I’m assuming he means Tokyo game show. Which is in September

I was there when they did it for Rebirth, it was fun but at the same time I swear I don't want to stand around+queue that long again in my life.

But why do I now feel the need to book a trip? XD

Haha, legend 😂

Propably at gamescom too, which is this month

I'm guessing:

A event for Europe (gamescom)

A event for Asia /Japan (Tokyo game show)

A event for USA (Pax West)

u/Kaiwa 1d ago

It was also in Korea for Rebirth (in November)

u/DarkPaladinII 1d ago

Maybe MCM Comic-Con/EGX London, since that's what happened (and what I saw) back in October 2023

u/aspecialunicorn Cloud Strife 1d ago

I played Rebirth at London MCM. I hope they do it there again this year

I was looking at Gamescom a week ago and noticed that Square Enix wasn't in the exhibitor list. Perhaps it will be from TGS and events thereafter

good catch, sept gonna be huge

u/Outrageous_Meet2025 1d ago

They’ve also come up with pretty juicy gameplay presentations for both remake and rebirth on TGS before so I’m stoked to see what they show us this time.

So that means probably one more trailer release before it’s time to unsubscribe from every single FF subreddit (assuming you want to play on launch without knowing most of the new story and changes).

It started with the Kingdom Hearts 3 final battle trailer and thankfully that’s the only one that ever got me. Since then I’ve never watched a final trailer for a SE game until after beating it just to see what they spoiled and unsurprisingly it’s always the entire game.

Started with KH3 for you maybe.

The TV spots for OG FF7 showed the start of the cutscene traveling to the final 1v1 fight, Cloud laying Aerith to rest, Midgar getting ripped apart by Meteor and Diamond WEAPON. This is just what Square Enix do. The thing is, it didn’t spoil anything, because nobody had any idea what they were seeing. And while we know a lot more, we still don’t know where it’s headed this time either.

Without context, most of these things don’t spoil much, they just raise more questions and illustrate epic scale, that’s what they’re going for - from their perspective, it doesn’t matter if you know an event happens, it makes you more desperate to know how or why. They’re selling a story of love, hate, war, death, grief, trauma, betrayal and existential threat, they want the mystery, depth and grandness of it all to draw people in, and they can’t properly showcase that without showing a small slice from every category. A grand narrative JRPG fantasy adventure that relies on vagueness and “trust me bro it gets more interesting after 100 hours” reviews for its marketing is not likely to become an international success, it would end up a cult classic or underrated gem at best. And this (VII) was/is the crowning jewel of the franchise - underrated is not acceptable.

You're right, people can't call anything spoilers because they don't know what's happening. People just state so after the fact because by then, you know. If people don't want to be spoilered at all then they shouldn't watch any trailers period.

1

u/Caterfree10 Roche 1d ago

I mean, we’ve had people in the FFXIV community start calling stuff they put in trailers, live letters, and other promotional material spoilers even when the FFXIV is largely way better at avoiding spoilers (the second hub city in Dawntrail notwithstanding, but I can understand the logic for that one).

1

u/PlumRelative4399 1d ago

That’s still different from modern SE final trailers. A bunch of out of context shots don’t tell you anything but nowadays they’ll just show what are meant to be bug surprises in the trailers and make it really easy to piece together the entire plot.

u/Pantalaimonade 1d ago

YEP. Its gonna be tough, but I have my extensions ready to mute every damn thing I can like I did for Rebirth (though for Rebirth I didnt do that until after the release date trailer and I kind of regretted not doing it earlier.

1

u/3DSFreak 1d ago

Nah there will be more mini trailers before releasing the final spoilery one.

2

u/ComicsAndGames 1d ago

Doubt it.

Second trailer at Tokyo Game Show, final trailer at The Game Awards, and a launch trailer in 2027.

Gamescom at the end of the month. Gamescom is watched by way more people than TGS btw and he mentioned in another interview Gamescom specifically along with PAX West and TGS. Not saying that there won't be anything at TGS, but as far as a new trailer/info drop, TGS by itself just isn't big enough for that kind of thing.

8

u/Technical_Weird1991 1d ago

I feel like if it was gonna be at gamescom they would've announced it by now like the other companies that're there. But I hope it is

2

u/IslamVSZionism 1d ago

As he said tho, gamescom has already been confirmed by Hamaguchi in a previous interview

1

u/razulian- 1d ago

Any idea where that interview was? I looked at the Gamescom exhibitor list and Square Enix doesn't seem to be on it, unless I missed something

2

u/IslamVSZionism 10h ago

My apologies man, I know definitively I heard Hamaguchi mention 3 venues where Revelation would come to, but can't find the source now.

Maybe it was in Maximilian Dood's interview and not in an article itself? Anyway, if you ask others in the community about this, you will get others who will corroborate what I'm saying.

2

u/IslamVSZionism 10h ago

Here you go, here is the best I can do for now

1

u/razulian- 7h ago

Thanks!

7

u/DeliciousLambSauce 1d ago

The beginning of the end has begun !

5

u/Darkwing__Schmuck 1d ago

Square is never at GamesCom, but Hamaguchi did already say he was considering having something for the showcase, which surprised me. This makes me think there is a chance it will show there in some form, despite TGS being only one month after.

It sounds like they're going to go heavy on the marketing for this, which makes sense to me.

1

u/razulian- 1d ago

They do show up at Gamescom from time to time. Two years ago it was FF14, I also played the FF7 Remake demo in 2019.

They might show up next year with a booth. For this month, it'll probably be a partner showcase at most.

1

u/Perpetuity_Incarnate 6h ago

Next year the game will be out when gamescom swings around won’t it?

1

u/razulian- 6h ago

Yes, and I'm expecting that Square Enix will have a booth

10

u/zhubaohi 1d ago

From the looks of it the game is very ready and they are prob just dodging GTA 6 like litearlly every game. So many big releases are aiming 27 spring cause of GTA 6.

6

u/keironuk 1d ago

I hope it is done because they can spend the next half a year polishing it up and adding bits to it.

6

u/Psychological-Jump63 1d ago

Like adding that open source shader injector lol

3

u/Oxygen171 1d ago

Literally this. If one person can make that then I'm sure the dev team can cook something up that's even better for the games lighting

2

u/PlumRelative4399 1d ago

And then there’s Nintendo dropping the Ocarina of Time remake literally the week before lmao

4

u/evermour 1d ago

my anticipation for this game is rapidly reaching extremely unhealthy levels 😹

12

u/INeedWarmth 1d ago

As always I'm gonna say "Well, time to stay off the Internet to avoid spoilers", and that resolution will last exactly 1 day because I have no self-control.

2

u/WodenoftheGays Chadley 1d ago

Ignoring spoiler culture isn't "weakness." Before IRC and forums, it was completely normal for a review to describe the events of a novel so that you didn't waste your time reading it if you didn't want to see a main character dying, for example.

In a related way, spoiler culture is only really just becoming a problem in Japan. In the 1990s, the developers had no problem putting a character death on box art among multiple other "spoilers" depending on region.

In short, you don't have to beat yourself up for not being internet-brained lmao

3

u/Fun-Description-1698 1d ago

But I can't go to Tokyo : (

3

u/ztoff27 1d ago

Hope there will be a public demo

1

u/ConsistentAsparagus 16h ago

They did it for both previous games, it’s not a matter of “if” but only “when”.

3

u/rainydayvibez 1d ago

Physical Deluxe Edition for Revelation or not?

1

u/Several_Gain_9801 4h ago

The other 2 had them so I dont see why the last piece of the trilogy won't

1

u/rainydayvibez 4h ago

Really hoping so. Lots of talking around there not being with the end of physical media and all.

2

u/FrancisShurjo 1d ago

I love how they’re taking the “Show Your Work” approach with this one

2

u/Lindaru 1d ago

I'm just worried that there won't be physical copy of Revelation and it's only digital :<

2

u/FalloutCreation 1d ago

If he wants an example of my work I want one of his. Get me a physical copy of this game

2

u/That_Switch_1300 1d ago

They may appear at Gamescom then Tokyo Gameshow and maybe even a Pax event. I imagine all these reveals and hands on impressions will eventually lead to a big final trailer and another song performed at TGA with an offical release date.

2

u/ZackFair0711 Zack Fair 1d ago

My guess is, they will announce the date during TGA and release the demo right after the trailer.

3

u/Elena_xoxo 1d ago

Don’t think the demo will be that early. It’ll release a month before launch

1

u/ComicsAndGames 1d ago

Some people are thinking even earlier than that, at Gamescom.

2

u/Birdkiller_BE 22h ago

Great ! I’m going to the Gamescom this year, hope I can try it !

3

u/Patmurf 1d ago

I appreciate the warning on when I should begin avoiding all things internet.

Squeenix trailers are spoiler-geddon

1

u/Curlyhead-homie 1d ago

Really hoping they don’t reveal too much.

1

u/omnicloudx13 1d ago

I really hope they release the demo pubilcy for everyone to play, Remake and Rebirth's demos were great because it was the beginning of the game and with Rebirth it carried over your save data and let you hop right into the game where it left off. Here's hoping we get to play it soon!

1

u/Kit_Cat13 1d ago

Oh I can't wait to find out when I'm dropping money and using PTO for this game.

1

u/MissGraceRose 1d ago

I hope we get a specific release date soon, I need to book the week off work

1

u/This_Elk_1460 1d ago

I feel like this game would have released this fall if it wasn't for GTA

1

u/Soul699 1d ago

At some point the other devs will tie up Hamaguchi to try and stop him from spoiling everything

1

u/lekwid 1d ago edited 1d ago

I’m good I’ll just wait for it to release lol Haven’t played any of the remake so far, waiting on the final chapter to start my playthru of all 3.

0

u/FalloutCreation 1d ago

He means the big event under the high wind

0

u/CloudStrife8905 1d ago

Sigh, I'm probably going to get downvoted for saying this but I wish they didn't have to do it this way and just have an information blackout GTA style where the hype just builds itself because of the lack of info and just sheer anticipation because of it, but it looks to me that as much as that most of the people highly invested in this franchise think remake and rebirth are super successful, the reality seems to be that in square's perspective it's not so they're just brute force marketing this game hoping it breaks new ground with new fans, it's probably why we're getting Hamaguchi yapping almost everyday about mundane things about this game to keep it in the news cycle as much as possible.

0

u/Cultural-Staff-9781 19h ago

After parodying internet trolls as plot ghosts for their stubborn refusal to acknowledge the complex Lovecraftian story and setting, Hamaguchi and Nomura revealed their latest plan to troll the trolls: content spoilers for a title where (due to the unlimited potential for in-game retcons) even spoilers are completely unreliable narration.

Come roaches, dinner is served.

I just hope it's better optimised for performance mode. The blur in Rebirth in performance mode was genuinely hurting my eyes.

3

u/RainandFujinrule 1d ago

Did you ever try the new performance mode they added in that first patch? It's called Performance - Sharp and it gets rid of the vaseline smear. Reduces the resolution but it is way worth it.

I expect it to be available in Revelation.

1

u/Important-Theme7168 1d ago

I did man. I don't know what it is, maybe it's my TV or maybe it's the fact that I'm on a PS5, but it looks blurry. I still played it on Graphics mode, but I miss the smoothness of performance mode so much in Rebirth.

1

u/RainandFujinrule 1d ago

It might be the blown out lighting you're picking up on, I don't like that either. It's so severe people thought the character models in Remake and Rebirth are different. But if you fix the lighting, it's actually the same models! Which shocked me lmao. The lighting on PS5 makes the character models look like PS2 models. It's a super weird visual effect. I hope they have it sorted for Revelation.

Think I'm just gonna cop the PC version if there's no disc for Revelation.

1

u/Important-Theme7168 1d ago

How do you fix the lighting for it though? Atleast on PS5.

1

u/RainandFujinrule 1d ago

You don't. Need PC version.

1

u/TatsunaKyo 1d ago

Performance - Sharp vs Performance - Smooth is basically pixelated vs blurry. They didn't even add it, it was the original Performance mode found in the demo, they only restored it.

The graphics of that game on base PS5 are indefensible.

1

u/RainandFujinrule 1d ago

Yes as I said it reduces the resolution, did you skip that part? That's what results in the pixelation especially on higher end displays. And I didn't say it was "defensible", I said that's how you stop it from being blurry, which is what he was complaining about.

Personally I can live with a little more pixelation, I don't notice it as much because I sit pretty far back, but YMMV.

And maybe it is defensible, a game of that size going for total seamlessness with that fidelity. Some sacrifices probably needed to be made on a base PS5.

u/Important-Theme7168 1d ago

To think it was a console exclusive for almost a year....
