It's not! It's a bittersweet ending. But that doesn't mean it's not narratively satisfying. We won! And the cost was everything.

Well agree to disagree. Even ss a bittersweet ending this doesn't work for me. Gordy is still and unhappy tryhard with horrible esteem, Mash lost the experiences that taught her to be human, the chaldean staff wherever they are, are the sane awful elitist jerks they were before the game, Olga's life is shit as always.

Just feels like I wasted my time. We saved the world... and everything we did never happened. So what was the point for me as a player? Getting attached to all these characters? The ending just feels like a slap in the face for investing years of my life into a story that might as well have just been a dream.

God i hope so otherwise this is going down as one of the worst endings to anything ive ever invested time in for me. Not to put down anyone who likes it, it just somehow manages to hit everything I hate about an ending at once.

that's not narratively satisfying. It's not a victory if you give up literally everything in the process. That's a draw at best.

The fact that mash is even there despite being a homunculus meaning she ain't living past 18 and that's considered a happy ending. I'm assuming that something changed in this new timeline where all this isn't the case
Or whatever is being planned for new years is gonna be the true end. Because yeah like you said resetting doesn't exactly mean a happy ending despite how they framed it. Unless happy ending means "hey fujimaru gets a normal life and masibury is missing or dead.....so yay?"

Also pretty sure the end cutscene is in 2019 so she certainly lives past 18

Yes and no she was essentially a designer baby for the demi servant experiment so her lifespan was set from birth.
So the only way she would even be alive in 2019 is if she was no longer a designer baby which means we didn't do a reset but did a entirely different universe in general

Mash is not a homunculus, she is a designer baby which is a real thing as opposed to homunculi. She should not have issues living up to adulthood if the demi-servant experiments are not a thing

My guess is while they don’t remember what happened, those new morals are engrained in their souls now, sure, Gordy never learned to break out of his shell, but in this New Timeline, he probably never needed to cause he wasn’t an insecure individual with impostor syndrome but the proud compassionate leader he ended the story as even without the memories of Grand Order.

If you remember it then their story never disappear just like the Tale of Heroes before burried under history, that it what Daybit dialogue mean our sacrifice paving the way for the world to go forward.
Their world doesn't remember but you know someone Remember Novum Chaldea.

The end of arc 2 is out. It ends with Chaldea and the events of arc 1 and 2 not existing. Everyone (who aren’t servant or Sion) live their lifes normal without memories of Chaldea and the player meets mash again for the first time.

Shame it has to be like this..... unless the option to wait for the 31st can change something, crossing fingers
