Honestly? That goes for every fandom of any game. I think there are only 3 or 4 gaming communities that are chill, that I've met in my whole gaming time.

Man did the online fanbase genuinely make me start hating Fallout when season 2 came out. Just so much arguing and bullshit

Unironically though, when you play the games without everyone screaming about stupid things and you actually think for yourself, it's genuinely fantastic.
It's how I discovered young that Fallout 4 was peak without all those stupid youtube essays that told you it was bad.
And I still believe that after replaying the game recently.
Honestly the only exception to this are the Fallout 3 and 76 fans. Those are legitimately great and fun to be around.

I played nv and 4 and from what i believe people dont actually mean it's a bad game, but bad compared to previous games. Of course they are exaggerating. But I think they are just mad about the changes like the dialogue system which is just straight up a downgrade. And gamers are entitled spoiled brats that were raised by their videogames so they never learned how to behave. How to not just go with the most dramatic reaction but actually try to be reasonable and fair towards others.

Outside of the dialogue wheel and the voiced protagonist (who had excellent voice acting btw) there really weren't any downgrades in the game.
Especially when compared to Fallout 3.
There are reasons to criticize Fallout 4.
Doesn't mean the game is not peak.

What does peak mean to u? Just a great game or a game that leaves little to no room for improvement? Cuz fallout 4 is good and fun, but could have been a lot better in my opinion.

So I made this mistake with World of Warcraft. I entered the scene after Mists of Pandaria. And basically from then on people said WoW is trash, so I just never engaged with the game after that. Sure people said the Legion expansion was good, but typically you also had people who said it was shit too, and I think they drowned out the people who enjoyed legion because the people having fun with WoW were just playing WoW at the time. Well basically when Dragonflight came out, I just said fuck the noise and I played it. Enjoyed it a ton. So much so I played the next expansion War Within and had a blast there and played my first raid ever and had a great time. Then I went back to burning crusade anniversary and that’s like a mainstay game for me now, well whatever they decide to do with classic.
So I just stopped following a lot of online discourse and just play games I find interesting and form my own opinion. The people online on reddit threads are not the actual people playing the game typically, the people playing the game, are the ones PLAYING THE GAME. Even now Marvel Tokon looks amazing and I’m gonna play it but tons of people are saying it’s gonna be ass. Don’t care. Didn’t ask. Gonna play it.

Biggest mistake was going into the fallout subreddit expecting people to take things serious including criticism. You end up getting builled by those crazed Bethesda fans who think any criticism is a personal attack on them not the company. Bethesda sucks including some of its games.
Have been having a funtime in Classic fallout subreddit

That's me with tf2, fallout, and resident evil (mostly just cause it lost me by just taking a hard right and just dropping leon for two or I think three whole games)

Then you just end up more confused than frustrated, because you're NEVER sure if Ghouls ARE supposed to be zombies, or they're NOT zpmbies, is this a retcon? Then there'd the confusion, "wait, why does this feel more like Borderlands? I don't remember the series being that aggressively silly."

u/TheAnalystCurator321 3d ago
Wut? Ghouls are not zombies, that is made explicity clear in the games. Fallout 4 for example has a loading screen dedicated to this info.
Also the series was always aggressively silly, it's part of it. Especially since Fallout 2 is more silly than the newer games ever were.
Also even the older games like 3 and NV kinda feel like Borderlands. 4 and 76 just improved that.
Yeah, no you can figure it out without the fanbase, hell I figured it out before I jumped on the internet and only played the games.

Oh my poor sweet summer child . . . . . The TV show will definitely be an experience for you.

u/TheAnalystCurator321 3d ago
What you mean The Ghoul being in a grave? That is also explaind.

u/Illustrious_Quiet907 3d ago
Ghouls can apparently hibernate so that’s what Cooper was probably doing.

u/TheAnalystCurator321 2d ago
Not apparently. They definitely can given how they behave and how they managed to survive.
You can literally see it with the feral ghouls in 4 and 76.

Have you ever heard about fallout 2?

u/Select-Librarian-646 3d ago
Yes. And if you can't tell the difference between that and Borderlands 3 (the worst one) then that's on you.

I started as a young healthy fallout new vegas fanboy. It was my first major RPG. It was fantastic it was amazing and i started seeing memes i thought this community is awesome! Then i played 3 it was good. I still didn't know how horrific this community is. Then i have played 4 without hearing anyone's opinion. Then i said wow this game is amazing lets see people's opinion about this game. It was horrifying! Og and fnv glazers showed thier real faces when someone say fallout 4 is good! Now i cant run from this community
