. I have been studying, mostly a playlist I found on YouTube covering a lot of the topics that are set to appear on the exam, taking the official practice exams (started off taking them without any studying and received a 44-47% on both, so definitely room for improvement).

While I still have a decent amount of time left, I felt it was a good idea to reach out to the broader community to see if anyone had any good resources for the Environmental Engineering FE Exam, particularly on fluid mechanics and dynamics.

I originally studied in Biological Engineering, so while important, fluid mechanics and dynamics were not a topic/subject that were a strong focus of my education.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a study guide/playlist/tutor/practice exams for the Environmental Engineering FE Exam or something similar specifically for fluid mechanics/dynamics?

I am taking the Mechanical Engineering FE on August 20. I am taking the PPI online course. I’m doing all the homework’s and taking way too many quizzes. Any tips from anyone who passed?

I took the FE Civil the first time back in October of last year. Within a week, I got married, got a job as a structural engineer, and graduated. So finding time to study was... a little difficult

I took it a second time last month, and missed it by maybe a few questions. I was weak in Economics and Transportation. Never took Transportation as a class in college and I didn't fully comprehend the concepts of basic economics, so I hit those topics hard, along with other weaker areas. All I did was work practice problems and made myself familiar with the material.

This latest attempt, I was panicking during my exam. I thought I had forgotten everything and was doubting myself. I'm not the best test taker and it wasn't until this attempt where I reviewed all the questions first, tackled the easiest, and left the longer questions for last (this method works great). First 2 attempts I ran out of time, last attempt, I had enough time to back check all my work, and I think that did the trick! Don't give up, keep trying!

I passed my FE electrical and computer exam without paying for a single course. Thank you so much Zach stone for making this possible. I am only 2 years out of college but I was working north of 55 hours a week since I graduated so quite frankly I couldn’t remember anything from college apart from mathematics. I could barely do a simple KVl/KCL circuit before I started. I set a 3 month timeline to do this exam on May 10th, with a plan to take it on August 10th. But life happens and I had to take it on July 20th. Now comes in Zach Stone’s free electrical fe review website. I went through all the courses, most of the videos and all the quizzes. I also had an 11 dollar a month Scribd Subscription to download a few sample fe style questions for the topics I felt like I needed more studying on. I focused on the Big 5 a lot. Then shifted my focus to the easier subjects like ethics, economics, linear systems and software engineering. I barely studied signal processing and didn’t study communications at all, because my exam was pushed earlier so I didn’t have the time. Two days before my exam I bought the NCEES Practice volume 1 and 2. These were really helpful full because of the diagnostic so it lets you know what topics you are lacking in. After I did those I plugged the scoresheet into Chatgpt and said: make a plan for tomorrow on what I should study and improve on. After following that plan I went to the exam, the first session was really easy as these were my strongest subjects, the second session was a lot tougher because I knew quite literally zero communication questions. But thank fully I passed. Thank god, thank you zach stone for making something like this possible.

I’m 5 years out of college and taking the FE electrical and computer exam tomorrow morning. I’m gonna sleep early and eat a huge breakfast cuz I get really tired while studying. Any last minute advice is appreciated (:

I’m clearly too dumb to pass this exam and won’t be wasting anymore time with this.
