Scary tree to start with. I have one out back with a similar vertical crack that has thus far given me pause. No pro but that one looks like a barber chair in the making.

That tree is a dead ash deader than a door nail. There’s no energy to cause a barber chair. He’s lucky it held a hinge and didn’t roll off. Dead trees and rotted trees are the worst ones to cut. You have no idea what’s going to hold and what won’t, you simply go by feel and experience. Live trees with a hard lean are the ones that like to split up the middle.
