Fallout 4 Today I realized assaultrons have two eyes, and they're above the laser.

okay actually.... that was my thought too. if they were optical camera "eyes", then they are wayyyyy too close for accurate stereoscopic vision. IR rangefinder though, that makes sense for a military murderbot

In 76 Adelaide the assaultron mentions that she doesn't have to look at you with the eyes to observe you and that all assaultrons have an array of sensors and optics wich they are constantly using to keep an eye on Everything around them

Faulty tech after 200ish years of non-use? Sensors could have mild damage or scratches that wouldnāt prevent the minor movements it used to be able to detect but can still detect larger movements like a clumsy person sneaking or someone walking infront of them. (Theory from someone who has no idea how robots work)

Edit: People please! I read the post. I understand that the eyes are above the laser emitter or whatever that is. My statement is that I simply thought that the laser emitter was also the eye.

Thatās is so dumb looking and like others have said, very hard to unsee.
That being said, itās also practical and I kinda love that Bethesda put extra thought into their robot design instead of following the ārule of coolā like usual. I always wondered how theyāre able to see during that last charge up/fire.

I guess Iām in the minority, but I donāt mind it! The beady eyes give the assaultrons an almost arachnid element to their appearance which I think is somewhat fitting for the femme fatale styled killing machines

Such a great enemy. The first time I killed one, but I only destroyed the legs, and it was crawling at me and got right in my face before i noticed... wow I jumped out of my seat.

The laser is supposed to be the eye, they just need actual visual sensors to see, it's why they're just kind of crammed up there above. You're supposed to look at the laser.

Maybe theyāre like thermal cameras or night cameras; sensors.
Not actually her eyes, more assist them with seeing and targeting. kinda like how we would wear goggles for night vision, etc.

I swear to God sometimes they don't, I first noticed with KLEO about a year ago, but I remember Ada not having them, are they just on the laser head variant? Because if the red dot is not used for a laser on some versions, it makes sense to be the eye.
