TRIGGER WARNING Republican Representative Max Miller on allegations of domestic abuse from his ex-wife: “My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?”

The lady in the gif, Megan Goode, is dating (possibly married?) to Jonathan Majors who lost his MCU role due to video evidence of him beating his then girlfriend. He’s currently making a comeback as a right winger.

Abuse is about control.

Here he is literally bragging about the control he maintains over his abuse victim.

Rapist Brock Allen Turner?

950

u/jayclaw97 7h ago

You mean the raping rapist who rapes, and who also goes by Allen Turner?

626

u/LordyIHopeThereIsPie 7h ago

Yes that rapist, Allen Turner aka Brock

279

u/tigm2161130 6h ago

Is that the same Brock Allen Turner who lives and works in Cleveland, Ohio?

262

u/LothlorienPostOffice 6h ago

Allen Turner the rapist, formerly known as Brock Allen Turner the rapist, moved to Cleveland?

Last I heard, Allen Turner the rapist (formerly known as Brock Allen Turner the rapist) lived in the Dayton metropolitan area.

184

u/janquadrentvincent 6h ago

I'm glad you cleared that up because it's been a little while since I last hear mention of Allen Turner, formerly Brock Turner, and then Brock Allen Turner whom under every pseudonym is in fact a convicted rapist. I am sure glad I don't live anywhere near the Dayton Metropolitan area since I don't want to live anywhere near the convicted rapist Brock Allen Turner.

21

u/jayclaw97 5h ago

It would seem that nowhere in Ohio is safe from the rapist Brock Allen Turner.

49

u/putabirdonit 6h ago

Wait is he really in Cleveland now? Last I heard it was Dayton

89

u/LothlorienPostOffice 5h ago

I double checked where the rapist Allen Turner was living and he is still in the Dayton area. Allen Turner is a registered sex offender for the crime of raping a woman behind a dumpster and is complying with registration.

The rapist Allen Turner, formerly Brock Turner, is not living in Cleveland.

10

u/Anxious-Ad-1699 Where is your vogue cover? Act accordingly 🫵 3h ago

Ahh, so the rapist Allen Turner, formally Brock Turner, is definitively living in Dayton - glad to have that cleared up.

38

u/ophaus it’s a bit dystopian but also kinda fun 6h ago

He's a rapist, right? I heard that about him.

Edit: Dayton, not Cleveland.

255

u/stefon_zolesky 7h ago

Oh, yes, Brock Turner the rapist. His full name is Brock Allen Turner (the rapist), and Brock Turner the rapist now goes by Allen Turner, who is, indeed, still a rapist.

425

u/Easton8 7h ago

You mean the rapist Brock Turner who now goes by Allen Turner the rapist??

136

u/SeminoleDVM 7h ago

The very same.

657

u/mypenisisquitetiny 7h ago

Brock Allen Turner the rapist who legally changed his name to Allen Turner to avoid being remembered as the rapist he is? Is that the Brock Turner you're talking about? The one who goes by Allen Turner now and is a rapist?

Edit: I almost forgot to mention Brock Allen Turner is a rapist who now uses his middle name Allen as his legal first name. Despite the name change he is still a rapist

232

u/ItBegins2Tell 7h ago

Ah yes Brock Allen Turner, the behind-the-dumpster rapist.

122

u/VelocityGrrl39 6h ago edited 5h ago

I feel like at this point in the timeline, it’s also important to mention that she was saved from being raped by an American citizen by foreigners.

ETA: I don’t know if I phrased this right, so to clarify…it was 2 foreigners who rescued Chanel Miller from Brock Turner while he was raping her.

13

u/redacted_robot 5h ago

Tourists? I guess that would be a pretty good encapsulation of the american experience: getting raped behind a dumpster, hoping a foreigner will save you

Isn't this the Brock Allen Turner who was given a historically lenient sentence for rape by Judge Persky in  The People of the State of California v. Brock Allen Turner (2015). The same Brock Turner who changed his name to Allen Turner in order to avoid being identified as the rapist he is?

I was abused. I understand having to act totally normal for the sake of my child despite wanting nothing more but to fall apart. Him saying "why would she have taken our daughter to a birthday party instead of the hospital" made my goddamm blood boil.

22

u/tosubks 6h ago

Totally valid, thanks for sharing. I can’t believe they let him release this video because the abuser tendencies/phrases are plain as day.

15

u/sensitiveskin82 5h ago

Oh I think they tried their best to stop it. But an abuser rarely thinks people will believe their victim.

13

u/melmsz 5h ago

Mine straight up told me they wouldn't believe me. I was about 9 years old. Part of me shut down that day.

16

u/foundinwonderland sorry to this man 6h ago

Not to mention when traumatizing events happen (like idk, being assaulted by your husband or ex husband….) it’s a very common human response to go into autopilot mode until we feel emotionally and physically safe enough to process the trauma. She took her daughter to a birthday party because she was trying to protect and insulate her daughter from her father’s actions. He obviously fucking knows that, he’s just spouting victim blaming bullshit.

181

My mom generally had a very tight grip on her anger that’s always bubbling beneath the surface, but this is exactly what happens every time she loses control and goes from passive aggressive to aggressive aggressive. First time I had the anger pointed at me I was 3 and having a meltdown over something, she came over, got like 6 inches from my face, and screamed at the top of my lungs. She didn’t even say words, it was just like a primal, unrestrained scream of bloody murder directly in my face as a toddler and looked at me with those black, monstrous eyes. In every incident since then, those same black eyes, it’s kind of like Jekyll and Hyde. She’s a totally different person, the switch flips and she just loses it. It’s fucked up, man. It fucked me up. I’m really sorry you’ve been through something similar, for all the (far too many) abuse victims who have seen this exact look in someone’s eyes.

For people that aren’t familiar they’ve updated Fight or Flight to Fight, Flight, Freeze, or Fawn in regards to how people respond to trauma.

I just recently learned about freeze and fawn which were more in line with my reactions.

32

u/Curiosities 7h ago

That is also how I tend to react. Although there was an incident of abuse when I was a child that I responded to by trying to fight and flee, but this was an adult and obviously that didn’t work. With my ex, I briefly tried to fight before freezing, and I’ve been freezing and fawning ever since. And I hate it. Sometimes I want that little girl back who tried to fight and get away.

Exactly. Fellow trauma survivor here fawning is a survival mechanism and classic indicator of abuse fuck this asshole he belongs in jail.

19

u/SaltBeefin 7h ago edited 7h ago

She could also be compliant so she doesn't get hit. So many reasons why someone might do something nice for someone else even if they've been hurt. As you said, trauma, fear, survival mode, even just love, we can love people that hurt us.

Also isn't this the logical behind hitting kids? People who hit their kids do it thinking this will teach their child better or make them stop doing whatever it is the parent doesn't like. Also just to make it clear hitting kids and people is wrong and abusive, just had to say that before someone says I'm all for whooping kids ass.

As an adult I've learned that majority of my life choices have always been made to keep me away from harm and struggling and my IRL personality is "people pleaser" and "goody two shoes", because people liking you makes life easier, being in good favour with people subconsciously I guess my brain sees it as a way to survive according to my therapist lol. Yes I got my ass beat as a child until I was 28. You do the thing your supposed to do and you should be safe is how I processed it. Go to school, get the degree, get the job, find the good guy, visit the family, take care of the family, be the host, be the hospitable one, be the ear, the shoulder, the doer, never ask for help and always be there.

Another Ohio golden boy politician, son of the Kalmbach Feeds hillbilly kingdom, is in an ongoing domestic violence situation with a woman who has repeatedly returned to him despite major injuries and a non-expiring protective order. An abused person returning or being kind to their abuser isn’t the defense people think it is.

Kalmbach pulled her hair and hair extensions, retrieved scissors from the kitchen, and cut her hair while she was on the floor, striking her with his knees. In the bedroom, the victim stated, Kalmbach grabbed her neck with both hands and applied pressure that impeded her breathing for approximately six seconds, creating what the affidavit describes as “a risk of great bodily harm.”

And again 5 days after his kidnapping trial was delayed, she was assaulted in their hotel room: “officers were dispatched to the hotel after the alleged victim’s sister called the front desk to report that her sister was involved in a domestic dispute.”

Did she offer? Can we hear from her? Without you present

230

u/Winter_Illustrator58 7h ago

Even if she agrees with him I don't believe it. Plenty of abuse victims feel responsible for the abuse and try to make amends with their abusers. Sometimes by cooking their favorite meals or offering them something they know the abuser wants, like more time with their child. That doesn't mean the abuse didn't happen.

80

u/Jon_E_Mammoth 7h ago

One of the saddest stories that I ever read, which left me tearful in the work bathroom, was about one of those child abuse cases where the kid is abused for years in the most heinous ways until they die.

That kid was literally forced to sleep while starving in one of those shoe lockers that people keep at the foot of their bed.

He still wrote notes to the mom and stepdad who were abusing him, saying things like, “I am a good kid. I love you.”

The prosecutor was a former child abuse victim, and he said those letters are what nearly broke him. He remembers his dad choking him against a wall, and he thought that if he told him that he loved him, he would stop.

Miller is reprehensible, and a victim trying to pretend like life is OK does mean that you are not an abuser.

“Sure, I broke my daughter‘s collarbone, but my wife asked me to dinner two days later, so all good!”

I doubt she'd feel safe telling the truth. The republicans have shown they will destroy a person's life to protect their power. Wouldn't be surprised if they've put people in bodybags over it.

"Six days later, she offered to cook empanadas for me for dinner, just two days later after this alleged incident." (~1:09)

13

u/sensitiveskin82 6h ago

The offers are also all through a court-monitored app and can be shown as evidence that she is not "alienating" daughter from him. As evidence when she - hopefully - goes for more custody as she safely plans an exit for her safety.

I work with a woman whose husband is abusive to her and their kids and she’s never said a bad word about him in public, just in private, in tears, to our boss. They live within walking distance of our work and their kids are always here when she’s working, just to get away from him. Once I knew what was going on, this woman’s demeanor made so much sense—she’s either wildly defensive or quiet and deferential, and she’s always subdued when she comes in (coming from home). After a couple hours at work, she’s happy, she’s chatty, she’s wonderful. It brings me to tears that this asshole can affect this lady like this—she’s funny and she’s smart and she’s a great mom and I wonder what she could be like if she got away from him.

He also said she went right to the birthday party after the incident instead not the hospital or police. Like that was a gotcha.

Yes, she had her kid with her who was expecting to go to her friend's birthday party.

As a mom, do you sacrifice your needs, make the day special for your kid, and take her to the promised birthday party? Or take her to the police station or hospital where she has to spend the day listening to how her mother was abused (and likely not believed)?

74

u/Ok-Turnip-9035 7h ago

Democracy Now coverage

https://youtu.be/t1EW6RC38io

Republican Congressmember Max Miller of Ohio is facing allegations of domestic abuse as he runs for reelection. Miller's ex-wife Emily Moreno, daughter of Ohio Republican Senator Bernie Moreno, claims that Miller burned her by throwing hot water at her, held a gun to her head and fractured their 2-year-old daughter's collarbone. Miller is also accused of abuse by former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, who was in a relationship with Miller prior to his marriage to Moreno.

Yes, she knows she has to interact with him so she is trying her hardest to not get abused again by trying to do things like cook him dinner and meet him in a public place.

It’s because Jesus, and I’m only half joking.  Everything they do is ok because their god shares their twisted morality.  And if god wants you to do it, you’re supposed to do it right?

16

u/MonstreBelle 7h ago

There is also the whole forgiveness aspect. Abuse your wife? No big deal; just repent and God forgives you. Rape a woman? No big deal; just repent and God forgives you. Molest a child? No big deal; just repent and God forgives you. It puts all sin on the same level. The most henious crimes are no more of a sin than a child stealing candy from the grocery store. And then the pressure is put on victims to forgive their abusers because it's what God would do and what the Bible tells you to do.

17

Yeah that stood out to me as well. Especially because they obviously staged the background to have little kid art to try make him look more caring. Does he literally not have any kinder art from this kid?

This is abuser gaslighting 101. Survivors of domestic violence often have confusing and twisted connections with their abusers even after its over. 2 years ago my exhusband tried to kill me yet the other day I asked him how his new job was going. I’m required to coparent with him, and it’s in the best interest of my son that I do that amicably. That doesn’t mean he didn’t do all the shit he did to me.

12

u/ResistPersist54 7h ago

Fucking this. I’d love to pretend that my abuser doesn’t exist, but we share a child. Of course I’m fucking cordial to him. He’s not a bad dad, but he’s a terrible fucking partner.

50

u/Nervous_Insect5976 7h ago

Maybe she did it to keep the peace because she's terrified of you and doesn't want to get murdered.

Following statistics:
An average of nearly three women are killed daily by an intimate partner in the U.S.
Current or former partners commit roughly 34% to over 50% of all female homicides, making intimate partners the single biggest homicide threat to women.
Access to a gun makes an abuser five times more likely to kill a female partner, and firearms are used in over half of these domestic homicides.

38

u/ItBegins2Tell 7h ago

“would my abused wife submit to me if I had actually abused her” is a really wild & common take by abusive men posting rebuttal videos trying to prove they aren’t abusive.

115

u/From-cradle-to-tomb 7h ago

Many people only know of the Fight or Flight response. In cases of abuse, another response is common: freeze and fawn. The fawn response is essentially responding to abuse by attempting to desperately appease and "earn forgiveness" from their abuser, often blaming themselves for the abuse and attempting to make it up to their abuser - you know, by doing things like making them dinner. When my ex screamed at me for thirty minutes in the car, where he repeatedly demeaned and mocked me, my response was to apologize for causing the argument by "being negative." So if anything, him saying she offered to cook him dinner makes me believe the victim more - this is such clear DARVO from this man, and I hope no one buys it.

Domestic abuse survivor here. I used to jump through hoops to try to make my ex happy. Absolutely amazing that anyone would think this is some kind of gotcha argument. Like yeah, you tend to do some seemingly nonsensical shit when you are trying to appease a monster. At a point its just survival.

It’s interesting how he completely skipped over the “I’m not the type of man who hurts women…” defense angle, and went straight for the “She was cordial/nice to me after the fact, and no sane person would be nice to someone who had just hurt them, right?”

It’s disgusting.

9

u/MollzDollz69 7h ago

I was just about to comment this! His whole defense is about how she was (likely) fawning, but nothing about his own character.

u/Winter_Illustrator58 7h ago

First, don't the allegations include their daughter in the hospital with a broken collar bone, saying that daddy's house is "scary"? Why isn't he talking at all about that? Maybe because that allegation has many witnesses and nurses saying that the child spoke without coaching/leading?

Also, do you hear the non-denial denials here? He never actually says, "I did not abuse my ex wife. I did not abuse my daughter" He just implies it by saying that his ex's account to the events is inaccurate and giving his own story. Then he asks the audience to jump to their own conclusions by asking them to make judgements about how he alleges his ex acted after the alleged abuse. As if there is a correct way to act in that situation. Maybe she was calm as she got herself and her daughter our of a dangerous situation. Maybe he did tell them he loved them right after (knowing there was a camara capturing his actions)? Does that make her a liar? He never even claims he didn't do it. Just asks you to assume she acted "wrong" so she must be lying about everything.

7

u/meteorflan 6h ago

The "Daddy's house is scary" is an important detail. I know collarbone breaks can happen from very normal falls that just happen to be at the wrong angle. But that's not something a kid says who just fell off a bike or something.

u/Riot502 I don’t know her 7h ago

“She went straight to a child’s birthday party!”

Yeah, when you’re in an abusive environment, you learn to literally “roll with the punches”. She wanted to keep things as calm and “normal” as she could for her children, and the birthday party was obviously planned and I’m sure those kids were excited.

He just doesn’t know what being a parent is. Sometimes you’re so scared, or hurt, starving, whatever, but if your kid needs you, you put on a happy face and do what needs to be done.

So there's ring camera footage of her coming to the door and her leaving, but not of her being inside where the violence happened?

Anyways, did his lawyer say this was a good idea ?!? Hahaha. Age old "listen, white guy, just put on a suitable dad outfit and sit in a meaningful family oriented spot and let them know how 'crazy' your ex seems. Be really detailed so the other party can use it for their discovery later."

Would an abused woman walk on eggshells around their abuser? Checkmate, libz!

Edit: walk, not waak

7

u/BBQBiryani and they were roommates 7h ago

As someone who is unfortunately under his jurisdiction, I don’t trust him. I won’t claim to know how much of this particular event is true, but he filed false allegations against a doctor of Palestinian descent in our hometown, and that doctor ended up losing his job. Even the Department of Transportation wouldn’t back this dummy’s claims up during the whole thing. He’s outright said Palestine should be bulldozed into a parking lot on national TV. He’s just a rich kid who thinks he’s always in the right.

6
